Second, I do not wish to take anything away from the individuals recognized as this weeks POW, both CCIW and D3Football.com "Team of the Week".

Hmmm, sounds to me like you do!   :P

Wow, it is getting scary! :o  I was thinking the same thing when I saw that Watts had been honored a couple of times this week.  I agree that he is a great player, but I'm not sure that his accomplishment is as good as others on teams that didn't get beat by 50 points!

Yeah... it was just something that struck me as odd.  I know ultimately it comes down to a judgement call, to which it can be really difficult to gauge the relative weight of achievement (particularly at the national level).

Actually I don't.  If I did, I would be critical of a Wheaton player as well (Andrew Hershey), which would go against all "homer" instincts and rules.

Clearly Hershey had a great game and did an excellent jog filling in for Chaz Black, but how much of that is a result of Wheaton's O-line going up against the weakest defense in the CCIW?

I guess... like I said, I don't think it is a huge issue.  As Arsenio Hall used to say before he fell of the face of the earth...  "one of those things that makes you say Hmm...."

I know you did not specifically refer to Carthage's O-line when syaing "give up 200 rushing yds to an offense like Carthage"(negative connotation), but you must agree that 90% of the time, when an offense is being knocked for it's lack of productivity the first thing everyone points a finger at is the O-line.

Yeah, the other 10% is TrueAugieAlum bashing the coaching staff.  ;D

Truth hurts, doesn't it!!

A disturbing pre-game ritual by the Bluejays has come to my attention from the article following the quote:

"Blue Jays have an interesting behavior called "anting." When they molt (birds lose feathers as they grow new ones), Blue Jays will pick up ants and rub them on their bodies. We do not know for sure why they do this, but our best guess is that something in the ants soothes their skin as the new feathers come in. Sometimes Blue Jays "ant" with other items, such as rotten fruit."   ;D

LOL... you kill me with these every week!  Keep them coming in the weeks to come, though you have a challenge with the "Redmen", particularly if you must use the PC "Red Men" that the NCAA "encouraged" Carthage College to use.

To honor my favorite poster I vow not to use any sites that are deragatory or defaming to Native Americans, which I wouldn't want to do anyway but just thought that I would point that out.  Guess I better start my search now!

Not to do your homework for you or anything, MB, but you might want to use the "child sacrifice in ancient Carthage" angle:

Thanks for the tip GS.  I think that I am trying to stick with mascot names because I used the mascot name as a starting point during Little Brass Bell week and it just kind of went from there.  I used the Vikings singing "Spam" from Monty Python during Augie week, missed out on North Park Vikings, and now the Blue Jay stuff.  However, you do provide some food for thought......

Somebody was talking about the IWU/NPU game. I think there is a slight chance 10-20% that the Vikings could upset the Titans. I don't think this is going to happen mainly because Dunlop and the Titans can run the ball well. Plus they have Esch in the backfield that will roam around and prevent the Park's receivers.
Hate to say it, but NPU's last CCIW win came against??? Yup, us on our home field  >:(  Thankfully, I don't think that will happen this year.
Is it Saturday yet  ???  Middle of the week and I can't wait to take on the Thunder Saturday.

Comet 14

Hey whats the point spread on the Wheaton v.s Elmhurst game this weekend. I say Wheaton by 10 1/2.

matblake

Unfortunately for Rockford, they are an independent and that means Pool B.  Besides they still have to take on Minnesota-Morris this week which could equal a regional loss.  The discussion over on the Pool B board has them listed at about #6 right now.  Unfortunately, there are only 4 Pool B bids.

Is Rockford still playing mainly cupcake teams?  I'd bet they'd be beat by middle tier CCIW teams.

Comet, are you betting against your son's team already?  Or are you just stating a fact?  ;D :o

Of course, Rockford would then get dumped into the mix for Pool C if they didn't get a Pool B bid.  However, there are most likely 7 teams that would get consideration before them.
