When did this playful "feud"  between Mugsy--CardinalAlum-- Diehardfan-- etc. start?

There's nothing playful about it(at least this week!)  Mugsy and I have "bonded" if that's what you want to call it because we played against each other for a couple of years back in the Stone Age.  DHF has joined in because Mugsy couldn't handle me alone!  ;D  Plus, I heard about the great cookies(which I have ZERO chance of seeing right now!).

You guys played in the Stone Age? Wow, I'm even older than that. Heck, anyone remember when NCC beat Wheaton 6 years in a row? Well, I started that. Imagine this. The Bell was at NCC for 3 of my 4 years, and then anothrer 3 after that ---- possibly the longest extended period in the history (oh that's sad).

You mean that's not a picture of DHF's mother? I always thought that DHF was ... younger.

nobody's talking about the Millikin/North Park game.  I think this is going to be closer than what one might think on paper.  What if North Park is able to control Wallick?  North Park showed they were able to fight (at least for a half) against North Central.
While I think Millikin is going to win this game, I would be interested to see what others think is going to be the key(s) to the game this Saturday.

You lose credibility when you talk like this. NPU beat a poor IBC team but also got whacked by a middle IBC team. They have one excellent WR (the best in the conference). Let's be realistic. NPU hung with NCC for just over a quarter not a half, leading at one point 14-7 on a freakish, busted play. But the score was 35-14 at halftime and ended up to be a 44 point difference. Millikin should be able to beat NPU by 20+ points. Every week, someone says they have a good feeling about NPU in their matchup. Sorry, but NPU doesn't have the athletes right now. Maybe in a couple years but right now they can't compete.

At this point, I'm just happy that none of the people talking up NPU in this room are actually fans of the Vikings. The only thing worse than rooting for a bad team is seeing one of your fellow fans make a baseless claim on behalf of that bad team.

I'm glad to see that you gave Brandon Watts some props, midwestfb. He is certainly a bright light in an otherwise bleak season at NPU.

The problem for NPU is how to get Brandon Watts more touches. Wheaton's offense seems fairly diversifed  (as in no really dominant player) and unless Kniss miraculously leads NCC to the CCIW title, I'd advocate Watts for the Offensive POY. Now that it would be something, the OPOY on a team with no conference wins.

RedmenFB44-

You still around or have your hamstring injuries hampered you from getting online?  What do you think of the game this weekend? ???

LOL im still around just reading all this banter HAHA. My hamstrings are still bothering me but im dumb and still going to play softball tonight. I guess thats just the smart person I am  ;D As for the game it will be a tough one. Carthage doesnt always play as well on the road so I hope they dont have a let down. When I played, IWU was a team we HAD to beat. I would say they were our biggest rival because your head coach hated Carthage and talked bad about our school. BUt thats over now and I hope that it will be a great game down south.

Welcome back...  The same thing goes here, Carthage was always a big hurdle in having a successful season at IWU.  I don't know if our head coach hated Carthage, I think we more disliked the 6 hour road trip before a game.  Plus, you are the only Wisconsin school in the CCIW ;D.  I know this weekend is Homecoming at IWU and I wont' be able to make it.  Yet, I expect the stands to be filled and the game to be spectacular!  I believe it will come down to IWU's defense again making plays.  If they DO this week, the game should be close.

BTW, just checked www.ihsa.org and CLC beat Grayslake Central (I feel old now because it was Community when i went there) 42-0.   :o That was unheard of in our years!! My how times have changed.  I remember when i was a kid... :D

In other news, I still think Augie wins this week solely based on their running attack.  Millikin shouldn't have a problem with NPU.  If NPU has only ONE good player, Millikin should know that and lock him down defensively with double teams, etc.  Wheaton/NCC-I believe Wheaton will win this one big to avenge the loss last year.  Just a thought.  IWU/Carthage-IWU Homecoming, big crowd, nice central Illinois day, two teams working to get back to where they once were on top of the mountain.  I say it will be the closest game of the week.

He's the featured wideout, the kick returner, and the punt returner. He's leading the league in receptions per game, all-purpose yards per game, and punt-return average, and he's third in the nation in punt-return average and 24th in receptions per game. Everyone who faces NPU knows that Watts is the go-to guy on every play in which he's on the field. Short of turning the end-around into a playbook staple, it's hard to imagine anything else that Scott Pethtel can do to give Watts more touches.

we are going to have to see an awful lot of production from this brandon watts to even be mentioned in the "also recieving votes" for POY. if he is as good as the guy that graduated from np last year (starting wideout can't remember his name) then he is a top flight reciever in the cciw but no where near a poy candidate. if he is significantly better than last years model, then where has he been? that's actually a game i think i can get to so i look forward to watching him. np always has some very good athletes. they just need more of them in every class so they can consistently develop and coach them.

I remember darnell rios a few years back. he was the best rb in the conference that year (along w the carthage kid if i remember right). npu had the Love brothers back in the 80's (a qb and a reciever??) who were also very good.

I hate the Green Weenies.  I always hated them and I will continue to hate them.  However, playing against IWU was one of my favorite games every year.  It was always a good physical game.

My pick Carthage in a close one.  Don't Cry for Norm!!!

North Park actually had three Love brothers who starred on the football team:

* Scott Love was a three-time All-CCIW receiver (second team, first team, and first team) in 1983, 1984, and 1985;

* Todd Love was a two-time All-CCIW receiver (second team and honorable mention) in 1986 and 1987;

* John Love was a two-time All-CCIW quarterback (first team and first team) in 1989 and 1990.

Scott Love is NPU's all-time career leader in receptions and receiving yards. His brothers are all over the school's record book as well.

Does it make you hate us more to know that to us, Carthage was pretty inconsequential?  We were always more concerned with Augie/Wheaton/Millikin.

So much anger there.  Do you hate because we would traditionally beat you guys with class in the past?  :P

DHF,  nooooo!  I am not calling you old and fat.  No way no how!  I enjoyed the night we met and we had a pretty good time.  I know that was a few years ago.  We went to one of the Wheaton buildings and heard one of your friend's gigs play.
I was referring to hair cuts.  I have been thrown in the doghouse for "Honey, how does my new hair cut look.. and be honest"  And then of course I didn't say what she wanted to hear... thus I spent the night with Fido.
Devildog, I'm with you this week.  I think Wheaton beats up on North Central and takes the Bell back.
Mugsy/CardinalAlum you guys crack me up.  This is better than the Montagues and Capulets or Sacco/Vanzetti feuds.

Brandon Watts best receiver in the CCIW?  Perhaps,  but I would take Eric Haldeman and Terrency Young over Watts. Just IMO

I picked Wheaton to win last year though, so my "pick 'em's" ability is obviously questionable at best.
