The weather forecast isn't great for Saturday's game up in Kenosha.  Off and on rain showers.  Hopefully those are gone by gametime.
Redmen-- I think FatalImpact is just going on a hunch and/or perhaps he flipped a coin and made up his mind that way.  I think you're wasting your time trying to figure out a "reason" behind his thinking.
If you look back, Carthage has steadily been improving for the past few years. Similar to North Central.  When I played at Elmhurst,  EC/Car/NC  were not very good and in the bottom 1/3 of the conference.  Now these three are starting to work their way up the rungs of the ladder.  I think this weekend's game is going to be similar to the EC/NC, Car/NC  games.  These 3 teams are so equal on paper, that I don't think there is a favorite.  IMO, right now Wheaton looks to be a little better than these 3 teams, but who knows??  Any given Saturday.

Somebody mentioned this a few pages back and I was thinking along the same lines.  As we all know, the CCIW this year is not as strong as it has been recently. If we beat each other up in conference play,  I wonder if we may NOT get that 2nd bid into the NCAA Tournament.  I think this is a luxury we have come to expect (getting that 2nd team in), but this year I wonder.  ???

Its weird no-one else's comments go un questioned....Do I need a reason.....I get to come on here and talk football, but because I think one thing it must be a hunch or it must be this or that....79 u dont sound to supportive of your Elmhurst team and I am......Why is that.......Not too confident, aren't you really really close to the team?....Well they will win........And if not oh well....but I am CONFIDENT......And y'all nevermind how many periods I use its a post not an essay

no one responds because 1-you are not "talking football" you are talking trash and 2-you can't make complete sentences.

FatalImpact--  Those who know me, know that I am the biggest pro-Elmhurst poster on this board. hehe,  heck I was the mascot Victor E. Bluejay for 3 years at Elmhurst wearing a crazy 7 foot tall bird soot during bball season!  I bleed blue.  :)
I am confident in my team (Elmhurst) at the same time I know that for 7 weeks, if you don't bring your A game, you are going to get beat.  I think if Elmhurst plays the way they did in the 2nd half vs. Chicago and the way they did (for most of the game) vs. Olivet,  the Bluejays have a great chance vs. Carthage.
I am not overly confident and I would hope EC isn't, because that is when you get beat.  I think Elmhurst is upset that Carthage beat us on our home turf last year, and has some added incentive to try and knock them off this year.  That, and we both know Carthage is Elmhurst's arch rival.

This post made me laugh, anyone else? The reason I questioned you was because you seem so CONFIDENT. Most of us on this board will say we THINK our team will win for these reasons 1,2,3. Not just saying "I know that Elmhurst is going to win". So I will ask why do you think they will win? Then you attack 79jaybird who is a veteran on this board and he is very faithful to Elmhurst. He knows more than you will ever know about Elmhurst and football in general. By the way who was your english teacher? She/he should be fired. You are wasting your time with all of your ... just put 1 period after a thought and tada, you have a sentence. Hey I should be a teacher  :D

Anywho, I am really looking forward to the first week of CCIW football.

I know NC is the heavy favorite (and I pick them also), but does anybody feel that NPU has a good--fair shot in this one?  All the other games seem to me, like they have the makings of a 4th quarter marathon!

as a side note we should all be encouraged by the increased activity (and civility) on this board. we have just passed the NCAC for second place in the north region in post patterns frequency. :D

I was just thinking the exact same thing.

Nice to have a good overall representation of posters too.  That said it has been considerably more quiet from the Augie contingent compared to years past, even before the current struggles (some from DanSand, sporatic from vike35).  Strong representation from Carthage, Wheaton, North Central and Elmhurst.  A decent amount of information coming from North Park and IWU faithful, but could use more.  Pretty quiet on the Millikin front...

Mugsy,

Haven't been around the team nearly as much. Garduated in May and have been in the Chicagoland area since, so I don't have the info that came to me last year through players, friends, others.  I would have to say that it is early to put McGinnis on the bench. Roe had his struggles early in 2004 and we all saw what happened as that season progressed before the TEAM collapsed the last 2 games. If I had more info I would be glad to share, but as dansand said earlier in the week, not being at a game yet makes it very hard to give reasons as to why Augie is struggling other than having stats say the O-line isn't doing the normal Augustana job.

Any news out of the Augie camp on this week's game?  I've been hearing rumors that McGinnis may not be starting this weekend.  Could be a big weekend in Rock Island with a 2nd string QB and a weak OLine.  You hear anything dansand?

GO TITANS!!!

No I haven't, but I'm far from an insider when it comes to the Viking football program. I have have a little better connections when it comes to the hoops team.

That's just what the birds tell me as they fly by my office window.  Vikes35, any input?  Is McGinnis hurt or am i making things up?  I believe it's going to be a VERY close game and can't wait to hear the outcome.

GO TITANS!!!!!!!

Like I said in the previous post I think McGinnis is the guy. Barnes can't destroy his confidence because the O-line hasn't played its best. CCIW action will show what Augie is made of, and IWU should be a test.

Redmen96

I know the Carthage locker rooms were bad when I was there but in 1994 we played at Elmhurst and they didn't even give us a locker room that day.  They stuck us in some side room off the Gym and all it had was benches no lockers just benches we had to leave everything on the floor.  There were no showers either there was a black garden hose run in through the side door that was hooked up to hot water only.  We lined up in rows of 10 guys at a time and one of the assistant coaches would walk up and down the line spraying us with the hose.  Once to get you wet then you had to scrub while he was spraying the others and when he came back for the second pass you had better be done because that was all the water you got so the next group of 10 could wash.    I swear to GOD this is a true story.
We will always be REDMEN
