I am glad the Bears won because I have been waiting 21 years for a Bears & Patriots Super Bowl rematch.
We will always be REDMEN

I was in Kindergarten when the Bears won the Super Bowl in 1985/86.  It was such a big event that following Friday we had an all-school assembly with "wear your favorite Bears attire day."  I wore my Jim McMahon #9 jersey.  Good times!

Did you wear a headband, too?

The McMahon jersey just didn't work without the headband.

Hehe, no.  Definitely McMahon's trademark though.  Looking back, I don't know if my Teacher would have allowed me to wear a headband.  We did get paper cut-outs to color your favorite Bear with.

Not much news in the CCIW so I'm going to ask the question of questions (which some may have answered already).  Do the Bears play well enough to get to the Super Bowl?  And which Colts defense will show up on Sunday versus the Patriots?

Backer, if the weather is cold and sloppy, I think that will definitely have an effect on New Orleans offense and help out our defense.  That being said, we better find a way to tackle Deuce or it might be a long day.  We didn't do that great of a job tackling Shaun Alexander so that worries me.  As far as the offense, that's a coin toss as to who is going to show up, so I think it's hard to say what they'll do based on any previous game.  They are so wildly inconsistent they may put up 40 points or they may put up 6.  Putting home team bias aside (as best I can), I think if I were a bookie, I'd almost call this a pick 'em.
Hail, Hail, the gang's all here, all out for Wesleyan!

I am a die hard Bears fan and have to confess that I am worried about this upcoming Sunday for 2 reasons
A) their defensive line did not get adequate pressure on Hasselbeck last weekend.  At times he had all day to throw the ball and Alexander had his way running the ball.

B) McAllister and Bush are both better than any Seattle player with much more talent.

The plus side,  the Bears are at home with their fans.  I think the Bears (especially Rex) need that confidence of knowing the fans are on his side.  What does that mean?  Well maybe nothing, because the Bears still have to execute, but I just don't have that "comfortable feeling" heading into the game Sunday.  Still I say,  GO BEARS!  :)

Real interesting reading in Keith McMillan's "Around The Nation Year In Review" article. This obviously took a lot of work and tons of time to sort out all the information he presented. Nice job Keith!

I have been away from the board for a while.

Anything new and exciting in CCIW land?

Any CCIW players being looked at by the NFL?

By the way GO BEARS!!!

I was reading the Around the Naion Year in Reveiw article and there was mention that Brandon Fox and Donovan Moore from Carthage were on the NFL scouting radar. Only 1 D3 player has been officially invited to the NFL combine, but he's not from the CCIW.

Here is what Keith McMillan reported

"Whitworth's 6-7, 264-pound tight end Michael Allan hauled in Division III's first NFL combine invitation in three years. But no one from our division played in the Jan. 14 Hula Bowl."

The bears will win sunday. they are better than people think. deuce mcallister is good but he is NOT as good as shaun alexander. seattle was a much better team than people give them credit for. Saints offense will struggle in the cold.....and i am not buying the "drew brees played at purdue" arguement. the latest he ever played in cold weather was november in west lafayette. he didn't play in january at soldier field. bring it on. bears win by 4

Isn't D.Moore coming back as a 5th year senior because he was injured last season?

B.Fox is undersized for an NFL linebacker but he is a pure athlete. If he was to have any shot, he would have to put on some weight and I could see him as a free saftey.

Good input on the Bears-Saints game.  I do hope the Bears can pull it off but I fear which Bears team will show up.  If the offense can get going quickly and get a big score, I believe momentum will help the Bears tremendously.  Big plays for the Bears are key as they had 4 or 5 of them to beat Seattle in overtime.  I too believe that the Seahawks were underrated and the Bears beat a very good team this past weekend.  If the defense can rock Brees a few times, they could definitely pull this one off.

As for the AFC, I'd love to see Peyton Manning lose.  I REALLY dislike his commercials! >:(  I also think that Tom Brady deserves to go to the Super Bowl again.  He has been the figurehead of that offensive unit and plays great.

In unrelated, anecdotal news, as i was shopping for new tennis shoes this weekend, I couldn't help but buy a pair of football cleats that were on sale for $15.  I'm trying to find a use for them in the near future.  Anyone know of any football leagues in St. Louis?  ;D

Yes Donovan will return to Carthage to play next season. I'm looking forward to seeing some more of his magic from punt formation.

I agree...Brandon would certainly not be considered for a Linebacker at the NFL level. He is a very good athlete and might be considered for and converted to a Strong Safety, Free Safety or maybe even a Corner. Keep in mind Fox & Moore are merely on the NFL scouting radar screen. The probability of being drafted or allowed to walk on for a tryout at this point are at best remote.
