How much does Wheaton return next year?

They return 5 on offense (QB, RB, 2 OL, 1 TE) and 6 on Defense (2 DL, 4 LB's)

I reckon your QB will be good next year.  He refused to be tackled and made numerous clutch plays.  Seasoned in this forge of disappointment he will be a terror of determination next season.

NCC travels to Muhlenberg for the Semi's Saturday. The Mules have only allowed 8pts this post season and 18 points Total in the last month. Only 2 times has a team scored more than twice on them and they have held 8 of their opponents to single digits in the scoring column. They are currently ranked #9 in total defense nationally.

That's all well and good but NCC has already played the teams ranked #1 #2 and #3 in total defense and scored 21, 34, 59 respectively. Muhlenberg is ranked #44 in offense (they are 57% run, 43% pass) and NCC's defense is ranked #36. NCC defense gave up 14 second half points to Mt Union and 14 pts to Del Val.

I like this matchup for the Cards, despite the trough travel (Fly to Newark, drive about 90 minutes or so).

This should be a charter flight, so I'd think they go directly into Lehigh Valley International Airport.

Right. Definitely better.

I had a chance to watch Muhlenberg vs. Franklin & Marshall tonight.  Muhlenberg and NCC seem like very similar teams in many aspects.  This could be one heck of a game.  I hope the rain holds off.  I'm really impressed with Muhlenberg... fast and fundamentally sound.  I can't wait for Saturday!

Mount v NCC in round 2 will be very good game.   Winner of that game is Stagg bound in my opinion

I'm standing by this statement.   NCC has an excellent chance at reaching their 1st Stagg bowl.  Hopefully against SJU which would be an interesting offensive show.
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.

No knock on the Mules D, but I think NCC is more than capable of putting up points on them. I'd be really surprised if they held Rutter & Co. under 24.

I was nodding along when you first made the prediction. And yeah, SJU v. NCC would be a fascinating matchup. Rutter v. Erdmann, the WR talents, the line play ... so many intriguing story lines in that one. Fingers crossed

After the game at Wheaton yesterday, while killing time before the airport, we ventured to Naperville and into The Lantern. Note to self: The Lantern is a NCC bar  ;D I visited with a few good natured NCC fans who were thrilled that Wheaton lost, I would think that is similar of how we would react to a St. Thomas loss. We ended up going next-door to Features for food & beers before heading to the airport. A good time was had by all!

Ah Features, spent many times there during the summer when I was home from JCU, back when I was first 21... I wished I had known you ventured into Naperville, I would have suggested O'Razio's by the train station!

O'Razio's is where I hang out afterwards whenever I go to a game at NCC, because there's inevitably a long wait for a train back to Chicago on that particular Metra line.

It sucks you in every time I'm there.. You lose all track of time and next thing you know, it's 2:00 am and they're calling Last Call... That and I don't think it's changed since the 70's when my dad used to frequent when he was at NCC and it was the "Nickel Inn"..

I would have said the Stagg is also for the Gagliardi Trophy but it gets awarded in Shenandoah before the game.

I think this is a tough call but I like Rutter over Erdman by a hair. The stats and results for these two are both really spectacular and having seen them both I can tell you they are pretty different but both very dangerous QB's. I have never seen a guy throw deep with such accuracy as Erdman and Rutter is much more systematic with his play, almost machine like.

Choosing between these two is very difficult. Both have led their teams to multiple epic wins this year. Both lead the nation in different categories. That said I like Rutter mainly because his loss is better than Erdman's loss this year and Rutter performed well in their loss while Erdman, relatively speaking, played poorly in his loss. That's the hair splitting difference I see. I think either is deserving of the trophy.

I think Erdmann has the challenge of being the first second repeat winner as well. There are probably a few voters swayed by a worthy candidacy like Rutter's, and the bias (perhaps subconscious) of a new face. If one team loses on Saturday, or one QB struggles, and the other team advances with its QB shining, I think the winning QB goes home with the hardware.

r

Kevin Burke of Mount Union was a repeat winner.
