So much anger there.  Do you hate because we would traditionally beat you guys with class in the past?  :P

Beat us Yes.  With class No!

But like I said it was one of my favorite games, partly because my best friend was your middle backer and partly because it was always a down and dirty game!

I'm pretty sure Darnell Rios ran me over a couple times.  Then again...that list is much longer than I'd like to admit.

North Park actually had
i]three[/i] Love brothers who starred on the football team:

* Scott Love was a three-time All-CCIW receiver (second team, first team, and first team) in 1983, 1984, and 1985;

* Todd Love was a two-time All-CCIW receiver (second team and honorable mention) in 1986 and 1987;

* John Love was a two-time All-CCIW quarterback (first team and first team) in 1989 and 1990.

Scott Love is NPU's all-time career leader in receptions and receiving yards. His brothers are all over the school's record book as well.

The depth of you knowledge always surprises me.   :o  Do you find this stuff on line or do you just know it?   ???

Well this one was a North Park question, so it was a slam dunk for him. Greg Sager is all things North Park and has been deeply involved with North Park athletics.

I blush, gentlemen. Thank you for the compliments.  ;D However, there's no mnemonic wizardry on my part at work here. The NPU football record book is on the school's website.

Ok gang, I'm headed out to Wheaton from beautiful Michigan.  Looking forward to seeing the campus again and enjoying my reunion.  My wife and I will be in the hadicapped seating in the metal stands just to the right of the main grandstand at the football game in case anyone wants to stop and say hello.  I don't know what I will be wearing, but I do have a beard and my wife might be in her wheelchair.  Go Wheaton, heres to getting the Bell back!

Sometimes get the feeling that Greg is just the super master of all things google... it's probably because I'm jealous. :D :P ;)

Although, I guess I technically have almost 20 years to catch up.  ;D

Any Augie fans out there to give us a health report/injury update?  Who's going to be their main running backs Sat?  Will McDowell play?
Looks like all our games will have good weather for Saturday.
Greg, I was always impressed with your vast knowledge of NPU and the CCIW.  I always thought (the couple times we met) that you should have gone into Sports Administration at North Park.

2 of those Love brothers marrid into my wife's family.  I actually don't hear a lot about North Park football from them!  What I do know is that Wheaton would have "loved" to get those guys!

IWU as a classless team...I beg to differ on that one.

News from BloNo, IWU may shake things up this week with injuries and a poor performance at Augie.  Look for personnel changes at key positions and their starting RB Marcus Dunlop to be back.

Welcome back...  The same thing goes here, Carthage was always a big hurdle in having a successful season at IWU.  I don't know if our head coach hated Carthage, I think we more disliked the 6 hour road trip before a game.  Plus, you are the only Wisconsin school in the CCIW ;D.  I know this weekend is Homecoming at IWU and I wont' be able to make it.  Yet, I expect the stands to be filled and the game to be spectacular!  I believe it will come down to IWU's defense again making plays.  If they DO this week, the game should be close.

BTW, just checked www.ihsa.org and CLC beat Grayslake Central (I feel old now because it was Community when i went there) 42-0.   :o That was unheard of in our years!! My how times have changed.  I remember when i was a kid... :D

In other news, I still think Augie wins this week solely based on their running attack.  Millikin shouldn't have a problem with NPU.  If NPU has only ONE good player, Millikin should know that and lock him down defensively with double teams, etc.  Wheaton/NCC-I believe Wheaton will win this one big to avenge the loss last year.  Just a thought.  IWU/Carthage-IWU Homecoming, big crowd, nice central Illinois day, two teams working to get back to where they once were on top of the mountain.  I say it will be the closest game of the week.

Yeah Grayslake split into 2 schools (which hurts their football program). Crystal Lake Central is 3-3 right now. It is the first time since 1996 I believe that CLC has had 3 or more wins! Thats how bad Central has been the past 10+ years. I won 2 games my JR year there (with one the big win over Grayslake  ;))

Hiker,
Didn't you once say that former Augie wingback George Velasquez was your brother-in-law? You guys must've had some Hellacious family reunion football games.

Jaybird,
Just going by the depth chart on Augie's website it looks like RB's Augie Anderson and Joel Campbell must still be out, neither is listed on the two-deep. On defense, LB Preston Jones is still missing from the two-deep, although S Brad Monier, who was out last week, is listed as a starter. By the way, I'm not buying the "Elmhurst upsetting Augie" angle. I think the Bluejays are the favorite, but I definitely agree there's more pressure on the Vikes to win this week.

Hooray for karma!!

On a sidenote, the breakup does hurt Grayslake football but it was a smart move for the city.  They've never really been that big into sports at all in that town.  G Central (to differentiate from CL Central) runs a wing t Augie type offense that really hasn't worked with the personnel they have.  They're players just aren't that big and strong.  North has all juniors on their team and a first year head coach.  It's been a big learning experience for them.  Yet, you'll realize that Grayslake lieks to fire coaches that actually put together winning programs because they "put too much pressure on the kids."  BS is my call on that one!

Good to hear CLC is doing well.  As usual, Cary Grove is dominating when in our time it was more the McHenry team. >:(

RedmenFB-  Do you know Jason Kalinowski and still talk to him?  I jsut saw him a few months ago and evidently he's a police officer now.  That kid was an athlete!  We're from the same area and grew up playing TBall together but he played sports for Round Lake while I played for Grayslake.

I just cried a tear for that loss.  What a heartbreaker for us under the lights.   :'( :'( :'( :'(

Yeah I know Jason he was a year younger than me at Carthage. He was our starting DT and I think he was second team all-conference 2 years. I lived right next to him in the dorms. I haven't talked to him in a while thou but I did hear that he was a police officer. He's a great guy and an amazing football player.
