Isthmus lineup is not based on NPI. It's based on conference selection and tie breakers I believe.

Yep. UWRF is 7-3 best non playoff team I'm assuming

Someone posted on twitter I guess if it's just the conference games they use it's a 4 way tie and UWS goes basically it comes down to UWRF has been there before and UWS has not.

So Wheaton is 1st team out and NCC drops to #5 and will be on the road in the quarters if seeding holds.
You win! You always do!

After watching this Wheaton offense, they coulda gone far in the bracket and would handle the majority of these playoff teams. Sigh.

You want to go 9-1 and not have to rely on others.

I'll be rooting for NCC but I definitely felt better about their chances last year.

Projected bracket puts them with Cortland.

IMO this mock bracket is pretty good for NCC. Hard to compare vs last years path since you likely aren't playing a bad conference champ in round 1. Traveling to Cortland is tough but I would guess the coaches and players want the chance to play them again, regardless of where the game is at.

I don't know that I would want Bethel in the first game. #1 rush defense in D3FB. Gave up -9 rushing yards on 27 attempts to St. John's yesterday.

The option is Bethel or UWL pretty much if the committee sticks to keeping the #7/8 seeds vs #2 seeds. I'd rather play Bethel IMO.

It's why they need to adjust the dials. Wheaton vs UWO is a great noncon matchup we should want to promote. But why would Wheaton or Bethel schedule a Wartburg or UWO again? The risk outweighs the reward. Better to go find some UMAC or MWC canon fodder.

I'm starting to get a better understanding of what it means to be #1 vs. #2. ;D

There is the slightest chance that UWL/Bethel get paired in the St Johns bracket (tough scene for Lake Forest in that case lol) and then NCC gets winner of Coe/plus a probable team that would fly.  All really depends on if the committee sticks more to the straight seedings or overrides seeds to keep flights at a bare minimum. But if seeding has the priority, we're looking at some combination of Coe/Bethel/UWL

Quote from: hazzben on November 11, 2024, 04:40:18 PMReading Frank's post honestly made me chuckle. He does a bunch of math and then basically concludes 'my guess is that Wheaton's chances of getting in are 25(ish)% due to a lot of variables I haven't fully accounted for.'

He may not like Logan's metric, but there's no question that quantifiable data is driving the projections. Real games have to be played, it's still just a projection. But Frank isn't doing anything close to that. His 25% is basically pulled out of a hat.

In the season long battle between data analytics and subjectivity, did subjectivity win? ;D

UWO Titan 78

The Wheaton team I saw yesterday was not the same team I saw play Oshkosh in week 1. That is the problem with a model that just uses data to pick the field. Wheaton was incorporating a band new offensive line and quarterback early in the season. They were hitting on all cylinders yesterday. This team would've been a tough out in the NCAA playoffs.
