i am not a friend of studebaker, but must say he is a heck of a player.  Does the SID or coach from the school have to nominate the player for Team of the week, or does d3football.com management (aka pat coleman) go and search.  The reason I ask is because as an NC fan, I dont think we have had many players on the TOW even after turning in stellar performances.

Now it is time for the attack from someone who doesnt like Shakira.....

My understanding is that a player has to be nominated.  I seem to recall someone wondering why Mt Union players were rarely if ever on the team, and someone responding that Larry Kehres refuses to single out individual players 'since it's a TEAM game'.

And to clarify further, I believe the nomination comes from the SID's, not D3Football staff.

Another note for  NCC CARDINAL FOOTBALL ALUMNI who may see this.

The alumni football game starts at 8:30 am sharp on Saturday, Oct 14  (THIS WEEK).    We should have a good turnout.

All former football players are welcome to play.

"For Elmhurst to win in Naperville, they have to play their BEST game ever."
I disagree.  Elmhurst walked into Kenosha first week of the CCIW and was able to knock off previously undefeated Carthage.  They are also 2-0 on the road this year.
I think as long as Elmhurst plays fundamentals and doesn't turn the ball over (very important!) the Bluejays have a great shot to win the game.  IMO, North Central is about the same level as Carthage.
I do agree that Elmhurst has to open up the playbook and throw the ball to their receivers more often.  This is what kills me from last week. Their quick slants to Young or Cooley Jr. were working, and they shyed away from it  ???
I am looking forward to Saturday's game.  Somebody mentioned it earlier and it is true, that 4 of the last 5 years have boiled down to execution in the 4th quarter.

Carthage/NPU--  Talked to Coach Rucks today and we discussed this matchup.  While we both agreed that Carthage should not have too much trouble, Coach Rucks told me about NPU always playing the Redmen tough.
I still think this one is a runaway.

I think NCC is better than CArthage by a margin. I may be wrong becasues i havent seen the redmen this year. this is my hunch. when ncc beats elmhurst handily on saturday I will be more sure.

That is true unless carthage beats NCC.  What if Carthage beats NCC who Beats Elmhurst? Then Who is better???    ???

So many ifs this year!

I believe that some teams take the Vikes for granted initially and NPU then jumps up on them.  Once the more talented teams wake up it os hard for us to stay with them right.  The future is bright......we keep telling ourselves that and hopefully the improvement will continue.  I truely hope our boys go to Kenosha this weekend and belive they can play for 4 quarters.  From what I have watched and heard this is a very beatable Carthage squad.

It was also very encouraging to see almost 20 recruits at last weekend's home game.  I believe I saw some Andrew, Guiliford and Fremd jackets which are just the type of schools the Vikes need to get into

Comet14-- I agree that Elmhurst has to bring their A game on Saturday... then again that could be said for everybody in the CCIW on Saturday.
FormerCard-- Are former Elmhurst fb players allowed to play??  hehe  :P
I could round up 7-10 guys that played for EC between 1998-2000.
Lakeshore- When I met with Coach Pethtel prior the season, he told me his main focus is 2 things:  A) Fight harder to get recruits from the Chicago and suburban areas i.e. MSL, DVC, CSL, Catholic Leagues, etc.  His second goal was to B)  Sell the city of Chicago as part of his recruiting process.  I love North Park's setting in the city and close to the downtown area.  Pethtel is going to try and use this as a tool to attract incoming Freshmen.

Regardless of your home preference of teams, how can you NOT like Andy Studebaker??  That man knows how to play football and from a defensive mind,  I love to see his pass rushes.  I have seen him be double teamed (Albion game) and fight through 3 guys to get to the QB.  One of the best D-Linemen in the CCIW and in all of D-3.

Are you serious?  Your NCC actually has an alumni football game?  That is great.  How many years has it been held?  I know that some schools do (such as DI Tulane).  As much as I would like Hope to have one, I doubt that would be allowed for some reason, although they do have an alumni lacrosse game.  Even us "old guys" would love to get in there for a play or two, even if it is a really controlled scrimmage!.  Anyway, hope you guys have a great (and safe) time.  All the best to you.

I did see that quote after I posted.  But i know that it cant just be any person from the school.  Is it the coach, could a fan just write in, is it the SID,  is it the Dean of Students?

We have been doing it for at least the last 5 years.  I am not sure before that.  We get a good group of guys out there and play flag football for about 2 hours and relive glory days.  We dont have pads our anything like that, which would probably be more of a problem than a good thing.
