I would not count on Monmouth getting ranked. Last year they beat Wartburg and snuck in late til they choked late possibly costing Wheaton a bid.

I don't get how Wartburg beating Central opens a 1 seed?

I would guess StJ to go to a Wheaton bracket as #2 with NCC going West and maybe hosting Bethel in round 1. Wouldn't that be neat? It would be easy to do this avoiding rematches for both teams.

I would guess Wheatons Sos will end up around .560 and they will stay about .30 above Muhl and .60+ above Salisbury. Wheaton gets a slight boost this week from Carthage and a bump from the UWO game as well as rest of WIAC. The. They will fall about .40 the last week vs Elmhurst.

Again, Carthage is talented enough to beat Wheaton so they better be ready.

You going full Lou Holtz?  Not a chance Wheaton doesn't walk over Carthage.

Wheaton will win by four touchdowns.

Looks like I seriously underestimated this one, as Wheaton beat the Red Men to the tune of 55-6.

Lou Holtz will no doubt be showing up at USee's front door with a laurel and hearty handshake. ;)

GS,

Lou just left. I gave him the rest of my Halloween candy. He expressed his gratitude and went on his merry way.

Great game for the Thunder. Not so much for WashU and their loss could be be costly to their CCIW peers.

Highlight and lowlight from today's game in Wheaton:

Lowlight: Carthage HC calling timeout with 13 seconds left in the game, down 55-0 with a 4th down at the Wheaton 6 yd line. Carthage had their 1st team offense in against Wheaton's 3rd team defense and the Carthage offense scored, which was their only highlight on a day they were completely dominated.

Highlight: Wheaton Senior QB Dave Beamer, son of "Let's Roll" Todd Beamer (his father from flight #93 on 9/11 who led the passenger revolt) scoring a rushing TD on senior day with his mom and family in the stands. The sign "Let's Roll" is on the door leading from the Wheaton locker room and every player slaps it on the way to the field. Great moment for Dave and his family.

I sense Dave might have had an extra blocker on that run. Great roll.

I'm not sure what I just watched really.

That was evidently a primer for today's debacle against NCC in Naperville.

Both the IWU run game (49 yards) and pass defense (6 TDs) were practically non-existent today.
2 hikes over the punter's head, and giving up a 29 yard TD pass with 5 seconds left in the first half, and then a 55 yard TD pass on the 3rd play of the second half didn't help.

I get the sense that the CCIW coaches are all too happy to kick Norm while he's down...

The fact Wheaton can steamroll all these opponents while keeping TJ Williams on the Kawhi Leonard load management plan says everything you need to know about their team right now. Carthage never had a chance, despite what some cautious Wheaties may have feared. I get the mindset tho. But if any of you give Elmhurst a spitting chance next week, you're straight delusional.

USee

Elmhurst has no chance.

Carthage was within a botched 2 pt play of beating UWO this year. They out up 55 pts on Millikin and played WashU tight. To think they can't compete with top teams is foolish. Wheaton can thank the Cobbers for the wake up call they didn't need.

Let me rephrase: this Wheaton was never going to give Carthage a chance, regardless of what they did against other opponents. This team looks out for blood.

This was one of the most disorganized IWU teams I've seen in many years.  They were leaving NCC players run wide open in the secondary and let Rutter rip off a 60 and 34 yard run.  Their punt team was a mess.
