Reporter: What kind of plane is it?
Johnny: Oh, it's a big pretty white plane with a red stripes, curtains at the windows, wheels, and it just looks like a big Tylenol.

:D Good one!

I'm not sure you're ever gonna get these other guys off the movie quotes long enough for an answer

Sorry, Mr. Ypsi, we're just breaking up the slowness in the room this week.  ;)

Over??  Did he say over??  Nothing's over until we decide it is!

In defense of Mugsy (unless he was the one who posted the poll!), I'm pretty sure that the poll can be deleted or changed ONLY by the creator or by d3.sports.com staff.

Is the CCIW down a bit this year?

An earlier poster inquired about this.  I will give you my take on it.  While I think the CCIW is less strong as it has been in the past (still a top notch Conf. in D-3) I think this is due MORESO because the parity level and better play from top to bottom of the conf.  has increased.  It wasn't that long ago that the CCIW was (let's be honest here) a battle of 4 teams  Augie/Wheaton/Millikin/IWU.  From 1980 to Carthage's win 2 years ago,  the crown went to 1 of these 4 schools.
Nowadays, There are 6 legitimate contenders for the CCIW title and each week is a slugfest. There is widespread parity, and winning on the road has added difficulty.  I would say 75% of the this is the CCIW schools are getting tougher and better while 25% of it is the yes, the CCIW is not as strong here in 2006.

Just an FYI for those who might be looking to "tune in"  to the Elmhurst/Millikin Game.  I will be on the air but in an abbreviated fashion.
The reason for the abbreviation is this:  My roommate at EC and former EC Running Back is getting married this Saturday.  So here is my gameplan.
9:00 set up shop get ready to broadcast
11:00 Wedding Ceremony at Elmhurst's Chapel
12:30-1:00 ish  go on the air and cover as much of the game as possible. (Too bad we're not playing Augie today  ;) )
2:45ish  I am going to sign off because the Reception is in Milwaukee, WI
5:00 Cocktails
6:00 Dinner
12:00 AM  "Dreaming about (hopefully)  an EC win"  :P

Case in point,  you can hear the broadcast on 88.7FM (radio)  or on the Internet at
http://www.wrse.com

Looks like there are some bandwagon jumpers to what I have been preaching the last few weeks  8)

Now some of you see that the offensive coaching is blind, inept, and moronic!!!  Talking about a small offensive line - Look at the roster and see who was wasted this year by standing on the sidelines!

Wow I actually did.  They have some big guys...buit big doesn't mean they can play or are athletic enough.  We had a 6'7 340 lb transfer from Ark Pine-Bluff a couple years ago at NCC that a coach brought in to threaten all the o-linemen that they were gunna loose thier jobs...lifted a ton, couldn't get into a stance to save his life and was in terrible shape...needless to say he was gone by the end of the season (along with that coach)

Mike Zeifert was an All-American tackle last year at 235 lbs.

The "big four-little four" existed for so long in the conference that as recently as 2 years ago I got into a fairly heated discussion with (can't remember who - Carthage or NCC, I believe) as to whether the change was just a 'blip' or a real turn over in 'the elite'.  I'm pretty sure I already gave a concession speech on that one, but, just in case, the traditional big four is deader than a dodo!  :P

As I see it now (and PERHAPS for 3-4 years into the future):

Big 3: Wheaton, Augie (falling?), and NCC (fully arrived?)
Lower Middle Class (in ROUGH, but very rough, order): Carthage, Elmhurst, IWU, Millikin.
Please do not be a permanent Heidelberg or Hiram: NPU.

79jaybird

Going back through the long Big 4 stranglehold you have to go back to 1980 (Elmhurst/Millikin) to find somebody other than the big 4 winning the title.
Mr.Ypsi, I would agree that is pretty accurate, but I would place Carthage up with North Central.  Let's face it folks, Carthage has a (recent) CCIW Trophy in their trophy case  and North Central does not.  I agree that North Central's playoff appearance last year was great for their program and the Cardinals' are flying in the right direction, but they still don't have a CCIW Title since 1960.
That is an interesting question.
Would you rather A) Win the CCIW Trophy as Champions  or B) Make the NCAA Division III Playoffs?  (assuming you have to have 1 or the other and not both)

Mr. Ypsi

I did wrestle a bit with Carthage as top or 'lower middle class' - the next two weeks should give a good indication!

I created the poll the last couple weeks. only Pat can wipe it clean. I have sent him a couple messages asking to do this but he has a few thousand things going on right now so I wouldn't worry too much about it...he'll get to it eventually.

Mr. Ypsi

usee,

I may be incorrect on this, but I thought anyone (even newbies, which you obviously aren't) could delete their own creations.

nope. i have tried to delete it and can't. I sent pat a pm and he said only he can do it, which he did for the version you currently see.
