Redmen04-

Your gonna be at the homecoming game right? I know that Tailgater will have some refreshments and Im hoping you will be around for that as well. Then we can enjoy the game in style  :D

I am not sure if I will be at the homecoming game but will be at the game next Saturday against Elmhurst.  I am sure that I will be partaking is some adult beverages on the hill and wearing Norm's hat!

Reidy I will see if I can get a picture or two for ya!
HEY NORM, I LOST YOUR HAT! GO REDMEN!!!

I hate to agree with a Titan, but I have to agree.  They played Coe and MSJ tough, both playoff caliber teams within their respective conferences.  They also beat Olivet whom they were "supposed" to beat.  Games against Augustana and Carthage right off the bat should point the direction the IWU team is heading.  I can't help but have the "snake in the grass" feeling though, especially because of their upset against Wheaton last year.

I think that game was the most shocking upset since Carthage beat Augie in 1996

Agree with a Titan?  What's next?   Forming a dance at Wheaton College?  ;D  I'd like to rule the MSJ game as a heartbreaker.  When a team scores 21 points in less than 2 and a half minutes on you, it's going to pull the heart out of your team and be very tough to get back into the game.  I do agree that games against Augie and Carthage will show where the team stacks up in the CCIW.  I'd love to say IWU will surprise people and run the table on the CCIW, but, more realistically, I believe they will be very competitive.

Actually you can dance at Wheaton now.  It is the fulfillment of yet another sign of the end times.  Earthquakes, famine, pestilence, dogs and cats sleeping together, dancing at Wheaton College...  ;D

You can??  When my friends went there, I know there was a rule where if a girl was in your room, the door had to be open and all four feet had to be on the floor.  Also, they couldn't dance.  Changes like that make me feel like i'm gettin' old.

Good luck to the CCIW teams that aren't idle this weekend!  I'm hoping to go to the Wash U - NCC night game to see how NCC fares.

Many of the same rules still exist, although not being allowed to dance while attending Wheaton was recently removed either last year or the year before.

ypsi, I look at the game last year vs iwu as an anomily (sp) ....

I fear you're right that it was an anomaly - in the pickems I will probably never pick IWU to win except against NPU.

Maybe the CCIW is actually giving Wheaton a bonus - last game each season will be their revenge game! ;D

Mr Ypsi - No longer a homer for IWU??  ???  That hurts.  After watching them play Coe, I still think they will upset a few teams this year.  By no means am i saying they will win conference but I believe there will be an improvement from the last few years of play.  Brandon Cotter is a smart and capable pocket quarterback and Marcus Dunlop is a great runner once he heads north and south.  Assuming that coach every one loves to hate can get a spark into his offense, they should be very competitive once CCIW play begins!

I agree with everything you said, but what specific team would you PREDICT that they will beat (other than NPU)?  I might take a flyer on them vs. Millikin, and (depending on the result against common opponent Olivet) maybe Elmhurst, but otherwise (while IWU certainly COULD pull another game like Wheaton) I think any wins would be upsets.

Pat,

Did they allow a sack that caused a turnover or a hurried QB throw for interception that would have resulted in a score.?  And did they walk on water...... ;D
thank you for your work here and I only meant to find out criteria and you have answered quite clearly.
I will stop "rattling your cage" at least for now  ;)

It was either Fall 2003 or Spring 2004. I actually went to "the first dance" before I graduated.... and there were like three network stations there with news cameras tring to get shots through the security that wouldn't let them into the gym. They were also on campus all day interviewing students and taking shots of campus for the b roll. I'm still not really sure the rule was a good idea, but oh well, that's not really a discussion for a d3 football board.

Here's the AP article that was in pracically every single newspaper across the country.

I've never heard of the four feet on the floor rule, and I probably violated it if there was one... though I do know that you were supposed to have your door at least halfway open.

My favorite restriction is that according to the old pledge (and probably the community covenant too) gossiping was not allowed. I would have totally loved it if the admin had expelled some girls for that!  :D ;D 8)

What were you doing with yoru feet off the floor April??  :D

Mr Ypsi-

Ok, I can see your point.  If i were a betting man, I'd pick IWU over Elmhurst, NCC, Carthage and NPU.  But I'm not so I guess we'll just see how things turn out.  I'm also assuming that the offense will "show up" and have a decent game.

And I would say that it is not the year 2000 anymore.   ;D Given recent history, Carthage and NCC certainly have to be considered favorites over IWU.  That being the case, you are still free to bet on whom you choose.  8)

RE:  4 feet on the floor and having the door slightly open
Now what could possibly happen in a college dorm room  ??? :P
Gosh, I chuckle every time I look back at some of the (activities  ;)  ) that went on in our dorm room and in the hallway.  My favorite, was playing whiffle ball in the hallway  or mini-soccer in the hallway.  One time, somebody got ahold of a good whiffle hit, and broke the glass which sparked the fire alarm... ah memories!
I talked with Tom Journell today and he knows that Olivet is going to be a good challenge.  I think we are both confident that if Elmhurst plays to their capabilities, the Jays should be o.k.  But it is football, and indeed it is a long road trip for Elmhurst.  I think the comeback and heart shown by EC during the 2nd half of the Chicago game, gives Elmhurst the mojo to go and win this game.
IWU is one of those teams that when taken lightly will come back and nip you in the (well you know where).
Marcus Dunlap is a great running back and they have some talent in most of the other skilled positions.  I agree IWU upsets somebody this year, however I think the upset will occur in Bloomington and not on the road.

I grew up in a "Regular Baptist" church setting where my few options at college were either Pensicola Bible or Bob Jones U, and if I felt real rebellious I could choose Cedarville.  :P  So all this no dance rules mockery and the like really don't register with me because in my world that was accepted.  Wheaton was considered very liberal and almost as bad as Calvin, which allowed cigarette smoking. :o

Now Wheaton is hip, they have swing dances and a pc name.  What will North Park fans have to make fun of now.   ;D

My favorite dorm hallway game required 2 teams of 2 players.  The hallways in the dorm were straight and had rooms on one side only.  Team 1 had one player on each end of the hallway.  Team two would send players into rooms.  The object was to see how many throws of a frisbee could be made between Team 1.  The player throwing the frisbee would yell "Throwing" when making the toss.  Players from team 2 would leap out of the room and try and block the frisbee.  Players inside the room had one attempt to block the frisbee.  The throwing team was not allowed any fakes.  The team in the rooms could not look into the hall.  If team 2 blocked a throw they became the throwing team.
