Note how CardAlum's pic is in black and white...

NCC has had the bell so few times since they developed color photography that they haven't had a chance to take a picture of it in color.  :D
Wait, dunks are only worth two points?!?!!!? Why does anyone do them? - diehardfan

Well, if you took it from our site, it just makes it worse. Brett could be trying to be artistic with the B&W... but it's even worse that you've had it for such a small amount of time that you not only need to steal a pic of it from our site to remember what it looks like, you haven't had any time to take pictures of your own. :P

I'm resilient. :)

more famous Monon Bell! ;D ;)

More famous in whose eyes?  I don't think there is that feeling in these parts!  :)

Oops! :-[

I should have known to qualify that!  I'm sure the Monon Bell game is more famous nationally, but locally...?

The constant references to North Central College as the "naperville school" are really dreogatory and insulting.

Considering that it's 'bell' week, I'm quite sure that was the intent! ;D

It's just  that I expected that Wheaton College, with all their ties to Bill Graham, the four on the floor rules, and the code of conduct would be better than that. I'd expect that from Elmhurst and Carthage, but not from Wheaton. :P

Do you mean to Benedictine? :D

Uhhh, Benedictine is in Lisle!

Lisle, Naperville... "what's the difference?"   :P

It's all "Iowa" as far as I'm concerned.  ;)

Just an FYI about mumps outbreak at a couple of schools in the conference.

Does this affect rosters?

To this point, I have not heard of any cases with the football team.

I about fell out of my chair laughing at this one!   ;D

Besides the bell game with those two West Suburb schools  ;), how are the rest of the week's matchups shaping up?  I haven't heard much from the IWU camp about Homecoming against the Red Men (I just snickered at how funny that looks separated), but be sure that IWU should be ready for a great game.  Hopefully we'll have our starting tailback back in the game.  From the Elmhurst-Carthage game, I'm almost betting this will be a tale of two defenses.

ah good old Brass Bell week and the Cards/Thunder folk are throwing stones at each other...gotta love that.
The Mumps cases are terrible and I hope those infected can get cured soon.  The case at Elmhurst involves a commuter (male) student.  I don't believe he is on the football team.  He is not allowed on campus until he gets "cleared" of the virus.  Unfortunately, there have been a few cases in DuPage County of the Mumps.  I guess all those painful vaccines that made you/I cry as little kids are worth it.. Mom DOES know a few things.  :D
"I'd expect that from Elmhurst and Carthage, but not Wheaton"
Midwestfb-- are you implying that Elmhurst doesn't have morals and attempts to keep a "clean" atmosphere on campus ???
I can't speak for Carthage, but for Elmhurst I know the campus holds a high level of esteem and has certain rules and regulations that try to keep the "nonsense" from getting out of hand.
Looking at your comment I would think you meant it to be, Wheaton's religious ties has them in a different grouping than the other 7 schools, but the way it is written and the context of the phrase, has a connotation that you think EC/Car are dumps, which they are not.

Not really true, Jaybird; NPU is an evangelical school as well. But if that means that Parkers are going to be rapped on the knuckles by the self-anointed Morals Police merely for engaging in some good-natured rivalry banter the way that the Wheaties on this board have been, we can always go back to keeping NPU's Christian identity a secret.  :D

Some quotes about Cardinals I got from the following article.

Chapman (1912) refers to the cardinal as "rather a clumsy fellow. His body appears to be stiff, as if it were made of wood, different in every way from the pliant, lithe body of the Catbird, for example. He hops about on the ground with tail held well up out of harm's way, and comes heavily down upon his feet, as if his body were really very solid. In fact, he is not at all a graceful bird."

Thomas S. Roberts (1932) says: "It is a rather restless, uneasy bird, moving constantly about, and when disturbed, registers its annoyance by elevating the crest to the fullest extent and accompanying its rather feeble chip by quick jerks of the long tail."

Some observers have stated that cardinals seldom bathe, or that the male rarely does so.

LOL... taking good-natured banter to another level.

A comment from the article that struck me was:

QuoteThe cardinal lays from two to five eggs, with three or four most often forming the set.

Here's hoping the naperville school lays a few more than 5 "eggs" on Saturday.
