Hey Congrats to NP on 2-0.......and what is going on with IWU?  I'm anxious to hear about Lakeland Vs. Carthage later...Should be a good one.
Chicago State University Baseball.....A new beginning, turning around one of the worst Division 1 baseball programs starts right now....Any questions feel free to ask.

NCC_Alum62,

At least someone is gettin a kick out of my name.  Like washdupcard was saying...NCC knew everything DeGeorge had and it didnt take much to take care of business.  The players ultimately will either execute or not but they still knew degeorges defense.  There might have been a few adjustments but everything was nearly the same.  Personally I say if youre going to go to a different school in the same conference you're gonna have to change things.  You cant expect to go to a new school and take out the team you just came from without changing things up.  But like I've said before, I do think NCC is a good team and the players they have a good...personally I dont want to say great but yeah i wont say it.

For those wondering about IWU, remember UW-Eau Claire is one of the top teams in the country (top 10 at least).  Personally, I expected this outcome - although not quite that bad.  Only the top 2 or 3 teams in the CCIW could give Eau-Claire a run for their money.

Yeah NPU is 2-0, but they have yet to play anyone significant.  Wait until the conference schedule before you get too hyped.

Mr. Ypsi

blue_balls,

That is exactly my question - what the heck has gone wrong in Bloomington?!

This is the same coach that won 79% of his conference games from '90-'01, yet 38% since then!  The Titans should not lose THAT badly to anyone short of Linfield or the Mount (and, arguably, not even then).

At Penn State they blamed it on JoePa sticking around too long (and even there they seem to be turning it around), but Eash is not 136 years old!

HAVE the wheels come totally off the bus, and, if so, WHY?  For MANY years, the CCIW had the Big 4 (in alphabetical order: Augie, IWU, Millikin, and Wheaton) and the little four.  It appears that IWU has now perennially dropped out of the mix, while Carthage (and perhaps Elmhurst) has joined.

IF IWU has consciously de-emphasized fball for the sake of other sports, I can live with that.  Although fball (and MEN's bball) usually get all the attention, I think all sports deserve equal credit.  But I somehow doubt that is the explanation.  So, to return to the original question, WHAT THE HECK IS HAPPENING (or more correctly, NOT happening) IN BLOOMINGTON??

Mr ypsi....you better mention NCC....or your gonna have a whole bunch of cardinal people ready to hunt you down....How bout the Irish going to 2-0 today and Iowa getting beat....All around great day for me and U of I won.....Outstanding....

OOPS!

I meant NCC rather than Elmhurst (with no slight meant to the 'hurst!).  :-[

Catholic throws 67 passes against Augie today...reminds me of the Viking-Crusader games in the Keith Bishop era. Can't get too excited about today's win, Catholic is apparently pretty bad. The running game was obviously in fine form (and they won while throwing only 2 passes!). Defensively, 445 passing yards allowed, but it looks like a lot of that came during garbage time. They've got Platteville's aerial circus next game so it's still pretty scary. One thing I noticed is that they've only got three sacks on 91 opponent pass plays. Not to harp on the defense, but they have to pressure the quarterback better than that.

washdupcard

Spencer and Kniss lighting it up in Naperville.

Spencer with 3td's and over 140yds receiving...Kniss with over 200 yds passing 3td passes.

Spencer in only the second game of his second season is only 30 or so yards away from the record for career receiving yards at NCC.

30-14 Cards up and driving in 3rd Quarter...  Not sure why the score is relatively close.  Heading into the 2nd Half, Cards were only up a score and a field goal.

Once again...I am reminded by the inept performance of the cardinal radio announcers that getting the score over the radio takes approx. 30 min.  I'm going to staple a note to their forwards to give the score on a regular basis.  Very, Very Frustrating.

washdupcard

Cards are using a lot of spread formations...a lot of 3, 4, 5 WR formations.  I'm intrigued as to why they are placing so much emphasis on the pass against Benedictine.

Cards now up 37-14...Kniss around 300yds passing 4 passing td's.

Mugsy:  Please get some perspective and knowledge.  Can you name the last time NP started 2-0?  Probably Not.   Do you know the score when the Maroons pasted the Vikings last year?  Probably Not.

I sent an email to my NP friends on TH, suspecting that the Vikings could travel undefeated to lowly Eureka College in week three with a 2-0 record.  The problem with this scenario is that the Vikes will probably win and travel to Augie with a 3-0 record.  Yikes!!!!!!!!  Do not misunderstand me, I am not thinking NP will sneak up on Augie.  I doubt NP has beaten Augie since Beggars Banquet got released, but am not 100% certain.

Regardless, if the NP Vikings start the season 3-0 and win one CCIW game, the populace will be smiling.  And there is also hope with hoops!

NP QB Mike Haehn is the best thrower in the CCIW; however, he needs a beafier line and an inside running game.

markerickson,
So just because I question getting all geared up about NPU being 2-0 during their notoriously lame non-conference schedule, I have no perspective and knowledge.  Seems to me you need to get in touch with reality.

NPU is improving, that's great, really!  But before you totally lose it in excitement, remember who they play in their non-conference schedule.

BTW: My wife graduated from North Park, and I've attended a Covenant Church all my life.  I think I have a reasonable perspective on NPU football and their .128 winning percentage in 40+ years of CCIW football!

Oh... and before anyone jumps on me... I'm confusing UW-Eau Claire with UW-La Crosse.  It is La Crosse that is typically one of the tougher teams in the country (I believe they have a national championship).  However UW-Eau Claire is a tough oppenent as well - but not to the level of pasting they gave IWU today.
