Usee, great minds think alike!!  I saw your prediction for a score on the OAC board and I am thinking along the same lines.  8)

Hurry and leave work early on a Friday? I bet nobody has ever done that before.

Well we're about 25 hours away from the Game, I wish all teams good luck...

Play hard...
Play safe...
Play smart...

Let's have some great games, with everything being left on the field...

As for Lakeland @ Augustana

I'll see yah down there... I'll be a photographer on the sidelines... Being press has it's advantages...

cardalum- are you going to the game? i am pretty sure i will be there.

One thing I think is interesting also, not much mention of the CAP offense, it's all about the defense.  In my opinion, the best QB in the OAC and two very dangerous WR's with a solid RB I think is the strenght of this team.  Wish I could make the trip from Columbus Saturday, I think it will be an interesting game...  It's just to bad it falls on Michigan vs. Ohio State weekend....   Go Bucks...

Predictions:
NCC - 17
Capital - 24

Ohio State - 31
Michigan - 17

USee,

Wouldn't miss it for the world.  Would be great to meet you.

the only qb, wr, rb group ncc has faced that is better than this group is the one on their own team. looks to me like Jorris is the best qb in the OAC (but i haven't seen them play). kniss, spencer, ernest, studeman, holden will be just fine i think. if cap plays man to man and blitzes their corners better be really good. if it is a zone and their dline gets after it i think thats a better pressure method v the cards. i haven't seen anyone play really physical v the ncc recievers, i am interested in how that might work. (i know millikin played that way v wheaton and if they tried it v ncc then that answers my question).

CardinalAlum, thanks I didn't think they had won a game in the playoffs, but wanted to verify first.  I don't see Lakeland being able to hang with Augie for 3-4 quarters.  Capital is a different story.  This is a strong team from the OAC which I had (in the beginning of the year) the 3rd strongest Conf. in D3. (After CCIW, WIAC)
Somebody mentioned Ohio St./Michigan.  One of my favorite games is approaching in December.  Army/Navy is one of my all time favorites and not just because of the world and the where we are today.  This is one of those heart felt games that I look forward to each year.  One where there are no real losers.

I agree with skeeter.  Despite the talk this year, I still think that Capital's offense is the strength.  Perhaps this is just because I saw them once this year and think back to the pre-Bickel era when the offense was among the league leaders and the defense was consistently ranked near the bottom.

USee,

The way you dicussed stoping the NCC offense is what I saw a lot of at the Augie game. We played in a lot of zones, bringing pressure most of the time with either 4 or 5 guys, and it worked out pretty well for us. They made their plays but we were able to keep them from getting behind us. I agree then that the better tactic against the Cardinals is rush 4 and sit back in a zone. If they have to run more short plays on a drive they are more liekly to make mistakes. That is what Augie capitalized on against NCC, it is the BEST method to stop a potent NCC offense.

CardinalAlum

Vikes,

Don't you think that the weather played a large part in the lack of big plays?  I'm not taking anything away from Augie's D, but I do feel that the weather didn't allow the beloved to throw down the field with the same efficiency.  I don't think you want to sit back in a zone and hope to get to Kniss with 4 rushers.  He will take the short throw if it's there.

Wow, we are less than 24 hours from kickoff.  I hope that there is an enormous crowd for the game.  Weather doesn't look too bad.  Hopefully the sun is shining on the home stands for the Cardinal faithful.

CardinalAlum:
In the Augie NCC game NCC's offense didn't do much in the 1st half of the game before the weather started to get bad. The first 3 or 4 possessions were 3 and outs or not a great scoring threat.  The weather did become a factor in that it kept the game low scoring. It was hard in the 2nd half for both teams to go with their respective powers. NCC had trouble throwing the ball, and Augie had trouble with holding onto the ball from snaps/pitches.  I don't think Cap will want to play man to man on Spencer and the other fine wide receivers. A zone with blitzers imo will be the only way to slow down NCC. Augie was able to put a lot of pressure on Kniss, and that's what Cap will have to do if they want a chance to win. It definatly won't be a 2-3 td win for either team like the other boards are predicting.
