Just looked at the region rankings....If CUW wins out could see a CUW CCIW game again....If its vs. Augie we could see the quickest game in football history

Especially with the new speed up rules at the end of the half.  2 hours? :P

Comet14--  The Radio signal is very strong West and South of the Elmhurst College.  East you can hardly get it b/c you have downtown (greater wattage) stations interfering and in the city, 88.7 is Loyola University.
Byron is out towards Harvard right?  I would venture to guess you won't get it and/or the reception would be faint in Byron.
The best thing I would say is if your Daughter's Swim Meet is near the Library,  you can periodically log on to www.wrse.com  and pick up the game.  I think I give the score usually every 1-2 minutes and when I get handed other scores, I relay them frequently.  Seeing as how the NC/Augie game is right around the block from the EC/Wheaton game,  I don't think I will have a problem getting the scores.
CardinalAlum-- I guess we disagree that's fine.  Again that's IMO and who I would give the ball to when it's 4th and 1 and I need a first down.  I have seen great things from all 3 backs (listed before) but IMO,  Wallick is the best I have seen in the CCIW this year.

Sulo is a Freshman and has the possibility to be a great one by the time he is a Senior. For the Cardinals' sake, I hope he stays healthy.  At the present time though, IMO  I would still give the ball to the aforementioned 3 guys before Sulo.

Sulo has more yards and a better per  carry average than Dunlop. Of course, I'd take Wallick and Black as the first two. But it doesn't matter whether someone is a freshman or a junior. Sulo has had a better year than Dunlop.

MidwestFB-- I agree that in 2006 Sulo is running better than Dunlop, but my 1,2,3 is based on A) What I have seen in person from each back  B) over an extended period of time (more than 1 year)
In reality, you can't go wrong with any of these mentioned backs.  I have just seen Wallick and Dunlop "take control" and single handedly win games before.  I saw Black vs. Albion and that was pretty.

NPU has had a dismal year. Other than Brandon Watts is there anyone on the team that may garner all-conference honors? I have been to 2 games this year vs. Carthage and Wheaton. The only other players that look like they are constantly competing is DE Larry Avery and their free safety. Are they a blip on the radar fo All CCIW??

79jaybird

Zorba-- I gave you a Karma point and hope we can get you out of the hole soon!  -8 how did it get that low?
North Park is in need of a lot of help ASAP.  I think Coach Pethtel is a start and he will bring in some great recruits, but the key is they need it now.  Look how long it took the likes of Carthage/NC/EC  to build up their programs into competitors.

No problem. We have have different criteria and are allowed to voice different opinions here. That's why teams run different offenses, different defenses, ...

CUW will win out as they play Greenville and Benedictine.   The cover piece on them on around the nation makes it look harder than they have it.  Credit to their coaches for not taking it for granted like an arm chair coach (me).   But given their league they appear to be head and shoulders above everyone else.

They appear to be fairly good when compared to our league as well.

NPU good players:

Decatur #90 is a fairly solid D-lineman 8 TFL 4 Sacks, at least he has been hard to block since I first saw him play a couple years ago.  But one D-line guy isn't gunna get free when everyone else is terrible and an offense can gameplan to him (not sure if anyone has or not)  I remember him giving NCC tackles fits not sure if its just against us.  Thier D is so terrible it makes it hard to shine because he can be avoided when everyone else gets blown off the ball.

Freshman Safety #24 is leading the D in tackles: which is a terrible sign that a freshman secondary player is leading the team in tackles, but her could be a gamer in the future with all the experience he is gaining

On the offensive side besides Watts not alot comes to mind...yikes for the vikes...not sure what year thier QB is but he COULD get better and with speedy WRs make some plays if he stops throwing so many picks (14 so far this season)

The running game is terrible 342 yards in 7 games! (the equivilant of one Auggie running day).  I know they pass alot but even NCC & Elmhurst have the draw/option/counter thing going for them which helps keep a D honest.

NCC_alum62

I don't think CUW is that good... :-\

Nothing against them but they are not Auggie.  NCC had a tough time with them its true, but I think NCC gave the game away more then CUW won it.  Kam Kniss had a terrible first half and the offense that has since gotten back on track didn't do anything to help a D that was banged up after training camp (I saw a ton of players in jeans and jerseys during that game)

No disrespect to CUW but NCC lost that game because they weren't prepared, didn't scrimmage another team in pre-season, and played out of position most of the night.  If NCC wins out and draws CUW in the play-offs the coaching staff will have those guys ready to play and I see a completly different story unfolding.

Then again I could be eating my words if NCC can't play well against Auggie (If they loose its fair to say the play-offs are out) I haven't seen them play a running team like CUW or Auggie since thier first game of the season.  Should be a great Saturday

I picked Augie because of 2 reasons.  The first is ball control.  North Central's first loss (albeit in double overtime) was to a run dominated team.  Kniss can score in a hurry, which is what I believe brought the Cardinals back in that game, but Augustana can be relentless with ball control.

Secondly, North Central has yet to put together a completely dominating performance for an entire game.  Against the Vikings, particularly now that their offense has seemed to get on track, you need to dominate the entire game.  Wheaton had several defensive miscues that Augustana had the talent and know how to capitalize on.  North Central cannot simply play hot and cold and expect to win this game, and that is basically all we have seen from the Cardinals this year.

mb,

i am not saying you are wrong but why would you say this given the fact that augie dominated most of the game vs wheaton and wheaton still could have one with 1 more possession. this argues against your point.

I think ncc has the ability to stay close and then put together a streaky quarter or half and win handily. I picked ncc by 10+ because I think the ncc offense is more consistent than any other they have faced and I think the ncc defense will be adequately prepared for the 1 dimensional augie offense. I do not think the passing game for augie will be a factor in the game.

I haven't seen dunlop so can't offer much of an opinion. I am planning on seeing the regular season finale vs IWU so can see him at full strength then I hope. I was impressed w Sulo. He is going to be a very good back in this league if he stays healthy. He is a physical runner has good vision and runs downhill.

Chaz Black will hopefully be back at TB for the Thunder this saturday. while I think Hercshey was good vs NPU there is a big difference between He and Black. Black had carried the ball a lot vs Millikin, NCC and Augie so obviously the coaches think there is a big drop off after Black. they usually spread the ball around to running backs more if they are capable. 30+ carries in a game is a lot of work to stay healthy in the CCIW.  I saw wheaton use brad thornton as a tailback some saturday and i like him there. big, physical and fast. especially in a 2 TE set as a single back. they should do that a lot more. thats a good package IMO.
