Scott Pethel from the University of Buffalo has accepted the Head Coaching Job at North Park.  He is on campus today accepting the job and talking to the assistants to see if any are going to be retained or not.  Has a D I background but did coach at Adrian College back in the 80's.

That's the scoop for today.

You won't see Elmhurst playing Capital in 2006 for certain.  I know they host Wittenberg in their non-conf game for next season.  I don't know but they're might be two more years of home and home on that contract.  I don't know how the CCIW season schedule works  but it is often hard to schedule the one non-conf game every year since nine OAC schools play their opener week one and one plays its opener in the second week while the other nine take a bye.

Reality Check-- good point.  I was just referring to the strength of a team like Capital.  Elm plays Benedictine (whom I wish they would look for somebody a little stronger), Chicago ( who just renewed the contract with Elm) and a TBD later opponent.  I'm a big believer in scheduling moderate to tougher teams in the non conf. because that is what you see in the CCIW.  Plus, if you beat teams that are at or above your level, it makes the win all that more gratifying.

Gee... thanks CardinalAlum!  :-\  Hard to believe I would have been a freshman 20 years ago.  I don't feel that old, so I guess that is good.

Unfortunately I spent my birthday with the 24 hour flu, so not too memorable.

How about that USC/Texas game last night? That was the best college and maybe the best football game that I have ever seen. Given I havent been around as long as some of you have but wow what a game. Vince Young is the real deal. Not only did he run for almost 200 yards and 3 scores but he passed for almost 300 and was about 70% completion. Just a great game to watch and with all the talent that was in that game. Linhert was also very good throwing for over 300 and very accurate. White was so quick to hit the hole and pounded out yardage and had 3 scores. And of course Bush, this guy is just so quick and fast. Texas did a good job of containing him but just when you think you have him he breaks one just like he did with that TD run. If all four of those guys go to the draft they should all be drafted in the top 4 in order (Bush, Young, Linhert, and White).

Heard that Radtke was added to the Hula Bowl game for January 21st!  Now that's some accomplishment.  Have any other CCIW players ever played in this game?

Mugsy  Happy Birthday with many happy returns to the day.  Age is just a number and it's all about how you feel!   :D
The USC/Texas game was incredible.  Just a great charismatic battle, and Vince Young whew!  What a stud.  I don't think there is anything that man can't do.
The best football game I ever saw was the 46-10 Bears' Super Bowl victory over the Pats.

Jaybird-
I wish that I could have remembered that but I was only 3 years old when the Bears won the super bowl. If I would have remembered Im sure I would agree but the game yesterday was the best that I have ever seen!

Redmenfb44, I am in the same boat.  I was in kindergarten the year the Bears won.  We had an all school assembly the day after.  I wore Jim McMahon's #9  which to this day is my favorite number.  ;D
Thankfully, my parent's taped the game and I was able to watch it when I understood football.

That was one fine game last night, and for once the breaks went against USC, which was kind of surprising if you ask me. I was shocked that pitch wasn't reviewed since Young's knee was obviously down.  But lets face it, that game had a lot of hype and it lived up to its billing.

I have one question and it might spark controversy but hey that is what we are here for, when is the heisman trophy in the mail from Reggie Bush to Vince Young. I mean what Young did last night showed me that he had earned that Heisman, and not just because of last night, but because he did that all year long. Bush did earn the trophy and he was a great player so I mean to take nothing away from him, but after seeing that Young performance last night I get the feeling that Young earned the Heisman even more. I guess even if I think Young should have gotten the award it wasn't wrong choosing either of those 2, plus Young has the Nat'l title, I think he will be content with that.

About the Heisman:

Young had a great game that over shadowed Bush, but that's because it is expected of Bush to perform at that level every game.  Last night Bush touched the ball 24 times and it produced 279 yards or over 11.6  yards per touch. Imagine what he could have done in the game and this year if he didn't get only half the carries for that offense.  Too bad they pick the Heisman before the end of the season, because it would have been interesting to see what the "experts" thought  of the 2 players.
