Tailgater-

Your posts are great and I would give you positive karma if I could. I think that some people just have grudges with some schools or teams and they feel the need to give that fan negitive karma. If possible I think that Pat should let you know who give or takes your karma points. This way you can thank that person or find out what aboutg your post someone didn't like. I think that Pat would say that by doing this it would take away from football posting info. on the board but I would hope that if someone had a problem with your post, you would write them a personal message instead of using the board. Just a thought  ;D

Very true. I value being able to hear your updates.  I am not in tune with the program as used to be and like to hear what is going on.  Keep posting and forget Karma.  Also, A little bit thicker skin wouldn't hurt.

Also, remember karma does not accurately reflect how the board as a whole sees you.  And after a while, you get used to not looking at it at all.  + karma for you nonetheless.

Tailgater, as has been mentioned ad nauseum on here, karma has become pretty pointless on the CCIW board.  Regular posters know who adds value to this board and who doesn't.  If the karma crashers get kicks out of knocking people's karma down, then that's their issue since they obviously don't have much going for themselves so they take joy in bringing others down.  Someone or some small group on the CCIW football board abviously doesn't like certain schools, so they just knock karma regardless of how valid your points are.  Before I started posting on the football board this season, I was at +5.  I went to negative for stating I went to IWU (obviously a very controversial statement).  One of the great things about this board is MOST posters appreciate and respect the other teams and rivalries in our conference.  We still pull for our own teams, but we aren't out to steal the other teams mascot before the big game.  Obviously, there's one or two folks who have not gotten past trivial pranks yet.  Don't let it bug you.  Like your mother used to say, if you ignore it, they'll leave you alone right?
Hail, Hail, the gang's all here, all out for Wesleyan!

A little "Poetic" justice you might say as the Red Men sent Whittier back to the land of fruits and nuts with a 2 point consolation prize!

Tailgater,

I went back and read some of your posts and the above statement may have rubbed some people the wrong way seeing as you insulted the state of California!  You also have complained of karma hits before.   Past history has shown that complaining about karma hits usually only gets you whacked harder.  Your contributions have been solid.  I wouldn't worry about the karma.

From the IWU fans,  what was Olivet like?  What were some of their strengths and weaknesses that you guys saw in your game?
Short week for the Jays.  Friday morning they leave for South Bend, IN  to tour the College FB HOF.  Then they will shoot up north to their hotels for Saturdays game.  Should be a fun trip.  The Wolverine state hasn't been the kindess of states for EC, so hopefully they can pull out the W and start rewriting the history.

Congrats to Millikin on never quiting.  This is 3 games in a row when a 4th quarter spirit showed.  Wabash was up by 3 TDs going into the 4th and won by 1.  The Big Blue have to be one of the better 1-2 teams in Div III.  All they need do is pretend the 3rd Q is the 4th and winning will be there.  Have a great balance of the season.

Whats up Everyone!! Haven't been on to read in quite a while, I did get a chance to catch the Bend/Elmhurst game a few weeks back. But yet to see my cards in action...

Anyways, I was checking out the Top 25 and noticed Linfield at #18 with an 0-2 record. Now I do understand that they played up in division, however the team they played was comming off a 5-6 season (not saying thats bad however its not like there playing a top notch team) and a good Hardin-Simmons team where it looks like they were handled.

I just feel that an 0-2 team should be in the top 25. 0-2 is still 0-2, at least they should be below #20.

Does anyone agree with this or do I have it all wrong?

Tailgater-
I used to post on this board a lot more the past couple of years and I can tell you that this is the nicest this board has been in a long time.  It seems that this post has changed in the fact that posters actually care about what happened in games.  Posters actually care about the CCIW as a whole.  A couple of years ago all you read on this post was message after message of trash talking.  It was rather ridiculous.  So don't get upset about having bad karma.  I, for one, don't even know how the whole karma thing works.  Just post your info and don't get your feelings hurt.  Who cares if posters with nothing else to do reduce your karma!  I am sure there are more important things in life to get upset about than having bad D3Football board karma.  Just my thoughts....

On another note...
Is Wheaton that good or is Wash U. that bad???  Back when I played Wash U. typically fielded a pretty darn good football year after year.  What's the deal???

Wheaton is that good and Wash U is not what they used to be.

Washington U. is a decent team - not as good as they were back in 1999-2000.  IMO, the size and speed advantage for Wheaton was significant and obvious.  WashU just couldn't match up with Wheaton.

At this point, Wheaton looks much, much better defensively than they have been in several years.  That said it is still very, very early and the first few weeks of the CCIW schedule will answer a lot of questions to just how good the Wheaton squad is in 2006 (at Millikin, NCC and at Augie in successive weeks).

...  So don't get upset about having bad karma.  I, for one, don't even know how the whole karma thing works.

On the tooic of karma: I recently received one of those humorous e-mails that get passed around to everyone and their brother.  This one is perhaps germane to the topic.

"The Washington Post's Mensa Invitational once again asked readers to  take any word from the dictionary, alter it by adding, subtracting, or  changing one letter, and supply a new definition."

One of the submissions was: "Karmageddon: It's like, when everybody is sending off all these really bad vibes, right? And then, like, the Earth explodes and it's like, a serious bummer."

That's, like, how this karma bag must work, man, sorta like another entry, "Hipatitis: Terminal coolness," which is the polar opposite of  "Glibido: All talk and no action."

I thought this was hilarious at the time (in a crude sorta way), and I still think it's hilarious... and I live in Cali.  :)

Tailgater, I know this sounds weird, since I have like 160 karma right now, but actually see my karma getting dinged all the time... I was basically absent from post patterns all last week, and when I signed onto the board toward the end of the week to do my pickems, I had gone from 164 karma to 158 without posting! Yeah, people can be petty, random, and stupid... I just try not to let it bother me. On the plus side, having negative karma because of a posting board isn't nearly so bad as having multiple stalkers...  :D ::) :-\

I wouldn't worry about the karma... and please stick around. This board just wouldn't be worth anything if it didn't have multiple posters from each school.

I don't know, hard to tell from 2000 miles away, but I know one thing for sure... Westminster (Mo.)... whom Wash U beat 61-0 the week before they played us, really, REALLY sucks!!!

I'm totally loving Hardy's offense! It's just so diverse... and he really doesn't call plays in a predictable manner at all... I've felt that way even just listening to the radio guys and watching the tiny grainy tv internet feed. I bet it's really stressful to prepare for. I wouldn't be surprised at all if it had a lot to do with teams struggling to contain them. That and the fact that our defense is awesome this year... cause defense is the most important part of the game (smiles at Mugsy :) )

Incidentally along the lines of dishing out negative, what's up with giving Jeremy Amos (or someone so obsessed with Amos that he picked a email address that has his name in it :D) negative karma?!  >:(

K+ for you nogloves.
