More info from the above article:

At Samhuinn, having endured a summer of debauchery and merry making, the red men appear with deformations, walking sticks, blindness and clumsiness.

Here's hoping for "blindness and clumsiness" by the Red Men on Saturday. :P

I am actually hoping the red men get flagged for "deformations"

I have been reading posts from the weekend and I would have to agree with j-bird on the fact that Elmhurst is an improved team in the last 5 years.

Interesting observation from a guy who has less than 1 year CCIW experience.  ::)

Not to use it as an excuse but I don't think NCC would be where they are now without Kniss, lets not forget that Elmhurst has had a pretty good year without there starting QB.

everyon has injuries. if you want to be a top tier team you get depth and fight through them. Wheaton beat elmhurst without the best runningback in the league saturday.

Now on to the playoff picture. I hope that we can get 2 teams in the playoffs but I think it will be dificult. It does make for interesting talk though.

If NCC and Wheaton win out, 2 teams is a virtual slam dunk. (unless Augie falls in Decatur)

As of right now, what is the most likely scenario for NCC in the first round of the playoffs?

read back a few pages. its all there. or check the general football heading on the index. there are projections there. too.

Since you're a bball poster as well, I'll forgive the wrong sport's cliche!  You have overlooked one other possibility, however remote: Augie must also win out.  While I can't even imagine them losing at home to NPU, losing in Decatur (while unlikely) is by no means outside the realm of possibility.  If Augie does stumble, Wheaton becomes the AQ, and NCC's hopes for a C are distinctly less than Wheaton's.

No, NCC does not have two easy games. But they are winnable games. For this weekend, the pass rushers and secondary should be well rested for Panno and Ceisel.

Very true.  I would think that all CCIW games could be winnable.  With the exception of NPU beating Augie!  Sorry Vikings!   :'(

How bad of a thumping does anyone think Auggie will give NP?? If Wheaton put 70 something on them, I believe Auggie will do worse, especially coming off of that loss. Hate to be NP on Saturday!!! :o My prediction.....80-0!!!! Auggie could score more if they wanted to.

Technically, Wheaton has been playing the last 2 weeks with their 3rd string RB.

44 carries for 207 yards, 6 TD's and a 4.7 ypc average.  Not bad...

I think Sulo's performance against Augie would solidify him as a 1st team all-CCIW running back behind Black and Wallick.  I'm pretty sure they have always had three 1st team backs.

I like Comet, I just don't think he thought much about what he posted before he did. I am sure he will disagree. but you know me....i can't resist a debate.

Congrats to NCC this weekend thats a huge win.  Could be a rematch for the playoffs.  I bet all would be in store for another great game.  Good luck the rest of the year.

Well, if Chaz Black misses another game, I'd slide him down to 3rd and move Sulo up to 2nd. As Mugsy pointed out, Wheaton has done pretty well with a 3rd team running back. So maybe the credit goes to the OL!

The performance of NCC against Wallick (held to 50 yards)  is more impressive now since he was able to run for 142 yards against Carthage.

CardinalAlum

I don't think it will matter. The all conference voting is about reputation, politics and performance.  Black and Wallick have paid their dues, plus performed and will surely be 1st team.  Sulo has performed well enough to be the third 1st team back.
