One more point I want to make about last Saturday:

I want to make sure I congratulate the Cardinal for their achievment as co champion after a 40+ year dry spell. what coach Thorne has done is imporessive with back to back playoff appearances. Having said that I think it was a complete travesty to honor NCC with a CCIW trophy in Naperville on Saturday and not to have a conference rep in Wheaton and probably Decatur too. There is no justification for that. And if someone says its because NCC won the AQ I might throw up. There is no arguement for NCC being better or more deserving of the CCIW title than Wheaton. Not having a trophy presentation in both places is a joke.

Perhaps they don't have three trophies made up on a whim. Seems like a waste if they generate three trophies and then one of the three teams loses on the final day.

The NJAC had a representative at Rowan on Friday night to bestow a trophy on the Profs. Did they have one at Cortland for the other tied team? Somehow I doubt it.

Then there should have been no presentation until they could create it. You can't argue NCC over Wheaton. Shouldn't have happened. what if augie had lost to millikin? or what if wheaton had a chance to play NCC knowing what they needed to score to win the tiebreaker?

I agree Usee, If you can't have a presentation at all 3 places you should not have one at all.

Well, until the CCIW grows an extra staffer you're SOL then. :)

I am sure many of you can tell who I am just by my name (Glassman #66 Carthage) alone but I have been a long time reader and now a first time poster on the board. I just wanted to thank all of you for you insightful posts and support for all of us players and coaches over my 4 year career at Carthage. I am looking forward to contributing to the board in the following years in a positive way, but for now I will keep my posts to a minimum.

Congrats to all the Seniors in the CCIW as well as the Conference Champs of Wheaton, NCC and Augie. Also good luck to NCC and Wheaton this week and I know they will represent the CCIW well.

I really believe that Spicer is a First team OL from NC.  I just don't see how IWU is rewarded with that many positions with that W/L record.
I believe that the NCC freshmen kicker deserves First team over Denny.  Here are the overall kicking stats to back it up.

I agree that Spicer will be a First teamer. Bognanno and Denny are very close. It depends how many other NCC players are selected.  Perhaps Schmidt on the DL, due to his sack count (not close to Studebaker) but compares well otherwise). Stuedemann will be named as the TE not WR, just like last season. Perhaps one of the linebackers as well. The NCC linebackers were hard to rate this year, following in the steps of Radke but all were very good. Looking at the performance of the NCC defense over the season with the exception being the Wheaton game, the defense will have more than just Bellazini being recognized.

When did studeman ever line up at TE? He is a WR.

Keep in mind this is the projections for 1st team. There are 2nd team players as well. I think NCC getting more than 2 defensive players on the 1st team is a remote chance.

Seeing as he was the second team TE last year, it isn't out of the realm of possibility that he could be there again.   Every coach in the conference has played this game with the positions when it comes to all-conference selections.   Studeman is first team at whichever position he is nominated.  I will agree that there will not be more than two Cardinals selected on defense.  I actually only believe Bellazini will be 1st team, but we will see.  Venier could be 2nd team.

True but he was the TE last year as a way to get an WR recognition he deserved and there wasn't a logical 2nd team TE choice. This year Studeman is clearly 1st team WR along w Ceisel and probably Fossum. I suppose if the coaches want to make Watts a 1st team WR it may happen but making watts Return specialist is a better option because Bergman is a worthy TE.

Welcome aboard son! It will be fun and interesting to hear your insights into the Carthage football program as well as sharing some stories from around the CCIW conference over your years. My fatherly advice is... be sure to thoroughly think through your thoughs and info before posting. As you know from reading here, over the years, this is a very knowlegable group of football fanatics. Although they are usually forgiving, you'll take a pounding if you cross the line. Loved your first post, great start!

I'm not that familiar with how the conference selections work. Does a team get a particullar number of slots made available based on how they finish in conference? or does it just go to reason that if you finish well you have a lot of good players that made it possible and vice-versa with the bottom dweller. Thus, the top teams place more players on the All-Conference team?
