That is the problem with a model that just uses data to pick the field. Wheaton was incorporating a band new offensive line and quarterback early in the season. They were hitting on all cylinders yesterday. This team would've been a tough out in the NCAA playoffs.

As a Wheaton fan, thank you for saying that! With this current system of NPI I wouldn't want to schedule Oshkosh anymore because the cost of losing now is too high. Maybe they should schedule a Northwestern or a team from Michigan conference so they would keep the 9-1🤷🏽♂️

Wasn't there a rule that a conference had to have a certain number of teams to get an AQ? Northwestern of the UMAC won 7 games but only beat 5 teams. They played and beat two of those teams twice. WIAC (and some CCIW) teams are always going to struggle with finding out of conference games. Seems like allowing teams to beat the same team more than once isn't a great use of the data either.

NCC2010

Looks Like NCC path is Whitworth/Ponoma Pitzer winner, Hope/Aurora winner, then probably on the road to Cortland and then the winner of the St Johns/WIAC bracket in the semis.  Pretty good  result when you condsider who they couldve gotten stuck with in the first 2 rounds. Left side of the bracket stacked again like last season.

Quadrant is about what I expected. Was hoping to be opposite of St John's though. Gonna have to earn the trip to the Stagg.
You win! You always do!

Requirement is 6 teams for an auto bid, but there's also a two year grace period if a league has less (hence why Hardin-Simmons got a Pool A).

I don't love the draw, but I don't hate it. They'll be ready though I'm sure.

If your wondering  how Stout got in Isthmus this is best explanation I saw. They use the conference record and 4 teams were 4-3.

It exists, and that number is six teams.

NCC2010

Per Logan, NCC has the 3rd easiest path to the semis in the entire bracket.  Not too bad, and if we can get some upsets, Endicott over Cortland possibly (not holding my breath but they played a very close game in last year's playoffs), and if St John's loses then NCC would host until the Stagg.

UWO and Wheaton

Logan was on the podcast today and said this as well. If UWO had beaten River Falls Saturday then UWO and Wheaton would be in the playoffs and JCU/UMHB would be out. That just confirms the fact this system rewards win percentage above all else. If I am Wheaton I get out of all scheduling with any teams that might add a second loss. That's a sad reality for D3 fans who want to see stronger OOC matchups but leaving your fate in the hands of other teams is not a strategy that is rewarded under this system.

Regarding Stout, Carroll beat them in the non conference game 28-16. We were able to stop some of their drives on 5 sacks and a pick. They finished 3rd in the WIAC in scoring averaging 33.8/game.
On defense they were 2nd against the run and last (8th) against the pass.

I mean, not above all else, right? Wheaton's win percentage doesn't change if UWO beats UWRF. Wheaton's SOS does.

The one thing I found odd on the bracketing is some better ranked teams can't host because of some limitation to their stadium?
