Two teams got Pool C bids with two losses last year.
I was going to say that I was 100% sure pat would eventually tell us, because it seems like one of those questions he'd keep in his head... but he did it a little faster than I was expecting.

Want to do a year by year rundown for us Pat? :D

The other years aren't really relevant. Last year had more than twice as many Pool C bids as the year before thanks to the expanded bracket.

I think I already said that... Like 2 minutes ago. :P

On the other hand, if someone did get a pool c with two losses, it would bode fairly well for a 2 loss team now that the playoff bracket is expanded, no?

Any evidence anyone puts forth should be taken with a grain of salt though... the fact is, with the expanded field, the criteria is now a little easier. Only last year's data is really relevant (unless you want to speculate about how much more true it would have been), and then there's the problem that one year doesn't tell you much statistically.

Wouldn't morse code would look more like this?

._ _ _ .... . ... _ .. _ _ .... _ .. _ ..

Usee-- I guess we disagree, which is ok  that's what the board is for.  ;D
From what I have seen/called from the booth, all 3 teams have been relatively equal the last few years.  The only team that has stood out in recent years as being "advanced' (for lack of a better word)  has been Wheaton.
I agree with you that the table is set for these 3 to jump ahead.

Jaybird,

I don't view it as much of a disagreement as you not wanting to admit/recognize a fact. the fact is the carthage has been conference champ and both carthage and naperville have been to the playoffs. elmhurst has done nothing so they are distinguishable based on the level of achievment.

I know NC is the heavy favorite (and I pick them also), but does anybody feel that NPU has a good--fair shot in this one?  All the other games seem to me, like they have the makings of a 4th quarter marathon!

I give no np absolutely no hope of winning. i would say they have less than a 5% chance of even being competitive. I hope i have to come back here and eat my words because nothing would please a wheaton fan more than north park ending its cciw drought vs naperville.

Pat is the playoff guru but I would guess if there is a selection among 2 loss teams the nod would go to OAC, WIAC before CCIW would be considered among other conferences. either way the poor non conference performance will not help us unless UWP, BW, wabash, conc wisc, etc run the table in their conferences. (that is likely w wabash and conc wisc but no chance with the others)

Sheesh, what the heck did you guys do to the board last night?

Pat or April,

PLEASE delete post #5403.  I think it is causing this board to have a crazy format due to excessively long, continuous stream of periods with no carridge return.

PC load letter?  What the ____ does that mean?   :D ;)

It took me a half hour to realize what Aprils excessive periods did to the format.  I think i had a seizure in the process because I couldnt' see what was written and was getting frustrated.  That being said, I agree that Elmhurst still has something to prove because they haven't won a CCIW championship lately or been into the playoffs.  I will agree that Journell has made the program VERY competitive, but they have not proven anything to this point as being a championship team.  In addition, i will say that Carthage must have some very good seasons in the near future to prove that 2004 was not a fluke team that comes around once in a lifetime.

Also, I will say that Millikin and IWU need to start playing some football and turn their teams around to stop the downhill ride that both have been on for awhile.  I'm hoping this will be the most competitive season in the CCIW yet, but that also brings up the question of will teams stay healthy?  If the parity of the league is so high and each game is a "must win,"  it is vitally important to keep your starters healthy for a chance at winning the CCIW and going to the playoffs.  I believe whichever team keeps their people healthy will stand near the top at the end of the season.  As a caveat, i say Elmhurst still has a good chance even though Kudyba went down because
their backup has has a chance to adjust to game situations with 2 non conference games.  Any thoughts?
