Comet14- the others are right. The best place to get the most up to date info on all D-3 teams is right here. www.d3football.com  and then pick and choose what you want to look at. The other great place to find info. (depending on the quality of the site) is the College's website.  Most (if not all) SID's write a brief wrap up of each game and give you insight on the upcoming season.  You are always welcome to come up and ask us questions in the radio booth.  Before/After and halftimes are usually the best times to come up and talk.

Lets keep Randy Walker and his family in our prayers. He was a good man.

Congrats to NCC (18th and 19th in 2 different polls) for representing the CCIW along with Augie in the preseason top 25 poll. Hopefully there will be 3-4 teams in the top 25 by the end of the season.  With the Cubs as horrible as they are, I can't wait for the season to start. Should be another fine race this year.   When will people start making predictions, or am I jumping the gun here?

Viking Mike

As we all know, the preseason polls are nice, but are simply based on last years accomplishments.  Remember several years ago when Augie was ranked #3 in most preseason polls......they went on to lose 3 games that year and did not even make the playoffs.  I would be surprised if any publication spends much time researching there DIV. III "top 25".  Hopefully these 2 mags are right with Augie checking in at #13 and #15.  We Viking fans were all reminded last year what wins championchips...DEFENSE!  Hopefully this year we see a more aggressive defense with a little PASSING on occasion.  I look for Wheaton, North Central and Carthage to fight with Augie for the title this year...IWU should be much improved...look out for the Titans...Elmhurst and Millikin will be tough and North Park will make good strides...in other words, this should be a great football season!!!  GO AUGUSTANA !!!

Semi-early Conf. predictions for 2006:

NCC--- 6-1    *Loses to Wheaton
AC--- 6-1      *Loses to North Central
EC--- 5-2      * Loses to AC & NCC
WC--- 5-2     * Loses to AC & EC
MU--- 3-4      * Loses to Above
CC--- 2-5       * Loses to Above
IWU--- 1-6    * Loses to Above
NP--- 0-7       * Loses to Above

_____________________________________________________________

NC-- Finally gets that Conf. Championship (yeah I know I'm an Alum and I'm biases)

AC-- Comes close, still get a playoff bid... meets NC in the playoffs  ;D

EC-- The up and comming jays gets the upset against WC... Remind me of the Cards a few years ago

WC-- Although gets the big transfer, stumbles in the beginning of the season

MU-- Goes 7-4 coming very close in all four losses

CC-- Reign of terror slowly fades... for now

IWP-- Will have a great air attack, however will lack in the running game making it hard to pass

NP-- Will come close in a few, 3-7 and improving

**Just predictions, its just for fun. I believe the CCIW is going to have yet another successful season, I only hope in the near future all CCIW teams will schedule big dogs from the OAC and the WIAC so we can show the nation what we can do**

Comet 14

I have heard that Elmhurst is going to scrimmage UW-Whitewater this pre- season. Does any one know when and where?

79jaybird

Comet14,  Elmhurst has been scrimmaging UW Oshkosh the last few years, b/c Journell and the Oshkosh Coach are good friends.  If I hear of a date, I will let you know.  I would be curious (If they play UWW)  why EC switched teams.
Interesting to see NC ranked higher than Augie in the polls, when Augie is the defending Conf. Champs.  The conference is so wide open this year, it is tough to make any predictions.  I think you can group Augie/NC/Elmhurst/Wheaton  in the 4 that will vie for the top spot.  Millikin and Carthage closely behind and then NP/IWU after.  I think North Park is going to surprise a few people this year.  I am hoping they break their long CCIW losing streak soon.

jaybird,
I would agree with you about the top spot with the exception of Elmhurst.  I say that until Elmhurst has a winning record with a win against Wheaton, NCC, or Augie that they cannot be considered as a favorite to compete for the crown.  I would put them in with Millikin and Carthage in the "close behind" category.

shark, interesting that you would pick against the Cardinals in the Little Brass Bell game.  I would think that you would have picked a loss to either Elmhurst or a surprise loss to IWU or NP.  Now that would be interesting!  :)

Does anyone know who the Wheaton Coaches are looking at to step up on the offensive side of the ball?

yeah I'm surprised myself. Last year I thought wheaton was alot closer than the score said. I think NCC got a few breaks (4 pics I believe) If you take away Wheaton's not so good QB and add a d-1 transfer I think this game is gonna be closer than NC/Augie game... everyone gets a loss in the cciw this year, and I'd rather see NC lose to wheaton than Augie in 06

wheaton obviously needs 1 of their 2 qbs to play well early and often. more importantly their receivers are going to have to distinguish themselves against a pretty good slate of cciw dbs. the days of musso are over and someone needs to step into the playmaker role. the likely candidates are the chupp brothers and in my view as the brothers chupp go so goes wheaton this year.
