What is up with this "4 feet on the floor" rule? Does that really stop anything? HAHA

I know April, typical guy  :P
It's REDMEN not RED MEN

RedmenFB44-

I was thinking the same thing but April said she's never heard of the 4 feet on the floor rule.  I swear that was the case when i visited a few friends there in 2001.  Yet, I never even SAW a girl in the dorms let alone had to witness the 4 on the floor rule.

We played a lot of baseball in the dorms with a miniature bat and a tennis ball.  Broke alot of lights that way and blamed some of it on the floor above us.  Sorry fightintitan!!

Just admit some girl pulled that excuse on you as a reason to get you to keep your hands off of her.  :P

And what's up with a Wheaton person being friends with an IWU person.  >:( ::) :D ;)

What were you doing with yoru feet off the floor April??  :D
Uhm, there were about ten girls in my class at Wheaton that all the guys liked. I was not one of those girls. I was probably even one of the girl that those girls made fun of. And since I was one of those rare girls who went to college to learn things so that I could make a difference in the world, and not one of the MANY Wheaton girls who went there just to find a husband, I didn't exactly wait around in my room for guys to show up. ::)

However, we did used to turn on some good latin music and have dance parties in my suite (for girls only) during open floors my freshman year just to annoy the guys who could hear the music and couldn't come in. :D

Geeze... If you want to be a typical guy, you have to do it on the Liberty League PU board. I'd like to keep this board a little more family friendly. :-\

Hey about the Karma thing, being a non-budhist but lover of my name is earl the more negative karma i get here in the virtual world the more positive karma I will get later in the real world.  So come on pat hit me with best shot (not benatar)  :P
plus I'm a big fan of grace because there's no way I can make up for all the bad "karma" that I deemed on the board or in life.

I do remember visiting a friend who was a girl in her dorm room and doors had to be open and there was some memory of it being frowned on to not be in room in a one on one situation.  Also I do remember being off the floor and it not being a big deal. I think you must have been told a line  ;D

April,
i think the picture of Phoebe Cates on the first page of this board sets the theme for it being a not so family friendly place ;D

My, how times have changed if even Wheaton doesn't have a "four-feet-on-the-floor" rule.  At IWU (seemingly the most secular and 'liberal' of the CCIW schools) in the late 60s we had that rule (though I recall it as 3 feet on the floor), plus the open door, plus extremely restrictive hours for opposite sex visits (if I recall correctly, it was about 2 hours a day, and then only women in men's dorms - I don't think there was ANY allowance for men in women's rooms).

Not that we bothered to adhere to the rules! ;D

For a second I was completely lost and thought I was redirected to some inverse website in an different/parallel universe.  How'd it go from a question about dancing at Wheaton to all kinds of "innuendo"?

Man, do we need the CCIW schedule to kick off and keep our focus!!!! :-[

Thanks Joe Bear.   Oh bye the way that 4 feet on the floor rule is easy to get by according to you and Fonger and your radio show about Johnny and I if you have a sheep.
We will always be REDMEN

I dont believe you.  I recall one of my neighbors overhearing a conversation and finding out who the real culprits were and it wasn't you.  Nice try though. ::)

As for this week, I think the bye worked out to be in the perfect spot this year for two reasons:

1. Like you said, the MSJ loss was probably very tough to take and hopefully having the bye will give them a chance to regain their composure so they're ready mentally

2. Opening the conference slate at Augie followed by Carthage will not be easy and the bye week should give them a chance to heal any minor injuries and put them back at full strength for a couple very physical games coming up.

Come on April, just having a little fun no need to karma kill. We are men and we have a different mindset. It's the way we were made so don't blame us  :D

Matt, we played that game, but with billiard balls.  The lounge doors were never the same after that series...

Your -1 actually isn't my fault. Maybe there's a couple guys here who agree that it was classless.  :P

ah dorm fun/memories.... now about this weekend's games.

The weather forecast doesn't look very pretty for the Michigan games.  I wouldn't doubt that the Wheaton/Hope Elmhurst/Olivet games are going to have some rain (perhaps heavy) in the area during the course of the game.
If it starts raining I have to believe that if it were to "benefit" one team, it would favor Hope and Olivet.  I know in games that I played, when it started raining and we were on the road, it was a challenge to come out of that game with a W.
Don't get me wrong, I think Wheaton and Elmhurst pull out "W's" Saturday.
I am making the trip over to Olivet, leaving the NW suburbs of ChiTown at noon.  As a reminder, you can hear the game on 88.7FM (local) and/or www.wrse.com  if you aren't going to be attending the game.
Good luck to all the CCIW teams in action this weekend and hope nobody gets hurt as we will being the "real deal" next weekend.

Quote from: bgbully40 on September 21, 2006, 04:19:15 PMNow Wheaton is hip, they have swing dances and a pc name.  What will North Park fans have to make fun of now.   ;D

Unfortunately, Bully is right. The Carlson Crazies at NPU are now like kids whose parents took away their best toy on Christmas morning. Ever since Wheaton's administration eliminated the reason behind the age-old tradition of Parkers chanting, "Let's go dancing!" and singing the first verse of Men Without Hats' "Safety Dance" whenever NPU played Wheaton, the Crazies have been stuck with the generic material that they direct at every other opposing team.

I occasionally wonder if students from other CCIW schools directed similar taunts at North Park students prior to the decision in 1970 to allow dancing on the North Park campus, and if those other CCIWers were left feeling as cheated out of their fun as Parkers now are. Any thoughts, Chuck?

Funny thing is, I sometimes think that April is harder on the Wheaties than I or my fellow Parkers will ever be. To wit:

Hey, I like all of the Wheaton alumnae that I know -- and I know quite a few. Yeah, I didn't have to live with them and April did, but it still delights me to no end that I have a higher opinion of them than she does.  :D
