Tailgater

Tailgater...that explains it! Pat was sick and missed the banquet at the end of his senior season!

Have the parents of my four Fremd boys made any of the tailgate parties? I wanted to get up there this year but Pat is working at the Cancer Treatment Centers of America and he has to work on Saturday's from 2-10pm. The good news is he is off on Friday night's so he has been helping coach the quarterbacks at Fremd. He goes in and watches film with them a couple of mornings a week and then coaches at the games on Friday nights.

I didn't realize the Redmen had so many injuries this year! Pat just called me an hour ago and asked if I knew why O'Boyle didn't play yesterday.

Other than Joe Busse I'm not sure I know who else is at Carthage from Fremd. I have yet to meet Joe's parents. There is a large group of freshmen parents who gather together in their own area and tailgate together. Who else do you have here from Fremd? That's great to hear about Pat! sounds like he is off in a good direction in his post collegiate life. He is a good candidate to coach not only QBs but to coach in general. What does Pat do for the Cancer Treatment Center of America?

Mr. Ypsi

Bizarre day in the NFL!  Da Bears lose their perfect season with a rout at the hands of the lowly Dolphins (qb-ed by Lions cast-off Joey Harrington, who last time he played Da Bears had 5 INTs - one of the reasons he is no longer a Lion).  Meanwhile, the lowly Lions demolish the very good Falcons.  Strange!

Don't misunderstand this 'taunt' - I still think Da Bears will probably be in the Super Bowl, while the Lions will be doing well to win 5 or 6 games.  But that's just it - how often do I ever get a chance to taunt this nest of Bears' fans! ;D

Tailgater...Cleo Walker (RB), Jeff Koeneman (WR/P) and Matt Zamin (DB), in addition to Joe Busse, are the Fremd Four.

Patrick is an Oncology Information Specialist. He takes phone calls and tries to find out if the CTCA has any procedures that may help the caller's particular type of cancer. He enjoys getting the opportunity to try and help people in a very difficult time of their lives.

Irish,

How about sending us a couple of those Fremd guys this year?   :)

Until later in the playoffs...  Couple of weeks ago we were even with the NCAC board.  Now they are 60 pages back.

Wheaton leads North Park 73-26.  They start their final possession on the North Park 44 with 0:52 left.  They line up with a few wideouts and run a play for 5 yards.

My question is, why not take a knee at that point?

This is priceless. We had a thread a few weeks ago about a time when the shoe was on the other hand.  ;)

Good catch!  I didn't even think of the 1969 NP-NCC score.  Ironic isn't it?   :)

Just an FYI for everyone ... With 114 more yards, North Central's Kam Kniss can pass Keith Bishop for 15th on the NCAA Division III career passing list. Kniss has 9,466 yards heading into the Carthage game and Bishop had 9,579 in four seasons at Illinois Wesleyan/Wheaton.

Not to "split hairs" or lessen the accomplishment of Kniss in any way, but Keith Bishop passed for the 9,579 yards in only 3 seasons.  He played from 83-85.

The NCAA record book lists "1981, 83-85". I'm assuming Bishop spent a season at Wesleyan and transferred to play for his dad, when J.R. was coming over to Wheaton from Naperville Central HS.

While he may have been on a team in 81' (not Wheaton), I seriously doubt he played much.  My point is that 99% of his yards came in 3, 9 games seasons.  He averaged well over 300 yards per game for his career. :-[

I wasn't disagreeing. I was just stating a fact. Seeing Bishop's numbers over the years and knowing the kind of offense Wheaton ran with him at quarterback, I imagine that's just three years as well.

he transferred to wheaton and sat out a year mostly because of his dad becoming the head coach and partly because he was #2 behind John Roomey, who is also on the top 10 best cciw qbs. I believe Bishop did see some clean up time the year he played at IWU but as mugsy said, it wasn't much.

Let's get back to the original post --- it's a great accomplishment for Kniss to finish his career at the 15th or 16th on the all time Div III passing list. When Kniss came to North Central, North Central was still one of the bottom dwellers in the CCIW. He has helped NCC reached a level where they can realistically challenge for the CCIW title and playoff berths.

That's great for Pat!

I have met Cleo's folks who have joined us tailgating. Very nice people. I think he could be a real special RB for Carthage as he develops. He has great speed, shifty and an explosive burst in excelleration. He can be tough to find in a crowd with his size. Reminds me a little of Barry Sanders. I'm looking forward to seeing how he develops. I have yet to meet any of the other three families.
