I agree with the above statement. So is this guy bringing in an all mac staff or keep the guys that are there now?? That would be impressive to bring in a D1 caliber staff. Now NP just needs some D3 caliber athletes ;D!!

Is Jim Rucks ( the former Coach at Hoffman Estates hs) the brother of Tim Rucks?  I think he was rudely treated by the AD at Hoffman after what he's accomplished at Hoffman.  I understand if you want to fire a guy, but there is a respectful way of doing it.  They treated very poor.  For more info. there is an article in Today's Sports Section of the Daily Herald.  He's the only Coach in the difficult MSL to win 3 straight Conf. titles.

Yes Jim Rucks is the brother of Carthage coach Tim Rucks

RedmenFb44--  Do you think Tim will bring on his brother while Jim looks for another position?  I know recently he hasn't had the numbers/results, but he has done wonders for Hoffman's program.

79jaybird-
I think that it would be a great idea for Tim to bring on his brother Jim. However, Carthage has a lot of coaches. They get about 5-8 student coaches who have completed their playing years but are still attending school. They also have 6-8 part-time assistants. They already have a very full coaching staff as it is. I think that it would be a great possibility.

RedmenFB44--Good point and great info.  I agree that if you get two brothers with great football minds together, that could be a success story.  Ala the Stoops brothers.
I agree you don't want too many Coaches because you run into a problem with the players not knowing who to listen to etc.
I am hoping Jim Rucks finds another IHSA job and hopefully stays in the MSL. I know when I played against him ( this is back when Hoffman was a very strong team in the MSL South with Prospect)  Jim was very nice in shaking our hands and discussing the game.  I think the 4 years we played Hoffman the closest game was 24-7  as the Hawks beat us all 4 years!

Elmhurst is going to play Olivet (MI) from the MIAA as there 3rd non conf. game.  After speaking with one of the Bluejays this evening, I understand Tom Journell and Co. have decided to go to Olivet this Fall ( I believe) in between there opening day game at home vs Benedictine  and week #3 opponent Chicago at home.  I'm happy we are scheduling Olivet who is a sturdy team from a great conf.

I just learned that NCC will be going to Italy over the summer. From my understanding they get 10 days of full pads in the spring and they also get a few more practices in Italy and will play a game. Anyone know if this happens alot and if any other school in the conf is going to do this, this year. I know IWU went to France last year.

Yes Jim Rucks is the brother of Tim Rucks. Before the season started Jim was told he needed to go .500 to keep his job, and unfortunately they didn't do that this year.  He has had 1 winning season in the last 4 and a couple of winless seasons in between. Hopefully he stays on and coaches either a lower level or takes another job because he still has many good coaching years left.  Jim also coaches girls basketball, so I don't know how that will go with moving on to another school.  The article in the Daily Herald was decent, but I think it was an online version that had the title Rucks Sacked which I thought wasn't the greatest of titles.

Wheaton and Augie have been known to do some overseas traveling in the past.  I know this is NCC's first experience thanks to help from some alumni.

Wheaton has taken trips for the last 5-6 years, although not to play football.  They have taken mission/ministry related trips to Romania and Dakar, Senegal Africa.  They have helped out former players who are missionaries by participating in some work projects - laying foundations, building walls, etc...

While this doesn't assist them directly in terms of football skills standpoint, it does help them from team/working together view.  Plus the end result of their effort is very meaningful in the long run - each player gets the experience of using their gifts and abilities towards helping others.

Mugsy, good point.  I know some Elmhurst students have gone to Honduras ( after a devastating Hurricane) and Somalia ( when there was widespread famine).  I would guess there are 2-5 schools in D-3 that take European Trips to play football.  I think it is a great experience.
Both Radtke and Elliot looked great at the Hula Bowl.  That is a compliment to Division III and was great to see.

I saw an article late last year detailing Illinois Weslyan and their football team's trips to Europe. I think it said they have made 3 such trips all to different countries. I heard Carthage may be kicking the idea around. What a great experience for all envolved.
