Mike Murray definitely did not get fired from Elmhurst.  He left to take the IWU defensive coordinator job.

IWU has a new President, Sheahon Zenger, who is athletic-minded. Sheahon was the A.D. at D1 Kansas...and D1 Illinois State before that.  I think he's already helping get a few things done, in terms of Athletics support, that would not have in the past.

Nobody knows the absolute hell that was the 2022 Elmhurst season more than me.

Being told not to recruit and basically knowing the end was near was one of the most frustrating times of my life. We genuinely felt that if we had been able to actually coach and recruit, like a normal D3 football coach, that we could have been very respectable in the CCIW.

Hopefully the egos can be put aside and somebody who is willing to put in TIME and effort will be hired so that the kids and community can support a winner. Sadly I don't know if certain administration want to see that happen though.

It certainly doesn't speak well of Elmhurst's situation if the EU head coach actively sought out an assistant's job within the same league. That's nothing less than a slap in the face to everyone who follows the Bluejays.

In recent years Elmhurst has seemed to be spinning its wheels in the mud in terms of football as much as Millikin has. While it's making me feel good that my own school's finally managed to get out of the mire and back onto the highway, it's also making me even more distressed in retrospect to think about what happened on September 28 at Langhorst.

Quote from: USee on January 06, 2025, 10:37:47 PM2019 NCC won their first Stagg and Gagliardi QB Broc Rutter was done and Cardinal fans were crying about the next year, which was Luke Lehnens freshman year. Boo hoo.....

NCC just got a commit from Ferris St QB Demir Ashiru. Maybe he can continue the run I'm sure you'd love that USee 😂

A second QB is also now in the fold. NCC has received a commitment from 6'1 190 pound All-State QB Lane Wheelwright of  Farmington, IL. This season he completed 60% of his passes (128 of 214) for 2,097 yards and 15 touchdowns while rushing for an additional 10 touchdowns. He missed the final two regular season games due to injury, but returned for the playoffs.

I don't have any additional details at this time, but I've heard that two more QBs have committed, or will likely soon commit to NCC.

The other 2 QBs that I am aware of are Alex Graham, transferring in as a redshirt freshman from D2 McKendree and Kellen Davis, an incoming freshman out of Champaign Centennial high school.

I am keeping a running list of recruits who have "committed" via social media and was going to post later in the offseason if other NCC fans are interested.

GusD

If Graham and Davis are in the fold, then there is yet another possibility on the horizon. Details are still sketchy, but I believe he is a current senior at a west suburban HS. A true freshman next season.

I'd be willing to bet that it is next season and the season following, considering they played Wheaton in a home and away series the last 2 seasons.

The CSC Academic All-America teams were released today, and the D3 edition includes five CCIW players. Three are from North Central, unsurprisingly, and one is from Augustana, but I want to specifically recognize North Park junior WR Jereme Ombogo, a Marketing & Economics double major from Houston, TX with a 3.94 gpa who was named to the CSC Academic All-America second team. Congrats, Jereme!

Great -- glad this is finally public. I was told but was asked to wait for the school to announce. :)

Wheaton with an absolute brutal start to the post-Gio Weeks era.  4 of 5 on the road including the presumptive pre-season #1 and #2 teams in the county (both on the road).  woof
