Elmhurst @ Wheaton -52.3
Carroll @ NCC -47.8
Millikin @ WashU -44.5
NPU -15.5 @ Carthage
Augie @ IWU -9.1

3 predicted blowouts. 2 predicted not blowouts...
Btw thru 30 conference games we are running 60% blowouts, 40% not blowouts.

CCI Double U in every game except for probably Augie/IWU.

Quote from: CuriousCCIWfan on October 28, 2024, 07:15:07 PMReplying to USEE on the pass interference call against Wash U. It reminds me of the Wheaton vs. Oshkosh call when they called pass interference on the Thundar with a minute to go in the game. I thought the call was terrible, the pulling of the jersey was so insignificant, and if they didn't make that call Wheaton would have beaten Oshkosh and just think where they would be ranked today!!! That still makes me mad, but I guess that is the way it goes!

Sadly, that was also interference. It was a bummer because it came on a 4th down incompletion on the final drive that would have ended the game in Wheaton's favor. You can argue it was insignificant or shouldn't have been called but there was a grab and the ref called it. The WashU play was much more obvious.

Congrats to NPU safety Ben Butler, who followed up his CCIW Defensive POW award by being named to the D3football.com Team of the Week.

I had trouble getting this to post on Sunday, so thank you for giving me an excuse to finally get to use this.

Who wins Augie/IWU game?  I saw IWU play again WashU. I have not seen Augie play yet other than a few minutes against Carroll.

Quote from: GusD on October 29, 2024, 01:44:58 AMSeems the 2 big CCIW FB questions of the week are;

1. Will all the possible PI calls on Saturday be made correctly?
2. Will the IWU coach shake hands with the Augie staff after their game?
3. Does NPU get win #6 on the road @ Carthage?

Totally agree, CF. I know that Gus was just kidding, but the unique historical circumstances make that NPU @ Carthage game as massive as a 5-2 vs. 1-6 game can possibly get.

Augie has a good running game. Top rusher in the conference. Their WR #3 stuck out to me in our game. He is 4rth in receiving yards. Not sure what their QB situation is? They started #10 against us. Their problem is their pass D, #9 in the conference.
IWU D is #2 against the run. Got to lean towards IWU being at home but a Augie win would not surprise me.

I'm cheering for Augie, simply for the chance of more Norm drama  8-)

LOL!

One more Norm story from last week, and then I'll leave him be.

We had a new P.A. guy in the press box this past Saturday. He does public-address announcing at sporting events all over Chicagoland. He told us that he doesn't have much contact with the local CCIW schools, though, so in order to prep for the game he'd done some online homework on the NPU and IWU football teams. His research led him to some podcast Norm had been on last week. (I know that IWU's campus radio station has some sort of Titans sports show; perhaps that's what he had heard.) According to the P.A. guy, when asked about IWU's upcoming opponent Norm said something like, "North Park is always a tough trip for us." But apparently it wasn't because the Vikings were any good; it was because it was a trip to what Norm called "the inner city."

"Inner city"?

We howled with laughter over that. Either Norm truly believes that NPU is located in the heart of some tenement hellhole and therefore fancied himself to be Snake Plissken in Escape from New York, or it was some sort of gratuitous dig at NPU on his part.

Shame that he couldn't dodge that bullet on Saturday. ;)

Norm has been an embarrassment for a long time and seems to be getting worse.  Wish I could make the Augie game but am working on getting over to see NCC and IWU.  He is always well behaved in that match-up.

Until he tells the Pantagraph that they beat themselves after a 59-6 drubbing.

I am sure it's not public knowledge but I'd be interested to know what his contract looks like as far as remaining time... wonder if they're counting down the days.

Is it too early to crown Carroll the WIAC champs? Do we have to wait and see what happens with Stout?

Yet here we are with him still the HC at IWU and people still clamoring for his firing. Seems like it will never happen
