Jaybird would probably be the best person to answer that, but Carthage seems to have built up a rivalry with everyone.

I am a very Crappy poster but I don't want anyone ( Mugsy ) to think I am going after there crown

Ah... yes.  I believe it is official.  I am now the butt of everyone's jokes.   :P

Well, there needs to be a scapegoat on every board.  Just glad I can help.

"Who is Elmhurst biggest rival?"

Comet14--  Carthage is Elmhurst's arch rival.  The only exception might be IWU only for basketball.
As a former player,  we were told that the Elmhurst/Carthage game is like the Chicago Bears/Green Bay Packers game, that you had to win.
On the air, my analyst and I refer to it as the I-94  Battle.
Here are the rivalries that I know of
Wheaton/NC  Little Brass Bell traveling trophy and geography
Millikin/IWU--  Battle of Rt. 51
Elmhurst/Carthage
lately  Augie/Wheaton  for football only.  These two have built up a good grudge battle b/c lately it has been the 2 of them to decide the CCIW title.

Things have overall been pretty tame around here.   The occasional jab at Mugsy(ok, more than occasional) is obviously meant in jest.  Titanbooster used to be able to stir things up pretty good as well as The hill, blueballs.  I'm sure there were others.  MadSwede's posts were quality reading as was Irish21's wisdom(where has he been by the way? Fremd football probably keeping him busy)and analyzing.  Boy, do I sound old! :(

I have a feeling things will heat up nicely once the conference schedule starts.

To this point most are pulling for the CCIW to win as many games as possible.  This is particularly important if we want multiple representatives in the playoffs (which by the way last weekends results did little to help).

Speaking of posters who could stir things up... anyone remember "redbus" and his short-lived time on the CCIW board?

Redbus was missing more than just a few marbles.  Some of his posts were so comical, it was funny.

Interesting that half of the pick em's have Chicago beating Elmhurst.  I think many of these "views" are from the Maroons 55-0 trouncing of CUC.  While Schey was impressive with (I think) 4 TD's last week,  I feel Elmhurst's defense is a far contrast from that of CUC's.  I think this is going to be a close battle, with Elmhurst's Defensive Line coming up big in the 4th qrtr.
One thing I know for sure-- Somebody's defense is going to give up a point for the first time all year.  EC 34-0  C  55-0  in week one.

Now one was better than TitanBooster in getting the posters riled up.  I guess as Wesleyan football has waned in quality, TB's interest has waned as well.  But he is welcome back anytime!

Interesting Jaybird that Elmhurst considers IWU to be the big basketball rival because I don't really think the honor is given such importance from our perspective, though I'm speaking as a fan as I played football not basketball.  As a fan, it would seem Wheaton is a much bigger game to us than Elmhurst in basketball, though I wouldn't say the IWU-Wheaton is a "heated" rivalry in the sense of dislike of each other.  It has become a great competitive rivalry with respect for each other though.  The quality of the games between IWU and Wheaton over the last 12-15 years or so has been amazing.  A couple of the best basketball games I've ever seen, and if anyone was at the Jan. '04 game at the Shirk with the CCIW title on the line, they know what I'm talking about.
Hail, Hail, the gang's all here, all out for Wesleyan!

Alum,

I'm with you on lamenting the absence of old and memorable posters from the days of yore.
