Augiedogie,  I didn't know that Rock Island had a professional team at one time.  I do know that Rock Island is the only place along the Mississippi River line that the river flows E-W and not N-S.

Cool fact. I had no clue which way the water flows.

What about Journell as Coach of the Year?  Elmhurst has been competitive with everyone including beating teams they should beat (Wheaton can't say that) and beaten Millikin which many thought they would lose to.  If Elmhurst handles their business at home against Carthage I think he would be an excellent candidate.  However, there is the natural bias to go with the conference champion's head coach.

Augiedogie,  a little of my Geography and Environmental Planning Major in me.  I try to incorporate something geographical in nature in all my broadcasts.  ;D

Jaybird:
I think Elmhurst's coach would be an excellent choice for COY if there wasn't the possibility of 2 teams going 9-1 this year.  Augie beat teams that they should have beat (IWU, NPU, Milikin) and teams that were ranked higher than them at the time (CC, NCC), and are one 2 pt. conversion away from being 9-0 this year.  NCC came out of no where (other than the people inside the CCIW who thought this would happen) to have a great season as well. Hopefully Elmhurst continues to improve on the season they had this year next year, and maybe then will Journell win coach of the year.

Usee:
I can see Thorne winning COY this year if Augie loses on Saturday.  It will be just like last year when Carthage won a share of the tittle with Wheaton and Rucks won COY.

Pat,

If you were a betting man, what is the percentage chance NC will get the pool C bid if they beat North Park this weekend?

I know you cant be sure, but if NC wins vs. NP this weekend, and Augie Beats Wheaton, what are the chances of NC getting a home game in the 1st round?

Also, if NC wins and Wheaton upsets Augie, will NC get a home game and do we have a chance of getting 3 in the postseason?

I am entirely unaware of how the Pool B and C bids work, as when I was at NC we were never really in the playoff hunt, and when our season was over, we focused on seeing if we could drink 120 shots of beer in 2 hours and then check the scores at the end of the day.

We had to stretch it to see if we could make the night a complete debacle..it usually worked

formercard- i am sure pat will answer but here is what i think he will say:

no chance for 3 teams. they won't take any 2 loss teams and definately not a third from the same conference. (see OAC board)

Augie will certainly host if they win saturday. I think there is a decent chance that both augie and ncc will host in round 1. usually the pool C teams don't host but wheaton did last year and carthage would have if they had a pressbox. you will know more when the regional rankings come out this week. augie probably has a chance for hosting in 2 rounds. depends on if they bring someone higher in from the west bracket. the top 4 seeds usually host the bottom 4 seeds (last year it was top 3 sans the team w the bye).

i don't know how the committee will treat ncc/augie if wheaton wins. i don't think they would seed a pool c ahead of the AQ from the same conf. but ncc will be a 1 loss team v a 2 loss augie. could be interesting. it also depends on wabash if they win this week v depauw. bottom line is if ncc and augie are in the top 4 seeds in the north, they will host. mt union will be 1 of the top 4 and wabash will be the other unless they lose, they will then be a 4 or a 5. lots of variables.

Thanks for the input.  What day does the regional rankings come out?  I would say most Cardinal fans will be rooting for the Thunder this weekend to take down Augie.  It will give us a share of the conference championship and maybe a chance to host Augie in the second round @ Cardinal Stadium, if the seedings allow it.   That Ittersagen kid needs to get a cause a few more turnovers this week (maybe take another one to the house) against the Vikings so they dont play ball control against the Thunder Defense.

i really can't imagine ncc as a pool C being seeded ahead of the AQ from the same conference, even if augie has 2 losses.

btw, as long as ncc beats north park they are a lock as a pool C.

wheaty

to any North Parkers:  You guys are going to use your secret weapon this week right? right?!  Come on guys.  You do have a secret weapon or game plan don't you?!   ;)

Brick

Seems to me that Wheaty really hates NCC for some reason,....Personally I wouldn't mind seeing them sometime in the playoff sjust so we can beat them again and all the NCC posters will quit complaining about bad calls and weather!

I totally agree. Both teams probably want to play again. Plus, how great of a game would that be (again).

Mr. Ypsi

But as late as possible, please!  Let's have both get at least a couple of wins first!
