Barnes had never beaten Swider before this year,  but in the previous 5 losses 1 was double digits, 1 by a td, and the other 3 by less than 3 pts. This year he got hist 1st victory and a double digit win. Next year Wheaton has to travel to Augie,  unfortunately it's not the last game of the season anymore.  It's been a great rivarly over the past decade with the winner usually winning the conference.

Good stats Mugsy

Does anyone know the enrollment at each school?
It's REDMEN not RED MEN

RedmenFB44,

I know that Augie is hovering right underneath 2300. I think that we have 2269 or something close to that. Our enrollment might go up in the next few years as they are building a new dorm (oh I am sorry they are called residence halls now aren't they). If you want to look at enrollment for each school there are numbers on the team page section of this website that give the enrollment numbers of each school in D3.

Also looking at the predictions next year I am not so sure that Augie is going to be top dog once you see what they are losing in terms of starters, This is going to be a new look team except for a couple of positions.

Augie starters not returning,
Offense:
Matt Roe QB
Aaron Kuzniar RB
J. J. Mc Dowell RB
Greg Cozzi RB
Mike Zeifert OL
Andrew Quain OL
Blake Frese OL
Tom McIntire TE
Travis Temple TE

That's 9 important guys to this year's success

Defense
Tom Anthony CB
Travis Shea DB
Tom Schualts LB
Clayton McLaughlin LB
Jeremy Hall DL

Also with the list of Seniors it has to mentioned that it is up in the air as to whether Simpsen with be back in the secondary after the knee injury that he suffered against NCC.

That is 14 players (possibliy 15) that Augie will not have that they had this year in that 10-2 season. I am not saying they aren't going to be good, but it is going to be a young team that will not have the experience that the 2005 squad had. As time tells the story I think that we are going to see a wide open 2006 season and there will be 4 teams (Augie, Wheaton, NCC, and Elmhurst) that are going to all have a ligit shot at taking the CCIW, and the only "easy" game on the schedule once again looks like it will be the NPU game on everyone's schedule.

Mr. Ypsi

Mugsy,

I was surprised to see the Illinois % for Augie being THAT high, since they're right on the river.  Are the majority of the rest from eastern Iowa?

Not sure... Augustana website doesn't break it down by state.  They did mention that % was down from 2003.  In 2003 it was 89% from Illinois - truly remarkable compared to other schools.

It appears there are no hermaphrodites at Wheaton (or any of the CCIW schools). ;D

The Iowa population consists of quite a diverse group, they are not just focused in Eastern Iowa. I am sure that many of the Iowa group are Eastern Iowa, but not quite sure how many. The bulk of the kids are from the Chicago suburbs however, and the rest are scattered throughout the state, but many probably figured that.

For the Iowa population, there is another private school in St. Ambrose right across the river in Davenport that also had a graduate program to draw students away from Augustana. Also with U of Iowa only 45 minutes away from the Quad Cities, a lot of students head there.

Well now... that's a different angle than I was intending.   :o I was a Mathematics undergrad, so the "obviously" was in reference to what % is remaining to add upto 100%.

I agree with the scheduling change (Augie/Wheaton  Elm/Car) not being that great.  As arch rivals, I looked forward to playing Carthage at the end of the season.   Lately, as somebody mentioned before, the Augie/Wheaton game has been a great game with the winner getting the rights to continue their season.  I'm curious to see who the Coaches Pick in their Pre-Season Poll   as a #1 for 2006.

Augie's tuition, fees, room and board for the 2005-2006 academic year is actually $29,862. Which would make them the 2nd highest tuition wise behind IWU.

I won't dispute it... I just took the information from the Augustana website, which probably doesn't factor in the fees, in stuff.
