On a matter of ridiculous nicknames, here are a few of my favorite Illinois high school nicknames. 

Teutopolis High School - The Wooden Shoes
Fischer HS - The Fightin' Bunnies 
Pekin HS - Formerly known as the Pekin Chinks, to honor their sister city in China.  They are now the dragons.

On a side note, I've driven through Watersmeet in the UP of Michigan.  Talk about a one horse town...

Evergreen State, an NAIA school in Olympia, WA is nicknamed the Geoducks (Pronounced Gooey-ducks). A Geoduck is a giant clam. Check out this mascot.
