There is a huge difference between the "shots" delivered on our board and the "shots" that are delivered on the IBFC board.    Mugsy and CardinalAlum (as Devildog mentions) will have their innocent jabs, but the two SHARE in the love of the CCIW and the member institutions.
I don't see any "love or respect" for their peers on the IBFC board. Whoa!  Those posters throw the whole kitchen sink at each other.   :o

Nice article today on a local IHSA/NFL football player making a donation to benefit Youth Football.   Matt Roth DE (Iowa) played at Willowbrook HS in suburban Villa Park and now plays for the Miami Dolphins.  He donated 5K  (which the NFL matched so a total of 10K)  to help fund the startup of a youth football league in Villa Park.
Nice gesture and I hope that starts up some excitement in that community.  I guess there are some "good natured, down to earth" guys in the NFL.

Wow, that IBFC board is something else.  Here, we just get Mugsy and NCC with their rather innocent jabs back and forth.  On that board, they're throwing haymakers at their own teammates.

ok. been away for a few days......say a prayer for me.....i'm going in...........

Wheaton loses to Northwestern in basketball tonight, 41-39.  Wheaton misses a 3 pointer at the buzzer.  Just thought you might be interested to hear how a D3 bball team played against a D1 program, from the Big 10 no less!  (ok... the perennial doormat of the Big10)

Great effort and way to represent D3 athletics!

Oh... one other thing that will be quite handy.  Take along a linguist - particularly someone in the field of "morphology".  The branch of linguistics that studies such patterns of word-formation across and within languages, and attempts to explicate formal rules reflective of the knowledge of the speakers of those languages.  I'm not sure what the rules are for word-formation used by 1 or 2 of the posters over there. ::)

Or perhaps someone who specializes in "phraseology".  The study of the context in which words are used.   "Phraseology is a fuzzy part of language. It embraces the conventional rather than the productive or rule-governed side of language, involving various kinds of composite unite and "pre-patterned" expressions such as idioms, fixed phrases, and collocations."

Hey... it's been over 90 minutes since usee "went in" to the IBC board.  Do you think it is time someone goes in after him?  Should we call the authorities?

took me two hours and a lot of hits on dictionary.com to figure out the past few days of posts.

"Wheaties"... ARRGGHH!  Like lemon juice in a paper cut... you know how much that term annoys me.

Redmen96

Don't get mad "Wheaties" is a term of endearment.  It just means we love you.  You know when you have seemingly insulting names for your brother, but if anyone else called him that there would be trouble.
We will always be REDMEN

You get everyone to stop calling us weanies and I'll get them to stop calling you Wheaties, but good luck with that one.

Another good post by Jaybird.

I don't think it ever has gotten as nasty or as personal on this board as it has over on the IBC board. I think we've had active participation from 7 out of the 8 conference schools (can't recall a regular Millikin contributor) and everyone has shown a tremendous loyalty for their schools. Sometimes they go a little overboard and sometime they air dirty laundry that should be kept internal, and we've done a decent job of policing anti-social behavior without being ugly.

A good example is the current karma rating by Jaybird. It wasn't too long ago that he had a negative karma rating. Maybe he stopped drinking the blue koolaid so much, but he has been rewarded by the quality of his contributions.

I also read that Mugsy doesn't like the term Wheaties. I always thought that was degrading to a fine breakfast product, but I'll have to start using it.
;D ;D ;D

I'll stop calling you weanies if you get the Wheaties to stop referring to NCC as "that Naperville school."

There is NO WAY that the "Green Weanies" nickname is going away!  ;D  That is a tradition that goes way back.   Wheaties is meant in a complete respectful light.  Mugsy, I didn't know that bothered you?!  ;)
