The 2005 Team was dated Jan 12th while 2004 & 2003 teams came out mid Dec (16th & 19th). Your guess as to when the 2006 Team is posted is as good as anyone elses.

I think it would be ridiculous for MUC to go to D2 as long as they follow the rules like everybody else.  Although I believe the NCAA needs to LOOK at limiting the number of total players a team can have and the implications of having 200 players on schools of 2500 or whatever the max attendance is.
1 – If a traveling team is 60-70 (not sure) how big can a JV squad be.  If you have 200 players do you have 2 or 3 JV squads?  Or even a second team.
2 – Is that now the standard for success?  Will other teams do the same?
3 – Would this keep some non athletes from getting in the school?
4 – Do other athletic departments lose out with money?  Will it inevitably cause infighting and jealousy between athletic departments?
5 – Would limiting a D3 school to 100-120 players be good or bad.
Just some thoughts for discussion.

Decades ago, the success of the UCLA basketball and the legendary Coach Wooden, led to a change in NCAA rules which allowed freshman to play at the varsity level.  The change meant that Wooden couldn't "hide" his tremendous freshmen classes from a nation of high school students considering a college.  The net effect of the change was a wider distribution of talent across the nation.

Could it be that the success of Mount Union football might lead to a change in NCAA III football regulations.  One change might be the reduction of the size of rosters which will, in time, spread talent around to other schools.

Congrats to Mike Guzman on a 54 yard TD reception in the Aztec Bowl.

QuoteAfter a scoreless first period, Collins hooked up with Guzman on a 54-yard catch and run after the Augustana back looped out of the backfield, hauled the pass in at the Mexico 43 and rumbled the rest of the way for the score.

Kniss had a huge impact as well.

QuoteThe United States answered that score on the opening series of the second half when North Central's Kam Kniss orchestrated an eight play, 84-yard scoring drive that was capped off by a 35-yard pass from Kniss to John Carroll's Joe Konrad to put the U.S. up 14-7. The no-huddle attack the USA implemented to start the half resulted in 21 points in a little more than one quarter of play.

Also congrats to Kniss on being selected as a captain of the team.  Real classy quote from him on this selection:

QuoteKAM KNISS, NORTH CENTRAL: It means a lot when you're with this many good players. It's an honor to earn their respect. The whole week has been a great trip. I never in a million years expected to be in this position. I'm honored to have this opportunity.

I am interested to see how other publications vote for top QB.

The only definite I see is that Pentello is the 1st team all-american on most peoples books.  I say after that, it can be debated.

Pat Coleman

Seeing as Don Hansen is based in Illinois I might expect a different pick from him.

You assessment comments interesting and good.  Only aspect I would mention is that certainly you saw Mount more than me this year, and as such, you would know more than me about them not having "shutdown corner'backs'".  Yet, from the game I personally witnessed as well as at the Stagg from what I saw (at least on TV), I would say all their DB's are great and played an excellent "shutdown" on WW passing game.  WW did not have the latter (nor did we in the first playoff game) because their receivers could never get open.  I think that is pretty good and this coming from an "old db" ;) ;D
