Let's remember to keep Coach Walker in our thoughts as we go the football games this weekend.  He was a great man and will be missed.

Augie wins 53-7 at MacMurray.

It sounded like a pretty workman-like performance. Their offense took a while to get going, but eventually got it in gear, ending up with 413 total yards. They were able to play on a short field all day. The defense was dominant. The Highlander offense crossed mid-field once all day (on about a 55-yard TD pass against the Viking reserves that was their only score) and only had 62 yards of total offense (-6 rushing) according to the MacMurray broadcast. McGinnis threw the ball a little bit (I'm guessing maybe 8-10 attempts) with mixed results.

Any word on the other CCIW contests. The only score on the D3 board has Millikin trailing Illinois College 14-10 at the half.  ???

Augie gives up only 62 yards of offense and 54 come on the one TD MacMurray had. Not a bad start for the Vikings, although I think everyone knows the road gets tougher once they get into conference.

Final:  Carthage 10, Carroll 6.

Wow, that is a close score!  Carroll must be greatly improved.

Millikin beat Illinois College 24-21

Wallick had 117 yards and Joey Albin threw 2 TDs

and against a semi decent team? i have no idea how any of the people in the pickem picked macmurray... or suggested that it wasn't the easiest game to call.... that one will probably baffle me until the day I die

carroll played carthage really close last year too, at carthage... my wrong pick was based on the fact that they lost a similar number of players and carthage had to play away, and in some places, home team advantage is pretty significant... apparently it didn't matter today in wisconsin though

any wheaton fans go to the wabash scrimmage and can offer a report?

couple of notes from yesterdays cciw action:

augie-no surprise to me

carthage-87 yds of total offense?? vs carroll?? (30 rushes for 32 yds, 7-15 for 55 yds--including 1 pass for 41yds)looks like the carthage D played well but if thats it from the redmen offense its gong to be a long year

millikin-had to score 14 pts in the 4th quarter to come from behind and win. wallick had only 20 touches (note to niebhur--please only give him 20 carries if you want to be 5-5)
