Ah the day the we have all been waiting for since 1985-86 has graced our shoulders.  It is a frigid, raw day here in Chitown and perfect Bears weather here.
I am confident in our boys, but worried because I know Indy is loaded also.
I think the big key for the Bears is their start and how Rex plays.  We can't have old Rex with the happy feet and scared play.

Would love to be able to bring home the hardware to the City of Chicago and see the parade.

Soooo  Go Bears!   ;D

I can't let this one go... the term is "Global Climate Change" and while the overall temperature on earth will rise, it will also have localized cooling trends, especially if the atlantic gulf steam collapses due to all the artic glacial melting and sends Europe into a localized mini ice age. Basically the most important fact about global climate change is that it translates more into severe severe weather... ie. if the oceans were cooler in the Gulf of Mexico, Katrina wouldn't have been able to pick up as much steam and be as distructive.

There has been even less rain than normal out here in So Cal... by a lot. It's going to be an ugly fire season this summer... and last year's was already so bad that firefighters died.

Thank you Wheaton Environmental Science degree. :D

Indy Colts 16
Bears  14  half   >:(

Manning started to heat up from halfway of the 1st quarter on.  Bears better get a pass rush going otherwise it is going to be a LONG 2nd half.
Go Bears!

Your term is "global climate change". My term is "global warming" and its -5 in chicago. that's not warming no matter what your degree is. (unless your degree is in fahrenheit) :D :D

Third law of astrophysics, "the more complex things become, the more likely they are to break down."  What with Pluto being delisted and all, have to think forces beyond our comprehension control oceanic shearing.  The real loons (quinnies?) would suggest swiping a moon from Jupiter to keep the 23 degree axis of earth rotation.

23 degrees fahrenheit the same as 5 degrees Celsius?  Cold no matter the interpretation.

All I can think about right now is.....Rex.......Gross..........MAN! Would the Bears be a real threat game in and game out if their QB wasn't Dr. Jekle & Mr. Hyde?

Globle climate change/Global warming mumbo jumbo. They can't even get the weather forcast right in Miami on the day of the Superbowl. I wonder what melted all those glaciers back at the end of the ice age? Dinosaur flatulents? ;D Lets review the scientific data. Oh that's right it's scientific speculation no data exists. About 15 years ago climate scientists were telling us we are approaching another ice age. Could it be we are just in a phase of a planet's life cycle we are not familar with or have data for? I tend to trust that God has created a pretty fool proof environment. He is quite the architect and certainly knows there is plenty of us fools around. I'll take all the global warming I can get in Chi Town today. Burrrrrrrr!

New Tradition

I'm certainly not a fan of this cold.  I'd much rather be sitting in Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium on an 80 degree August night watching the Cards kick off their '07 season!  When will summer be here?!?!?

Perhaps Kniss should have donned a Bears jersey and played last night!  ;)
Gosh, was Rex awful or what?  I could understand a game like that 1-3 weeks of the year, but on Super Bowl Sunday????

Well, the opponents tend to get better in the Super Bowl.

True.  :)
I just can't figure out Rex sometimes.  Often he looks great and appears to be finding a rhythm, then other times he looks like a ship in distress, sending out an SOS at sea.

I'm not making excuses for the incredibly stupid decisions that Rex makes sometimes, but Ron Turner doesn't do him a lot of favors with the play calling.

A prime example last night was when the Bears, trailing by five in the third quarter, had a second and one at about the Colt 35. Instead of giving it to Thomas Jones for the first down or using play-action to take a shot down field (with the option of running on third down if that fails), he puts Jones in motion out of the backfield, eliminating the play-action threat and essentially telling the Colts that a pass was coming. Guess what happens--sack!

Then I think Rex fumbled or was sacked on third down as well. How does a guy lose a gazillion straight games as a college head coach and then get an NFL coordinator job?

Mr. Ypsi

Rex was actually no worse (maybe even better) in the fourth then Peyton was in the first quarter.  Two differences:

While the Bears held onto one INT, they dropped 3 others - the Colts could have been in a BIG hole.

While Peyton adjusted and got (MUCH) better, Rex went the other way.

RedmenFB44

Bears all around played terrible. Everyone from Rex to the defense to the coaching. I don't want to wait another 21 years  :P

As for Rex... I never liked him from the day he got drafted. He has always had bad mechanics. It is Rex's job as well as the QB coach (Wade Wilson, yeah he was a real winner) to correct this. I saw better mechanics at the QB position when I played at Carthage and Ferni Garza was our QB. All this talk aound Rex having a strong arm? What! He looks like he is trowing a hail mary everytime he throws the ball deep. He throws it as hard as he can straight up then turns and looks away. Kinda like how we would throw a football when we were young. The ball was too big and we tried to throw it as far as possible. We would throw it and because we put our whole body into it, we would spin ourselves and fall to the ground. Rex looks like hes one step away from falling down. Iunderstand that he has one more year but the better not give him a contract extension. We wont get a high enough draft pick to get a "difference maker" QB so we have to sign a vet. We have the defense that will keep us in every game. Now we need a QB that will make the easy throws, has good mechanics, and wont turn the ball over 3-5 times a game. Sorry that was my rant of the year... ok maybe month.

Ron Turner was actually a very successful coordinator w the bears before. remember erik kramer, marcus robinson, curtis conway and the rb from Ohio state (harris?). they were a top tier offense back then and kramer was a pro bowl player. he got the illinois job based on that. Turner is actually a very good offensive coordinator (his brother is Norv Turner--a good play caller in his own right). If the bears got rid of ron turner he would have multiple job offers very quickly. the problem is not the play calling.
