augiedogie,

I think that you said it pretty well. I was extremely happy with how the game turned out. Who cares how you win, the fact is a win is win. The CCIW championship needed not be decided in a pretty fashion every year, it is going to have it questionable calls and tough gritty games, that is what the game of football should be about.

1. Rushing for 335 yards against a defense that had been allowing only 126.6.

2. Holding an offense that had averaged 483.8 yards and 40.9 points a game to 330 yards and 17 points.

3. Holding the same offense to three scores in 13 possessions (with six three-and-outs).

I would think they're extremely proud to have won that way.

vikes35,

I agree, I'll be happy if they never have to throw a pass. I just wish they were a little better at it when they do need to.

Actually there were a few Augie posters debating the wing T last year.

Congrats to Augie on a hard fought victory yesterday.  And congrats to North Central on a hard fought game.  It appears that with good effort next week, we'll have 2 teams in the post-season.

Mugsy, usee does have his details covered!  If I could only get him to start using the caps key, I could read his posts twice as fast!

What really hurts?  Looking back at the loss to Wesleyan.  I'd love for this to be a 3-way race right now, but I have accepted the fact that Wheaton is not on the radar, even with a win against Augie next week.

The late hit at least from where I was at, directly looking at the play from about 10 rows up, looked as if it was a good call. Radtke looked to deliver if not a late hit a somewhat cheap shot that could have been ruled unnecessary roughness.

..... This was from a previous post.......

I am sick of everyone talking crap about Lenny Radtke and saying that he was the one who had the penalty called on him. The call was for a late hit and I was at the game, he actually made the tackle on the play so how could of it have been a late hit by him. This is from North Central's web-site. I heard the referee actually call the flag on #98 for the cards so you might have mistaken it for #8 maybe.

A 1-10 A39   AUGUSTANA drive start at 03:37 (4th).
A 1-10 A39   Cozzi, Greg rush for no gain to the AUGIE39 (McKinnon, Brock;Radtke, Lenny).
     A 2-10 A39   PENALTY NCC personal foul 17 yards to the NCC44, 1ST DOWN
                  AUGIE.

So please stop bringing up stuipid sh*t that he is a dirty player because it is obvious that he is the best LB in the conference and he doesnt need to play dirty to show how good he is.

Also, I have been watching football for a long time and my two cents on that flag at the end of the game was the worst call I have ever seen. I think if NC had jumped offsides it would have been a different story but that ref throwing the flag actually gave Augie 2 chances whether he made/missed the first field goal anyways. Totally Shafted!!!

And Augie6, since Mr. Velasquez is my brother in law, this Wheaton fan does appreciate Augie history in a big way.  I still am amazed that in 4 years of Augie football, he only lost 1 game!  The system continues...

Augie should be proud they won...bad calls are everywhere and they've been against aguie the last three years, its about time something came augies way.

Cardinaldad,  Should the White Sox be happy they won the way they did, with all of the horrible calls the umps made in their games.  The fact is you still have to play the game and take advantage of the breaks given to you and like many posters have said, NC had a lot of chances (3 fumbles by augie) and they didnt capitalize.  Thats the way it goes.

Tmac the board has been over the fact that Radtke did more that just have an aledged late hit. Yes he is a great linebacker, but he showed little class in the loss.  Over the past three years I have seen Augies chances of a confrence championship and a playoff spot taken from them during the last game of the season.  That being said I have never seen Augie players act as he did after the game talking to sh it  to the fans after the game.

Congrats to the Auggie Vikings.  That was a huge win.  I have been cheering for you every week.  Not only to help the Dutch get into the playoffs but because I was impressed with your team when we met the first week of the season.  You guys know how to run the ball.  That fullback you have really ate us up.  Hope you can finish your season up well this weekend and make a great run deep into the playoffs.  Good luck.

Hiker... lol.  Usee must have spilled a Coke on the Shift key and yes... he is a stickler for detail.

I couldn't agree more... I was just thinking last night of how painful the loss to IWU seems now.  Just think how important the Wheaton/Augie game would be.  Yet another brawl for it all, down to the last game.  2 weeks in a row with it all on the line.  It would have been so sweet.  To me the loss to IWU rates right up there with the 22-16 loss to Elmhurst back in 1999 or 2000 when Wheaton was 7-0 and Elmhurst was 1-6.  And before Usee corrects me on the year, I couldn't double check because the twins are hungry and I need to run upstairs to feed them...  ;)  I think it was 1999...

Do you think Shepherd may be Torchy or thehill reincarnated???

Congrats to Augie. Sounds like it was a good game if you read in between all the lines!

Little late TMAC.  And i dont' think that anyone ever said Radtke was a dirty player i think the only comment was that he made a mental error in a crucial time of the game.  And I thought the penalty was on him maybe it was on 98 i don't know that for sure so i will take your word for that.  And you are right he is a great linebacker.

Redmen96

Listen guys I need to apologize.  I am one of the ones that spells Augie incorrectly (Auggie).  I don't know why I can't get myself to hit the g button only once.  I played in the CCIW for four years and should know better.  Now that I have that off my chest, if it happens again I am not going to lose any sleep over it, and neither should you.

oh yeah because of the computers use growing while I was in school and spell checker my spelling abilities are almost gone.  So don't jump on me if you see other spelling mistakes.

I love the fact that Augie can grind teams down with their running game, but I am one of the Augie fans who endorsed having at least some semblance of a passing attack. I am also the one who said it was a necessary component of our offense, when we fall behind late in a game. I still feel the same way, but fortunately it was not needed yesterday.

I also think NCC fans who are still bitter need to just relax. The Cardinals with a near certain win against NP will be in the playoffs, and that is the primary goal each season. They also have a program that is solidly entrenched now as a power in the CCIW.

Augie on the other hand had to win yesterday to make the playoffs. It's good for all of us to have two CCIW reps in the playoffs.

So life is good.
