Mr. Ypsi

Greg,

I DO now recall that.  And if YOU calling him out doesn't get a comment from Dennis, nothing will! :D

For ALL-time CCIW qb, I say Ken Anderson, then Steve Laub, then Bishop, Kniss, whoever (with NO disrespect intended to the last two named [or to 'whoever'])!  I just think those two 'old-timers' were THAT good.

True enough. But Dennis is never shy to contribute information about the days of yore when someone requests it, provided he actually sees the post.

the Falcons are a 100% zone running team so Im not sure of your point Titanbacker

You wouldn't call them an option team?  IMO, they run an offense very similar to a high school option offense and are doing very well with it.

UMMMM they run option...they don't run the Wing-T...your comments are valid, and yes many High Schools do win with the Wing-T...my comment was more along the lines that many offenses have updated and there are as many or more hs players that would want to go somewhere with a balanced or spread attack.

On another note...I have absolutly no problem with a team at any level running the option...I love the option...I don't like the Wing-T because one bad day with the wing-t is probably the longest day of a coaching staffs life that runs it.

Yes Atlanta (among many teams at different levels) is winning with some option, but they also run way more than just the option while teams like Auggie that run the Wing-T 100% with a play action sprinkled in are another story.

Looks like there are some bandwagon jumpers to what I have been preaching the last few weeks  8)

Now some of you see that the offensive coaching is blind, inept, and moronic!!!  Talking about a small offensive line - Look at the roster and see who was wasted this year by standing on the sidelines!

Wow I actually did.  They have some big guys...buit big doesn't mean they can play or are athletic enough.  We had a 6'7 340 lb transfer from Ark Pine-Bluff a couple years ago at NCC that a coach brought in to threaten all the o-linemen that they were gunna loose thier jobs...lifted a ton, couldn't get into a stance to save his life and was in terrible shape...needless to say he was gone by the end of the season (along with that coach)

Not that thats what the Auggie OL looks like, but there are always reasons why someone doesn't start, but it does seem like they started a fairly small OL (at least at NCC) as compared to recent years when they had mammoth lines that could really get a push.  I love OL play and Auggie has had some great ones play the position, it just seemed like they were really off last Sat

Good luck to all the CCIW teams this weekend (with the exception of IWU for obvious reasons)  The Cardinal coaching staff was talking in the post game huddle about finishing strong after the Auggie game (knowing they control thier own destiny in a way) and I think they will have the team ready for a talented but languishing IWU team...they have players but lac cohesion these last couple years.

I've never liked going down to Bloomington to play the titans but if they get out of there with a win by any amount they put themselves in great position next week hosting Carthage.

They have been off ALL year.  Defense has won the majority of the games for Augie this year.
And I have seen the play of some of the BIG players who are standing on the sideline.  Believe me when I say that the offensive coaching staff is moronic!!

I actually think there is a better chance wheaton loses to carthage this weekend in kenosha than ncc losing next weekend in naperville. that said i don' think either will lose.
I think you are Correct!  Although Carthage will be the underdog in both games, I like their chances a whole lot better this weekend than in Naperville.  NCC has been very tough at home the past couple of years!

The Homer in me always believes that they will always win!!!

TAA,

Let's step back and take a look at this.  I really don't think the Augie coaches have all of a sudden forgotten how to evaluate the talent on the field.   If your son, oops, I mean if these big players, aren't on the field, it's because they probably are not better than the guys in front of them.  No coach in his right mind is going to sit a better player that can help him win a game unless there is some sort of disciplinary or academic case.

Assuming Wheaton, Augustana, and North Central win out, according to the CCIW, who gets the AQ from your conference. This may be a dumb question, but I am under the assumption that different conference have different protocols for selecting their AQ for the playoffs. As well, you may have already discussed this but I don't have time current;y to look through the pages. Thanks.

Adam, as you said, ASSUMING they all win out, NC holds the tiebreaker over the other two.

How is the CCIW this season?

We've got one poster who thinks your champ doesn't want a part of Mount St. Joe....probably because they beat the Titans this year....upon looking at that post, it made me wonder how the conference is this year compared to years past with Wheaton and Carthage playing well.

Hell I remember playing against Erickson from IWU back in 1996..  Tough QB

SF,

IMO, I believe that the conference is down a bit.  Augie is not the dominating team that everyone is used to seeing.  I thought Wheaton was the strongest team in the conference by a wide margin until they got beat by Augie.  North Central started slow, but has come on as the season has progressed and completely manhandled Augie last week.  Hopefully if all win out, we could get two teams in the playoffs.
