Unfortunately, she has taken several "breaks" from posting, only to have the same issues arise again.  Seemed to me she wanted to take a complete break so that she wouldn't be tempted to return.  I know she loved the banter with 95+% of those on the boards - particularly the CCIW boards.

I think you and I were definitely in the 5%!   :P ;D

Augie still has a great following. Last week it was hard to find a place to park or sit, this week was probably the smallest I've seen, but I know from experience that its next to impossible to find a seat at the away stadiums.  But I'll stand if it means watching Augie take another conference champ.  Go Augie O and D

Augie/ NCC
If Augie can avoid costly turnovers and execute the Wing T as crisply as they did this weekend against Carthage I think they can defeat NCC. Augie's offense is controlled and maticulous and they burn a lot of clock. They rolled up over 300 rushing yds on a defense that was holding opponents under 100 yds per game. This will limit the number of possesions NCC will have to score. While NCC has a quick strick capability (Augie doesn't) they will be facing a pretty solid defense that appears to be able to avoid the big play.

If NCC can get some early points offensively, defensively or through special teams and maintain a couple possesion lead into the second half their chances of winning improve greatly. If NCC can force Augie out of it's running game I feel Augie becomes a less than average offense. Augie did score a passing TD on Carthage, but that play was more of a heave by a pressured QB and a great catch by a well covered receiver who won the jump ball in the front corner of the endzone. The other couple of pass attempts I recall were badly overthrown to open receivers. NCC will be able to move the ball. Carthage rolled up around 325 yds. The question is how many opportunities will they get and can they cash them in?

None-the-less this should be a real close game and a real good one to watch. As always, the team that executes and makes the fewest mistakes should come out on top.

This board has lost a great member with April's departure.  I have met her in person and she is an adorable person inside and out.  Those who have ripped her and treated her like dirt, well you will have that come back to hit you in the face someday.  This is a woman who knows a lot more Thunder Football  than half the male population at Wheaton College.
Tailgater,  Augie had a pretty good turnout at the Elmhurst game a few weeks ago.  That could be A) many of Augie's players are from DuPage County.  B) Elmhurst was undefeated at the time and Augie was the favorite, setting up a good matchup  C) sheer coincidence.
Wheaton moving into the Top 25 this week?  While I would love to see this, crushing North Park is not even an average win.  That would be like Elmhurst ripping up Concordia Chicago 62-0 or Augustana beating Eureka big.  North Park is not yet a quality team.
True loyal fans support their team in good times and bad.  Not blowing my own horn, but I have been through some difficult times at Elmhurst, calling games on the air when they have been down 62-0, 58-0, 56-6, a few years back.  Now they are on the right track and it's great to still be apart of it.  Fair weather fans only come out when the sun is shining.
Kind of like the Elmhurst Jazz Band leaving after halftime.  I still hate when they do that! ugh! >:(

1) Diehardfan knew more about Wheaton football than about 80% of the men at Wheaton.  The only ones who knew more were the football players themselves, avid football nuts, half of the swim team and some others here and there around campus.  The rest were either in the library, conservatory or playing intramural soccer.

2) Wheaton is in the top 25.  They are #25 as I had anticipated.  Big win against a lowly opponent or not, when you are 2 teams out of the top 25 and the #20, #21, #23 and #24 lose, you will move up.

Incidently, Augie is now only 4 teams away from entering the top 25 as well.

That yellow text color isn't working well for me. I Can't see it. Could you change the color so my bad eyes don't struggle so much, Thanks! ;D

I must say that these last two wins for NCC make me feel alot better after the Wheaton game.  I was elated to hear they won out at Milikin which is a place I know we have struggled at.  I must say the commentary from WONC (our radio station) tonight on the game was laughable...they obviously didn't know CCIW football and questioned Milikins history of great rushing offenses and running backs...anyway a win there by any amount is a great win in my book Milikin is a very physical team and I think are better than thier record would suggest.  I give them a lot of respect.

Auggie week is upon us!  I know both teams are going to prepare very hard for this game.  I hope our D-Line can get stout and make plays and that the LB's bring thier a-game.  Auggie will be bringing thiers.  Look forward to being there this Saturday

NCC!

Also I don't know about whatever happened to DHF, being a recent poster and not overly familiar with everyone, but I hope she returns too...I thought she made insightful and excellent remarks on the board regardless of gender, hope she comes back and its a shame that someone who loves her school and team as much as she does could feel unwanted on this chat board.

Mr. Ypsi

While I'm delighted to see the outpouring of affection and respect for April, she won't be coming back for at least a very long time.  She found it a necessary step for her emotional well-being.

The problems went far beyond any banter or disrespect on the board.  While I don't feel free to present any specifics, Pat found it appropriate to permanently ban one offender (not a CCIW person), and I advised her to contact the police as a precaution.

Since (I believe) she does still read the boards, I believe she would be more comfortable if we dropped any further open-board discussion of her.  Thanks.

Yup... I knew about the other issues, but I didn't want to bring it up out of respect for her.  My goal was simply to respond to the question of where is DHF without going into great length about the "why?"

My biggest concern is the way NCC has come out to start the last few games.  We just don't seem ready to play from the start.  If we start out like we did against Millikin, Elmhurst and North Park, it will be a long day in Naperville.  (posted this on the pick em's board by mistake)  :-[

I also don't think the community is behind Augie as much as some of the other schools closer to Chicagoland. With a great majority of Augie's population coming from the Chicagoland area, I don't think the students and community share the same bond as a Elmhurst or Wheaton.

I can't believe it has come to this. There is no way any team (mayber IWU) has as good a following as Augie football. for years and years they have been the most represented team in the conference from the visiting side. all home games were SRO. I certainly don't believe elmhurst and wheaton have a better following than Augie, even now.

Wow, how things change.

Looking at attendance figures for this year,  Augie's largest crowd at home was 2,307 vs Wheaton on homecoming. Their smallest crowd was this past weekend against Carthage at 903 people. Their average this year is 1,455 per game.  Wheaton's largest crowd was 4,987 and are averaging 3,717 per game.  Elmhurst's largest crowd was 3,479 and are averaging 3,018.  Augie barely drew 500 people for the playoff game last year. Granted there were other things happening in the QC's, but still not a good showing especially for the playoffs.

Doggie...you have to remember that game was during thanksgiving break...
