This is a huge recruiting year for North Central.  They will hopefully be aided by making the playoffs and running a high scoring offense.  Personally, I think they have to run the football more next year to equal or surpass the success they had this year.  It is exciting to see a great talent like Fanthorpe commit to play at NCC.  I hear rumblings of a top notch RB also joining the mix at NCC.  More on that later.

Irish21 good points and like pilots.. Those with the grey hair and aged faces have the experience and give you the best performances.  When was the last time you saw a young guy fly a 747?  Good officials are developed through experience and covering important games over the years.
CardinalAlum-- agreed and to take it one step further, I think it is an important recruiting year for all CCIW teams, most important I might say is IWU and Millikin.  Powerhouses in the early 90's and lately, they have been in the middle- in danger of falling into the lower 3rd.

dansand,

Knowing augiedogie I am also very certain that he was kidding about his comments, I was just making sure to give Pittsburgh their credit for having a very effective defense. I know how dreadful that 2 minute drill was, very much like most of Augie's attempts at it, just trying to give the victors a little credit as well.

There was an article in the Daily Herald today talking about Instant Replay and smaller NCAA football conferences.  What would all of you say to Instant Replay in the CCIW?
IMO, I would say no to replay, however I would like to see the Coaches have 1 ( and only 1)  Coaches Challenge that way if there is a decisive call/play, they can review it to get it right.

D-3 schools are not going to have the money available to install the technology necessary for instant replay.  Let the referees do what they have done for years!

Regarding to Spencer, I continue to say that I would vote for him to return.  Why not, he's a great talent and it's good for the CCIW.
We have a pretty good idea of what is going on with most of the CCIW schools for 2006, but what's the news from IWU and Millikin?  Does Millikin have somebody in line to replace Wallick?  I"m going to miss him, he was a great runner and single handedly beat us 2 straight years.

hello post patterns. I'm new to this and thought I may reply to the last few posts. First off, spencer should not be allowed another year. I cant even belive they are challenging this. He played an entire '02 season, over half of '03 wth IU and then two years with ncc. Sounds like 4 years of eligibilty have been used. Unfortunate thathe was injured, but according to cciw rules, if the injury occurs after the 11th quarter of the season, then a red-shirt may not be awarded. A ruling in ncc would be bad for the cciw and unfair for past players who have lost eligibility because of similar circumstances. Yes, he is extremely talented and may have the oppurtunity to continue his career at another level. To jaybird, wallick is GOING be a sr. and if u forgot elmhurst beat milikin this year and besides one big run in the 4th quarter, he was a non factor in the game. In '04 he played very well against us, but it was shephard and brown who beat ec in '03.
augie, elm, ncc, and wheaton will be the leagues contenders next year

Spencer did not play half a year in '03 at IU, his issue is a bit more complex then the way you are thinking, there are other issues going into the dession other than okay he played 2 years at IU and 2 years at NCC.

What happened to all my karma, man you think you know a board....

Shark56 you are right. There are more factors in the Spencer Saga than are visible on the surface.  My gut feeling is that Spencer WILL get one more year of eligibility.
As far as Karma,  I understand.  One day I was +1 and now I'm -4.  Hehe, oh well.  I wouldn't pay attention to the Karma points as much as what the people have written.
JayAlum-- Allright, another Bluejay!  Besides Bluemom, me, and the Knuppel Bros.  we are few and far between.  Wallick will be a Senior  you are right.  However in his 3 years at Millikin, he has been the one to get the ball on 3rd and short, and situations where the Big Blue needed a clutch run.
"Augie, Elm, NCC, and Wheaton will be the league's contenders next year"  JayAlum.. where do you see Carthage in the mix?  I would put Carthage in there ahead of Wheaton for contenders.

79jaybird, I would not put Carthage in the mix. They lost their entire defense, have a sophomore QB who didnt exactly lite it up, and dont have an established go to guy to run the ball, I think they ended up using 4 different guys to run the ball last year. ;)

Congratulations go to Ward Brady  LB  as he was voted the CCIW's "Most outstanding player"  (Wrestling)  and to the Bluejays for their second straight CCIW title.
Zorba- Yes they used 4 running backs throughout the season.. and against us I think they used 3-4 QB's also.  ( Granted 2 of them may have been during the garbage time at the EOG)
To narrow it down, I think you have to put Augie/EC/NC  ( and not necessarily in this order) as the Top 3 to be in the hunt come season's end.  I wish the season started as soon as the snow melts.  Thank god for Arena Football.   As a hockey player I can't stand seeing football inside a rink, but heck it's football and some hitting.  :D

jaybird-you may be borderline delusional with this one. although i think elmhurst has a chance to make some noise this year with who they have returning, you need look no further than IWU hoops to see what that will get you. the CCIW title will continue to run through Rock Island and Wheaton until someone else wins the title. you have to go back to 1998 to find a year when one of them didn't either own or share the cciw title. In fact, other than carthage in 2004, you have to go back to 1980 to find a current cciw team other than wheaton, augie, millikin or IWU sharing the title. those four are the ONLY cciw teams to win an outright title since 1976.

As good as elmhurst may be and NCC has been, until one of them wins the cciw title you have to consider augie and wheaton the teams to beat.
