Augie did not have a 1st down in the 1st half.

Brick

All I can do is look at the poll and laugh....Augie is playing like garbage this week...

I am now listening to the augie announcers. I was about to apologize for saying they didn't give the score enough because they have actually been pretty decent. But then the augie announcers began saying how Augie needed to get the game under a 3 td lead because of the tie breaker. they continued by saying ncc beat wheaton by 21 so augie needs to lose by less than 21 to keep pace. I can't remember a more misinformed announcing team in recent history.

stick to the play by play because its not too bad.

Augie takes the second half kickoff and gets its first 2 first downs of the game as they move into ncc territory.

Brick

A nice stand by the Augie Defense holding NCC to one set of downs on their first possesion of the 2nd half

usee

augie threw an int before holding ncc on its initial drive.

not so good on ncc's 2nd possession for augie, ncc going the length of the field and now in the augie red zone.

NCC 27-0!!  3 minutes plus to go in the 3rd Q.

wheaton fans have now become augie fans. we need augie to get this back under a 21 pt game. it doesn't look good though.

If ncc wins out with at least a 21 pt margin they are in the drivers seat for the AQ in the playoffs and wheaton is fighting for a pool C.

usee

these augie announcers actually believe if augie loses by less than 21 then augie will still have 1st place.

for clarity, Augie came in w a pt differential of +3 and Wheaton has a +9. Augie is not a factor in the 3 way tiebreaker since there is no scenario where they can get ahead of wheaton. they need to win outright.

the other possibility is if ncc wins by 22 or more and then loses to carthage. in that case (if augie and wheaton win out) augie would get the AQ since they would be tied w wheaton having won head to head.

augie throws another int.

augie announcers continue to implore augie to score and get the score under 21pts for the tiebreaker. someone please put them out of their misinformed misery

CardinalAlum

6 minutes to go.  NCC still up 27-0 and driving.

final from Naperville.

NCC 27-0!!!!!!!!!!!

wow. when is the last time an augie team was shut out??(3-0 vs central notwithstanding).

no game for augie in naperville. NCC is in the drivers seat. the picture is clear. wheaton has virtually no chance at the AQ now. they can only win out and hope they get a pool C. Carthage can play spoiler. the only thing that can happen now is if carthage beats ncc augie would be the AQ. wheaton can get a pool C if they win out and are done w a loss.

not exactly sure if it was the last time, but augie played elmhurst to a 0-0 tie in the opening game of the 1986 season, which augie sid dave wrath said several weeks later that the two teams could still be playing and neither would have scored.

I am determined to be wise, but this was beyond me.
