RedmenFB44-- Thank you for your compliments.  I don't usually fly solo and pray that my color analyst returns for the Augie game next week.  I am glad that you were able to get the game online.  I was excited-stressed-roller coaster of emotions which made the game very exciting.
Carthage has a very good team and I expect them to win the majority of their remaining games.

One other thing about the Carthage/Elmhurst game.
What a great atmosphere for a football game. The weather was cool and crisp, there was a brief shower but overall a great temp for a night game.
Both team's stands were packed which was great. I love to see both sides have a packed house.  I still find it rather unconventional to have the Visitor's Stands right below Art Keller Field's Pressbox.
Speaking of pressboxes, the new renovations at AK Field are beautiful! Very spacious, lots of room ( I think I could have fit 5-10 guys in there if I wanted to), and no more fears of the boards breaking.  Very, very nice!
I also liked the fireworks at halftime,  yeah!  Pyro!  8)
Also nice to see the youth football teams in attendance on the north end of the field.  Overall, a pleasant atmosphere and enjoyed the night up there.

Put a big circle around the TURNOVERS!

CARTHAGE 4 (all in the 2nd half and all were turnovers that either stalled a great drive, or put Elmhurst in great position to score)
ELMHURST 1 (and their turnover didn't really come back to haunt them)

augie wins 24-7

IWU w 125 yds of offense
augie w 387 (61 in air)

IWU threw 3 picks, augie did not turn it over

augie sacks iwu 4x

augie had ball for 38 min to 21 for iwu

Ugh, upsetting to say the least.  Do you know how IWU's yardage was spread?  I'm curious.  ANd if you were at the game, any synopsis?

i was not at the game. got the stats from the augie website.

uss, wasn't the over/under for Wallick gaining 140 yards?  I don't think it was Black.

It was wallick. i was just pointing out none of us would have expected black to get the over and wallick the under. sorry, should have been more clear

as is the case in most evenly matched contests, turnovers were the difference for elmhurst (as we all said might happen). without them carthage likely is the victor but congrats to elmhurst for stepping up and taking advantage.

I am quite surprised with the success of the running games for both teams. although many of carthages yds were by the qb. I am still not on the elmhurst wagon yet, but they took care of business with an impressive road win. thats what you have to do to win this conference. we will know just how good elmhurst is next week as they play augie. I think we know elmhurst has a veteran defense that can win in the cciw but next week we find out if their offense can get them where they need to go. augie appears to have a very good defensive team (just looking at stats so far).

Ilook forward to that matchup to confirm the path elmhurst is on. for now, congrats on a strong win!

an interesting trend to me is the way the cciw seems to be a stronger defensive team this year. last year we had some very impressive offensive teams and numbers and i remember all of us commenting on how defense wasn't as good. this year it appears we have several very strong defensive teams (augie, elm, carthage, wheaton) and not so many wide open offenses. the numbers bear this out if you look at last years stats vs this years.

interesting to see how this plays out.
