It's just that it goes against what ND stands for, that's all.  It's not some blah state school - it's a small, well-known, religious university that is closely followed by hundreds of thousands of people.

did I miss something on the all-region. Holden was not on there. Also, when I went back to look through the all region teams. Did anyone else think the MUC coach should of got North Region coach over Capital, considering MUC beat the twice this year and also won the national championship as a underdog.

The Football Gazette (donhansen.com) recently released their All-Region teams.   You can look on North Central's website, and it will list all of the players selected to the All-Region team.  Holden was an honerable-mention pick on the offense.  Hare was third team, Kniss and Smith- 2nd team, and Radtke and Spencer 1st team.

North Region coach of the year- John Thorne

I believe ( not 100% sure) that Elmhurst plays Benedictine at home on September 3, 2006.

CA, a better and longer version of the article is in this past weekend's edition of the Wall Street Journal.  I believe you can search on their web site if you care to read it.

It is a good story about issues faced by schools that have decided to follow a particular path.  The writer did a good job of talking about the issues involved in this move and I thought the departed professor's thoughts were very appropriate.  The ND/Wheaton comparison was a bit off - yes, Notre Dame's provost was a Wheaton grad until recently, but then ND hires a good number of non-Catholics.  Wheaton is smaller and thus can be more focused around its historical mission.  A larger school, Baylor University, has recently gone through a similar but broader struggle around its calling.

This is an issue that every Christian college or university has gone though in the past - and one that will reemerge (under the guise of intolerance) for many years to come.

I know it was mentioned before, but I thought it beared (is that even the right tense? spelling? beared? bore?) mentioning again.....North Central's Lenny Radtke was one of four NCAA III players selected to play in the 2006 Hula Bowl in Hawaii on Jan. 21. Kickoff is at 7 PM EST and the game will be carried live on ESPN. The other players selected are Ohio Northern University defensive back Wes Hostetler, UW-Oshkosh tight end Bob Docherty and Linfield College (Ore.) quarterback Brett Elliott. Information is posted on North Central's website (http://www.noctrl.edu/x7703.xml)

Oh.  Right.  Well, I just think a coach can control what comes out of his mouth.  He is sitting there on national TV and representing his institution to the world - like it or not.  I don't dispute the over-reaching arm of the media these days, but if a school takes the cash provided by these "media outlets" (read ESPN), then one has to live with their interest in the game and anything else related to that game.

Hiker: I'm of the view that there are few situations that couldn't be at least slightly improved by omission of profanity, but how disqualifying do you want the use of a little profanity to be?

I found a Hawaii newspaper website with the rosters for the Hula Bowl.  It looks like Radtke was a late addition. I see there are 2 former DVC players in Brett Bell(Wheaton South) and Owen Daniels (former QB @ Naperville central)  Radtke will also get to play with the QB from Missouri as he is on the west squad with Willingham as his coach.
