on Gant, i wouldn't change anything on the cciw picks but if i were drafting a team from the cciw pool he would be my 2nd reciever after spencer. thats just my opinion

I agree with you, he si one of the fastest in the conference and the stats don't lie. For those who don't believe should see some film

the more i look at capital the more i think the cards will have their hands full. this will be the best defense they have faced all year and probably better than carthage last year. 42 sacks and 21 ints!! thats sick. they are not that big and Ric says they are very fast.

all i can say is the cardinal D better play its best game because i don't see ncc scoring many points. ncc is high powered on offense but this d is another level. i have seen this level of d by muc in alliance this past year and wheaton's offenses have been pretty good. so don't come on here saying how many points ncc will score on these guys because i can tell you it won't be many. and cap's offense is not far behind the ncc offense. they have a 6'6" reciever and a couple stud lineman to go with a very good qb.

all that and their head coach, jim collins, is former ocoordinator at iwu. he was probably one of the best offensive minds this conf has had. his offenses were all very good.

buckle up, this will not be a cakewalk.

Usee,

I don't think that anyone has said this will be a cakewalk.  Just about every NCC poster on here has talked about the quality opponent that Capital is.  I have heard that their defense just flies around, which as you said, compares with last year's Carthage team.  I anticipate a great game.  I really feel that Holden will have to play a huge part in this game for the Cardinals to pull this off.  I do agree with you that the defense will have to step it up a notch against Cap.  I am looking forward to what should be the best game in the entire first round of the playoffs!

This game won't be a cakewalk. And, I don't think it will be low scoring. I expect a shootout. I hope Capital isn't hoping for a low scoring game.  Better come with guns loaded.

The only team that slowed North Central this season was Augie, and the weather played a huge factor in that. It was pointed out that Capital had 42 sacks and 21 ints. Well the NCC defense had 25 interceptions so they aren't exactly wallflowers. Kniss has been sacked a lot - 26 times. Capital could have 5-6 sacks in the game.

Coach,

Just a little humor.  Sherman is well respected, he just was on a horrible team which really hurt him in the voting i'm sure.

capital hasn't given up more than 14 pts other than to mt union (which it lead 17-14 in the 4th qtr--muc is the #1 offense in the nation). i don't see this being a shootout. speed kills and ncc hasn't seen speed like this yet this year. i don't see ncc scoring more than 21. I hope they can keep capital that low. turnovers will be the key: who gets them and who capitalizes (no pun intended). i am thinking a 21-17 type game.

I haven't seen it here, but Robin Cooper resigned as head coach at NPU in the team huddle after the game yesterday at NCC.  So 'long coach.

5 wide,

The answer is yes.

Jbird your an idiot  This is defensive line production in the CCIW.   Obviously Things are still pretty Political or Matt Kelly and Brian Keaton would be first team All CCIW.  Kelly didnt even make 2nd team but he was number two in production for the conference.  Aaron Call didnt even make it into the top 50 in tackles, top 10 in sacks, or top 10 for tackles for a loss.  As far as statatistics go here is your first team All CCIW DL.

Studebaker, And  WHEA SO  7 DE    21  24    45   6.4    3

Kelly, Matt             ELMH SO  7 DL    20  15    35   5.0    7

Keaton, Brian         ELMH JR  7 DL    17  16    33   4.7    2

Stephens, Mike        IWU      7 DL     22   9    31   4.4    6

Anderson, M          CART SR  6 DL     23   2    25   4.2    7

Aaron Call from Augie has no business on this team...the same can be said for second teamers: Chris Williams (Millikin), Jeremy Hall (Augastana), or Jason Kalinowski (Carthage)

Next to Studebaker from wheaton, Matt Kelly is by far the best Defensive Lineman in the CCIW.

Sack Attack, I'm not sure where this came from and why your poking a shot at me in particular.  I agree Elmhurst had if not the best D-Lines, one of the top 3 in the CCIW... Kelly, Keaton, Irps, Heff, etc.  Those who have talked to me and listen to our broadcasts know how I felt about our D-Line.  I didn't place Studebaker in front of Kelly or Keaton, so I don't see where "you're an idiot"  comes into play.
Politics are everywhere and in everything you do in life.  We (Elmhurst) should be strong next year on defense b/c all starters return.

Hmmmm.....looking at the e-mail address for sackattack, it wouldn't be the defensive line coach at Elmhurst would it??   :o

For those interested, I've posted the rules for a Playoff Pick-Em' contests over on the CCIW Pick-Em's board.  I apologize for not having a ton of time to invest in setting this up... so I basically borrowed from some of the other Pick-Em boards.

Check it out... umm... if you want too. :-\

Just a reminder in case some of you didn't see this and are interested - I first mentioned this 5-6 pages ago.  Back to the important topics and discussion...  CCIW in the playoffs.

Usee,
I agree with you that the NCC/Capital game will not be a high scoring affair.  While NCC is truly explosive on offense, it sounds like Capital has a very tough defense.  I agree that a 35-40pt. total of the game is probably right.  Should be a very interesting game.
