So... Did someone flash a HUGE, bright light and then 4-5 seconds later you make a grand appearance?  I've often wondered about that.  What would a Thunder mascot be?

OK, here's a football topic to chew about.

Who would you nominate as the pre-CCIW post non-conf.

Offensive Player of the Year
Defensive Player of the Year
Special Teams Player of the Year
and Coach of the Year?

Just looking at non-conference games and prior to the CCIW starting.

Defense POY:  Andy Studebacker (yes... I know I blather on and on about his ability, but the dude is a beast!)  7 sacks and 6 1/2 tackles for loss in about 2 games due to sitting in the 3rd & 4th quarters of 2 games.  He lives in the backfield.

Offensive POY:  Looking solely at the stats, because I have no other reference (other than seeing Chaz Black), no running back has yet to distinguish themselves from anyone else in the CCIW.  Same could be said for receivers.  Obviously some good ones out there, just nothing that stands out.  I guess I'd give it to Kniss based on total offense, although one loss hurts (not that it was his fault, but often POY comes from CCIW champion).

For coach & special teams, I really have insufficient data at this point.

I about fell out of my chair laughing at that series of posts.  It could be one of the all time funniest jokes ever.

Fatal- No offense to you, but if you're going to write in that streaming sort of way and have no real evidence to back anything up, you're going to get made fun of ALOT.  SO if you could make sentences as FB44 said, that would be great.

All in all, first weekend of CCIW play should tell us more about evyone in conference.  NCC sort of gets a bye with NPU but the other games should be a test.  Can't wait to see how the race shapes up!

Offensine player- Kniss, Defensive I can't really give it to one person, special teams I would have to give it to Elmhurst ( I know that's not a person but special teams is just that teams), Coach at this point with  not many common opponents I say anybody but Augies coach.

I also think that if the second place team in the conference finishes with 2 losses they can definately get an at large bid.

I am curiouse, I am new to this board this year. How many if any at large teams in the last couple of years had 2 or more losses?

They can... but it is by no means DEFINITIVE.  

With 2 losses, it comes down to votes by a panel of coaches.  My senior year there were 8 teams in the North Region alone with 2 losses and only 1 playoff position available.  Granted there are more playoff positions now, but with the perceived slip of the level of play in the CCIW this year... you'd better have 1 or less loses if you have high expectations of making the playoffs.

Have you ever seen at home football games, where the swim team guys pull out the metal sheets and shake them? I think of those metal sheets as out mascot a little bit. Too bad noise makers are banned as per NCAA sportsmanship rules. (And no, I do not wear metal sheets!!!! )

Alright, we are not moving from the random Carthage guys trying to "watch movies" with me to talking about me being naked. I refuse to participate. I'm pretty sure I've never worn anything to football games aside from an orange shirt and jeans, or a football practice shirt and jeans. And some form of shoe, and possibly a jacket. Is my joke sufficiently killed now???

I can't make fun of Fatal Impact because my posts are fairly stream of consciousness, except for the occasional post when I'm bored and start to look up random stats. You can't post as much as I do and be really deliberate about it. And I definitely want to use periods all the time. There was a time where I seriously had to go back and make my fragments seperated by periods into sentences because it just looked so ridiculous all the time.

And now I'm going to resist the urge to go on a stat researching rampage and look up Comet14's question.

Any evidence anyone puts forth should be taken with a grain of salt though... the fact is, with the expanded field, the criteria is now a little easier. Only last year's data is really relevant (unless you want to speculate about how much more true it would have been), and then there's the problem that one year doesn't tell you much statistically.
