Congratulations NCC. A dominant performance. Not sure that last year was the motivation, but this year you are the team and program to beat.

CruFrenzy

Congratulations to North Central.

We knew going into Naperville after last year's Stagg Bowl result was never going to be easy, it was an absolute hornets nest & most importantly NCC has taken some BIG strides on both sides of the ball in physicality and this team was LASER focused and your team deserves to be commended for that. Really really a well earned win from North Central today.

This team carries themselves like a championship caliber team, which I believe they are & will be. If I can get NCC anywhere near -7 next week I'll be happy to lay the number for a few bones and root it in. Also thought the Cardinals were swaggy but also classy today.. well done again.

As for my Cru, congrats to the seniors on leaving a big time legacy. We'll be back.

Go beat Mount Union!

Cardinals!
Pleasure to see such a fundamentally sound TEAM.

Congrats to Brad Spencer and his staff and players. Very impressive win. And Luke Lehnen was a stud yesterday running for 139 yds and throwing 4 TD's. He made plays. MHB was the one team who I thought could slow down the NCC rushing attack but 294 yds later, the train is still rolling.

In my opinion, the two leading candidates for the Gagliardi face off next Friday.

Well, maybe a little scary? ???   ;)  ::)

So young hero, ask yourself............................Do you want to go to college, get a good education, and play (basketball)(football), or do you want to go to college, get a good education, and watch (basketball)(football)? 🤔 😏

Don't surround yourself with yourself. 🧍🏼‍♂️(Yes)

Congratulations to the NCC faithful. Great game. You absolutely kicked our butts in all phases of the game. Good Luck next week. Beat UMU
My wife and I are Alumni of both UMHB and HSU.  You think you are confused, my kids don't know which Purple and Gold team to pull for.

Really looking forward to Friday night.  Another thing to note--at this point, Re: "The Purple Powers" all of the dragons are slain, now, with wins over UMU, UWW and UMHB in the past few years.  Could make a case that we're missing a win over Linfield, but they haven't been beyond the quarters since Brett Elliott graduated in 2004.  IF the Cards can get it done on Friday night, that will be 3 consecutive over UMU.  I wonder who is 1) The last team to beat UMU 3 consecutive times? and 2) what teams lead an all-time series vs. UMU?

I've been around the Mount Union Program since 1990.

In my memory, the only teams (besides NCC) to beat MTU multiple times in a row are UMHB and UWW.

I don't think either team won three in a row though.

Series Information can be found here:  http://mtun.sidearmsports.com/sports/2021/7/14/series-records.aspx

Mount Union lost:
Four straight to Miami (OH) from 1914-1939
Eight straight to Michigan from 1913-1939
Four straight to Michigan State from 1911-1914

As far as Losing 3 Straight to a D3 School, I would have to guess it happened in the 1980s or 70s.

Mount Union did lost to UWW 5 times in a row.

NCC2010

couple of small observations from the game.  I know it was mentioned previously about all the injuries to NCC wide receiver core, so it was nice to see Peter Braithwaite was able to play again for the first time these playoffs.  didnt have any catches but had a few deep targets and it will certainly help having him out there Friday.  Also, NCC started Jahron Williams at corner for the first time this season.  after rummel moved to WR, Jahmar Daniel had been starting at corner but he gave up 2 longish completions in the Ithaca game and was pulled for Williams.  Not sure if Williams starting was because he's bigger and possibly matched up better with UMHB, but still notable either way imo.  NCC secondary will obviously have their hands full with Plunk, Ruby and Co. on Friday.

Also, have to shoutout how well Lehnen played.  he converted three 3rd and 8+ on the first drive (1 with his legs, 1 on swing pass to Greenfield, 1 on the TD pass).  he really only had 1 poor decision the whole night which was the shouldve been intercepted pass near the end of the 2nd qtr.

pretty cool that NCC is playing in 3 straight stagg bowls with each coming against 1 of the 3 purple powers

Holy cow--that's some fast research.  Thanks for doing that.  I'd have NEVER guessed 5x.  Nevertheless, 3x is still a TALL task.

Re: the secondary - Walker seemed to be laboring after a Jordan catch in the 2nd quarter. Hopefully nothing serious (he stayed in the game so it couldn't have been too bad) but he was definitely limping a bit after.
You win! You always do!

Pat Coleman

I saw Cusumano limping after a couple of plays late in the game as well.

Linfield played in the semi finals in 2014 at UWW & also made the semis in 2015 vs St. Thomas. Lost two competitive games behind one of the best D3 QB's of all time, Sam Riddle. Linfield has not gotten over the QTR final hump since then though...
