Titan Q

I apologize if this has been posted already...here is a link with IWU's football recruits...

Maybe this was already discussed, but I just noticed that for the first time in ages, Wheaton is not ending the season with a game against Augie.  I wonder about the motivation for this change.

Wheaton will end the season with a home game against Wesleyan.

In looking at Q's post above, I wish that Wheaton would do something like this.

Hiker,  this season the "arrangement"  has been changed.  Wheaton isn't playing Augie last weekend of the season, and Elmhurst faces North Park last while facing Carthage 1st weekend of conference.
(I'm not sure on this one) but I think the CCIW changes the arrangements every 2-3 years.

I agree completely.  In the past, the recruits have gotten listed under their respective sports on www.wheaton.edu/athletics when the season preview gets put on the site.  Might be that Wheaton wants to compile a complete list of students instead of maintaining an ongoing list as IWU is doing on their page.

Matt,

Typically Wheaton doesn't post it's recruits until mid-summer when the list is complete (and there is someone around to update the website).

Hiker,

With regards to the schedule, I believe the CCIW schedule is meant to be rotated every 2 years.  Back when I played, every 2 years your last CCIW game in the schedule would move to your first CCIW game.

I suspect the Wheaton/Augie game ending up last for at least 6 years may be in part due to switching to a 10 game schedule.  Going from a 9 game schedule to a 10 game schedule might have put a kink in scheduling.

Looking at Wheaton's future schedule from 2007-2011, the CCIW schedule is back to being shuffled every 2 years - although not in the same manner back in my day.

Here's NCC's recruits from their web site.

Looks like a very solid list of incoming freshmen for the Cardinals.

Looking at NCC, they do have a solid class. 3 standouts are the Sulo Bros. and the kid from Argo. :o

My thoughts on recruiting
A)  I would think each CCIW would garner great recruits and be an attractive package for an incoming College Student, because all 8 schools hold a high bar of success both on and off the field, and in the classroom.  You can't go wrong with any of the 8 schools in the CCIW.
B) I don't get extremely excited about recruits because until they have success in a CCIW uniform, they are just that  recruits with potential.

One question about NCC, do they not recruit in the city?? Other than the Sulo bros. (Mount Carmel), everyone else is from out of the area or suburban. Where are the Hubbards, Morgan Parks and Lane Techs?? I dont think Elmhurst or Carthage  are gettin those kids either. What gives?? ??? Where are the rest of the Catholic league kids goin??

Hey Matblake:

To answer your question from a few pages back, Hoffman is 8A.  All the MSL West schools are 8A while the MSL East schools are 7A.

matblake

Thanks AD.  Are the divisions set up that way or was is pretty much "luck of the draw"?

Mattblake:

I'm not quite certain, but I'm guessing when they switched from MSL North and South to East and West they put the schools with the larger populations into the West and put the other schools in the East.  Maybe some of the other fellow MSL'ers know more about this.  The switch came a couple of years before I started HS.

They are also matched up by District
District #214  Prospect/Hersey/Elk Grove/BG/Wheeling
District #211 Barrington/Palatine/Fremd/Conant
Schaumburg may be the lone exception.. can't recall if they are 211 or 214

Zorba--  While there aren't as many Catholic Leaguers playing they are present on the team's rosters.  Prior to each game, I view the rosters for pronunciation and to see where they are coming from.  I usually see Marist, Joliet Catholic, Notre Dame (Niles), Marian Central Catholic, etc.
I don't think recruiters are "avoiding" the Catholic Leagues.  Sometimes I think it just coincidence.  i.e. Elmhurst 4 starters from Glenbard North.

Schaumburg and Hoffman Estates are both 211.  Rolling Meadows makes up the other 214 school.
