All right a rematch of the Stagg Bowl between Mt. Union and UW Whitewater.
I am picking Whitewater for a couple of reasons.
A) Revenge-  Similar to NC earlier this playoff season, when a team has a bitter taste in their mouths, the adrenaline sometimes can get you over the hump.

B) MUC did not "rip up" St John Fisher this afternoon, while Whitewater's game was over after the first half.  I think UWW has momentum and their team is clicking.

C)(of less importance)  I would like to see a WI school win it rather than an OH school, because I spend May---August in Wisconsin.  ;)

Sorry about my misinfo about the poll, last time I had seen, Beaver was ahead.  Jaybird, I don't know which players, parents, and coaches you talk to, but AUGIE is our biggest rival.  Perhaps your information stems from the Thunder's focus this past season on reclaiming the Bell that has been in Wheaton's possesion for I believe 20 of the last 23 years.  With all due respect to NCC and their program, Augie is and will remain Wheaton's rival until NCC is playing for the Championship year in and year out.  Augie players may tell you theirs is IWU, but nearly all Wheaton players will tell you Augie is ours, or you will see by the shirts players and fans wear that say simply, BEAT AUGIE.

Sons of Thunder, fair enough but my sources are on the coaching staff and players that played during the 70's and 80's at Wheaton.
When I was playing at Elmhurst the people (at each school) that I talked to, told me the major rivalries were
Elmhurst/Carthage
Augie/IWU
Millikin/IWU
Wheaton/NC

Now with the rise/fall of some schools, there have been recent changes, but this is what I was told and I was at Elmhurst between 1998-2002.

In the past few years, Wheaton v. Augie has meant either Conference Champions or playoff berths.  I think that's where our rivalry has become so strong.

A. Worked fine against CUW (when NCC was probably ALWAYS the better team, and just got upset); a bit less fine against Cap! ;)

B. In other words, EXACTLY like last year (when MUC beat Rowan by the same 12 points, and UWW destroyed Wesley).

C. I'll give you this one - I much prefer vacationing in WI the OH! ;D

At Carthage, I thought we had more of a rivalry against IWU because we simply didnt like them. For the argument for Elmhurst, we have been playing close games but there isnt the same dislike for their players as the IWU players. Just my thoughts on our rivalries
These are as good as money, these are IOU's

Carthage was our #1 arch rival and we all really wanted to get the W against the Redmen more than any other school.
IWU is a good basketball rival for Elmhurst, while NC is a good rivalry in all sports mostly because of the geographical proximity between the 2 schools.

P.S. Even though Augustana is by far Wheaton's greatest rival, I'm glad the record Kmic set against them last season for rushing yards in a playoff game was reset today.  His 371 yards against St.John Fisher gets the CCIW team off the hook.

That's just plain funny.  + karma for you!
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.

Unfortunately Kmic has 2 more years to attempt to break this rushing record and potentially against a CCIW opponent. :-[

The guy has more yards rushing in 2 seasons of playoff games alone than most have in a regular season career.  He has got to be closing in on 2000 yards rushing in playoff games alone.

Personally I don't know why anyone would pick against Mount Union.  Their point differential this year might not be as impressive, but from my vantage point they have never been out of control of a game.

The other thing that points me against Whitewater is how UMHB held them to no points.  Sure, they were playing without Beaver, so I am sure that had a great deal to do with the lack of offensive production, but Mount's defense is fast, just like the Crusaders was.

Finally, why all the hate toward the Raiders?  Sure, they win all the time, but they aren't arrogant like the Yankees or the University of Miami (who certainly didn't back up their arrogance this year).  Their teams have class and the coach talks about how happy he has been with his graduation rates.  Do I wish that someone from the North would be able to knock them off?  Sure, I would have loved to see Wheaton go down there and beat them after the multiple beat-downs that we have received, but until someone does, I am happy to have them representing our region.
