Wally ranks the teams from each region here:

https://www.d3football.com/columns/around-the-nation/2021/giving-order-to-regional-rankings

Region 1 is very weak IMO. You have DelVal at 10, and then no one else in the region even receiving votes. A lot of meh SOS and ton of 2 loss teams.

QuoteThe MWC office has made it clear that it's total quarters, not percentage of quarters. Lake Forest chose to call their game at halftime and it was ruled an official game, so they hurt their own tiebreaker case slightly by doing so.

This is all really fascinating.
LF not finishing a game...
Chicago tied after 1q in a game they won by 70+...

LF = win and your in.
Monmouth = needs Chicago to beat LF for all four quarters and their in.
Chicago = impressive win over LF and get hope for a bid.

Exciting stuff. MWC hasn't anything exciting to happen in the conference in sometime.

Can Chicago and Wheaton both get bids?

Wally has Pool C candidates in region 5 ranked as Wheaton, Coe, Chicago. I didn't have it that way in my rankings but it shows you how bad it could be if Chicago has zero RRO, which is possible if they beat LF.

The bottom of R5's rankings are a hoot.  My current thinking here is that Lakeland isn't going to last beyond this week and somebody is coming in (or Lakeland beats Aurora and Aurora is out).  The most likely candidates to move in would be Monmouth or Benedictine.  Probably Monmouth.

While Chicago has no RRO's this week (and won't for next week's rankings purposes either), it seems pretty likely to me that if they beat LFC, they're going to have two RRO and be 1-1.  I do think LFC could survive a loss to Chicago and stay ranked, particularly if they are propped up by their win over Monmouth.

The story in R5 is that these rankings should be broad enough to hold a third CCIW team OR a third ARC team, but the third best teams in these leagues lost out of conference games that they normally don't and so you've got available rankings real estate for an extra NACC or MWC team.  It's fun for everybody except Wheaton, I presume.

Adding to the intrigue is that because LFC/Chicago takes place in Week 11, we won't know who got ranked and where in the final rankings used to select the teams until sometime after the bracket is released.  Projecting that final ranking, and subsequently the at-large selections, is going to be challenging and fun.

Coe is going have that RRO win and stay relevant here unless Hope loses twice in the next 8 days.  Hope could lose to Albion this weekend and stay ranked because Region 4 is a primary criteria wasteland after about three teams.

Their fate is almost certainly sealed with two losses (Whitewater and Lacrosse), but that Oshkosh SOS is otherworldly...

Wally, since we don't yet have a championship handbook, do we have any idea who is actually on the regional and national committees?

I assume the handbook exists, but somebody at the NCAA hasn't put in the IT help ticket to get it linked to the website.  Not a great look now that we're kind of in the pre-championship weeks.

I believe Duey Naatz (AD, UW-Stout) is the national chair.  After that I'm not sure who all sits on the RACs and the national committee.

Pantagraph article about IWU @Wheaton

"RB Anthony Marre is now in the Illinois Wesleyan record book at No. 3 for single-game rushing, total offense (315 yards) and longest run from scrimmage. That earned Marre the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Offensive Player of the Week honors.

However, the Titans' senior halfback believes something else could top all of that — beating No. 6-ranked Wheaton on the road at 1 p.m. Saturday at McCully Stadium.

"That would be 10 times better than what I did in the previous game,"  said Marre. "This would make the season for us. I think we're up to the challenge."

"We learned in the North Central game we can go toe to toe with anybody in the first half. We also learned we have to play four quarters," said IWU head coach Norm Eash, as North Central was unstoppable in the second half while winning 55-7.

"It's going to be that type of game again. It's going to be a physical, high intensity game. We're playing one of best defenses in the country and league."

[/b]

In an video attached to the article, Marre said about the team's mindset going into Wheaton:

"We want to shock the world, shock the nation.  We want to play our game and show what we can really do. Show the CCIW and the nation how we can actually really play.

We can play with anybody. We showed against NCC that we can compete. We aren't just the little guys, we can compete with the big guys."

Bloomington brainwash is bad for your health!  That kid will be seeing lots of the Wheaton front 7 tomorrow and wondering what the heck is going on! Because Wheaton doesn't have enough incentive needing a win to stay in the playoff hunt, CCIW race and general beat Norm feelings!

The only team to rush for over 100 yds on Wheaton this year is North Central (Lehnen 66 yds and Greenfield 55 yds) and they are a top ten rushing team in the country (285 yds a game). If IWU can rush the ball against the Thunder, they will definitely be a problem tomorrow.

Good quotes by Marre. Shame on those that want to take shots at a 21 year old kid. If IWU can top 100 yards rushing against Wheaton Norm will not need to use the "Magic" blue pill tonight (Shots at Norm are respected).

North Central is pretty good. Also, there is a pack of Mount Union fans at the game.

The feed, unfortunately, is doing nothing but buffering... :(

It's not worth watching to be honest. The Bears forced a third down. Otherwise, a complete blood bath.
