Congratulations to all the CCIW representatives selected to the D3football.com 2006 All-North Region Teams. I think I count around 20 names. That's a pretty good showing for the CCIW. Special proud dad moment as I say way to go Ryan (SOT). We are so proud of what you have accomplished. You continued all through your career to set goals for yourself, even lofty ones, but have always been able to acheive those goals. You've earned what you've acheived on the football field, enjoy the fruits of your effort and success........ Then apply that knowledge and work ethic to your new career whatever that becomes.  ;D

MUC up 19-14, end of 3.
UWW up 31-0 after 17 minutes!  Looking like last year's beatdown.

(Obviously I type too slow!)

Looks like a rematch from last year

Mount Union vs. UWW
It's REDMEN not RED MEN

Mr. Ypsi

Final in Alliance: MUC 26, SJF 14.
Halftime score: UWW 38, Wesley 0.

I think a Stagg rematch is a pretty safe prediction! :D

Does anyone think Whitewater's chances are any better this year than last year?

Eventhough I am pulling for Whitewater and would love to see them win, it might be foolish to bet against Mount Union in Salem.  What do you think?

I agree. I'm pulling for the upset, but you gotta like MUC in this because of their history and great players and coaches in a place they've been many times in the last few years.

The Stagg is shaping up eerily like last year.  In the semi's, MUC beats the East rep by 12, while UWW slaughters Wesley!

While I agree that it is never wise to bet against MUC, 2 points:

While MUC certainly has MORE Stagg experience, UWW WAS there last year (unlike last year when they had NO recent experience), and...

I was only able to watch the first and fourth quarters of MUC-SJF (and saw only a few plays of UWW-WC, figuring you can't learn much from such a buttkickin' anyway), and thought I was seeing two totally different games!  SJF played them pretty much dead-even early on, until Kmic and the O-line simply wore down the SJF defense - in the fourth quarter the MUC running game was pretty much unstoppable.  While I have little evidence, I just don't get the impression that UWW is apt to get so worn down.

At this point I'm totally undecided on who I'll pick, but it should be a helluva game! :D

TitanBacker-- I went to High School with Shaun Frizzielle and was on the Prospect Knights Team with him.  He is a big boy, and a good football player!  He always had great technique and as  DE  I had trouble getting past him during our linemen drills.

The only way Whitewater pulls this upset off is if they can stop the Kmic and the Mount Union running game.  Yes, I realize that this is the key to beating any team, make them one dimensional and you win.  I think UWW has the D-line to match up with Mount Union paticularly if the big boy Ryan Kleppe has a significant game.  I have never seen him play, but his numbers are unreal for a big man.  If he can find a way to run with three 1st team All-North region lineman, he will be an enormous factor in the game.  On the offensive, if UWW can get Beaver going, they have a chance.  That's no small task against a stout front 7 and and run stopping DB's of Mount Union.  According to the poll on the cover page of this site, Beaver is the best HB left playing...I have to disagree with that, but the voters see something in him, and running on Mount if effective could end in a victory for the Warhawks.

My prediction- Mount Union is just too fast.  Mount Union wins 34-21.

P.S. Even though Augustana is by far Wheaton's greatest rival, I'm glad the record Kmic set against them last season for rushing yards in a playoff game was reset today.  His 371 yards against St.John Fisher gets the CCIW team off the hook.

"Even though Augustana is by far Wheaton's greatest rival"
SOT  in what sport??? ???
The Thunder players, coaches, parents, and fans that I know tell me that Wheaton's greatest football rival is North Central, mostly stemming from the LBBell Trophy.
Plus I know a few Augie fb players that tell me their greatest rival is IWU.

SoT,

For the record, the final tally on the front-page poll had Kmic narrowly ahead of Beaver.
