Sometimes it is fun to go to a football game (at any level) and be a neutral party with no preference to who wins/loses.

I agree.  Living in TX now, I go to the Trinity games whenever I can, and it's fun to just watch football for the pure sport of it and not have any emotion in it (read Bears Monday Night game here).  As an independent viewer I find I can see the game analytically so much better and see schemes develop so much easier because I'm not watching from a one-sided, biased view.

And redman04, you're first on my list.........:)
Hail, Hail, the gang's all here, all out for Wesleyan!

Usee- First of all You don't need experience to have an opinion. I have not watched a lot of D3 playoffs nor have I watched a lot of D3 football up till this year. That being said the information is there for anyone who wants to read it.

You certainly can have your opinion. my question is related to what information you have gathered to form yours? this is your first year in D3 and you don't have any background so how did you form your opinion? there is a ton of info out there. There are a large number of informed posters on these boards. you could go back through last year and see how it worked with all the posts. Also, the D3 playoff experts are Pat and his team who run this board. they put out projections every year and I think they have missed 3 teams in 3 years or something like that. the playoff Q&A has a link on the front page too for info.

Random question about the poll and one i'll ask the more seasoned fellas on the board.  Since the CCIWs inception, how many times has the conference ended in a tie?  I'm just curious as to figure out why many have voted for a tie this year.  I understand the strengths of teams and I've read through the posts and possible scenarios, yet i still believe that the conference will be clearly won by a single team.

Near as I can tell from the CCIW website:

1949: Augie & Wheaton (5-0)
1952: Lake Forest & Millikin (3-0-1)
1954: Millikin & Wheaton (5-1)
1957: Lake Forest & Wheaton (6-1)
1974: IWU & Millikin (7-1)
1977: IWU & Millikin (6-2)
1978: Elmhurst & Millikin (7-1)
1980: Elmhurst & IWU (6-2)
1988: Augie & Carroll (7-1)  Huge satisfaction in knocking Carroll out of the playoffs that year in the last game in the CCIW schedule with a loss to Wheaton! Ah... the role of a spoiler.  ;D
1990: Augie & Millikin (7-1)
1994: Augie & IWU (6-1)
2000: IWU, Millikin, & Wheaton (6-1)
2001: Augie & IWU (6-1)
2004: Carthage & Wheaton (6-1)

NOTE: Teams in bold went to playoffs.

Clearly since 2000 this has become much more common given the level of competitiveness in the CCIW.  3 times in 6 years there has been co-CCIW champs.

There obviously is some belief that Augie will not run the table.  That would be the votes for the tie.

it is most likely the conference will be won by a single team as mugsys records clearly indicate. we talk about the 3 way tie because it is more possible than ususal and its a lot more fun to speculate about.  A 2 way tie is more likely than a 3 way tie and then head to head determines the winner. For example if carthage beats augie and then carthage loses to wheaton and augie wins out....augie would get the AQ and wheaton likley would get a pool C.

I agree that is the belief. I personally think they will win this weekend and lose to North Central next weekend.

I just wish you were more emphatic about a Wheaton win over Augie.

Well, it seems my problem is solved.  I just don't see anyone stopping Augie from this point on.  Believe me, I'd love to be wrong.  ;D

usee- " What information have you gathered to form yours" you answerd your own question with the rest of your post. I have read as much information as I could find on recent CCIW seasons since my son first started considering what school he wanted to play at. He had a lot of teams he could have played on as a freshmen but those teams didn't win. He wanted to go to a school and conference that was good so the homework started then.

I hope you all realize I was kidding about being right a lot. just look at my place in the pickems to see the proof of that.

To be fair I thought Wheaton would handle Augie pretty good. At least I was hoping so. As I mentioned in my posts before that game that an undefeated conf champ was our only hope in the playoffs since augie got beat by BW so handily. I hope I am wrong now.
